Well saying the only reason Collins is playing is because Lampard is being stubborn is suggesting that isn’t it? If Wilson was better than Collins he would be playing.
But then sometimes it's not about who is the best player. Your very best players in the squad can go through a loss of form and you very often see them dropped

That doesn't make the player that comes on, better, it just states that the no. 1 choice isn't playing well at the moment.

If Wright didn't score for 10 games, I think it would be right and proper to at least consider dropping him.

Disagree mate. He's been second choice for most of his career, stepped up one season and won golden glove. Hasn't been bad when he has played this season. He's signed a contract for a reason, maybe to be 3rd or 2nd choice but we can also get a fee for him. Collins is an awful keeper, Wilson isn't.
His career to date suggests otherwise.

they are both awful
Collins is much poorer at shot stopping and catching the ball
Wilson is much poorer on 1v1 (he cant judge position and usually leaves the whole goal open) and distribution

Collins critical mistakes per game are much higher than wilson (and any other keeper ever)
I agree. Both need to be gone this summer.

Do people really think Lampard is sacrificing results to prove a point? None of us have seen Wilson play for months, he sees them in training everyday and has decided Collins is the better option.
I wouldn’t say he’s sacrificing results purposely SG, what I would say is Lampard is too stubborn to change the personnel or formation, I assume because he believes his own judgement.

Lampard will see the players on the training pitch and behind closed doors, if he has a reason for picking Collins I’m sure he is confident enough to stand behind it, unfortunately where it matters on a match day is where Collins is struggling and where it’s hurting City the most.

It's very simple to me. Say what you like about Collins but he is very good with his feet for a GK. The way Lampard likes us to play needs a GK who is also good with the ball at his feet. We saw last game he is a capable GK but the problem is he is never far away from making a mistake/wrong decision that costs us a goal.

Wilson is a half decent GK but a liability with the ball at his feet. If Lampard is to play Wilson he would also have to consider playing a different system instead of playing out from the back. And as we have seen in recent games he isn't willing to change our system even when keeping to it gives the advantage to our opponents who play best against teams that use a high line.

It would help if Collins was good with his hands though. 😕

It’s all well and good a keeper being good with his feet and it’s justifiable to keep in the team on that basis, but he’s made several poor judgements or his shot stopping has been poor which has cost us what 9+ points, that could have us comfortable in the playoffs.

People are saying it's a selection mistake, nothing more.
And Wilson is better than Collins.
That's just your opinion though isn't it?

I don't think there is much between them. Wilson has more confidence and Collins much better distribution. Both can make some good shot stops.

Maybe Wilson's injured or maybe FL just doesn't want to sacrifice his tactic of playing out from the back. I don't know but if he plays Collins it will be for a reason that we prob won't find out

I’ll trust the opinion of frank and his team who see them train everyday

If youre happy to see someone costing us a goal every game or 2fair enough.

Stuart Pearce used to watch Man City train everyday, he once brought David James on up front.
Man City supporters thought he'd lost the plot, what do they know?

I fully agree. But the choice is down to Lampard. Play Collins who always has a mistake in him and hope we keep the ball up the other end of the pitch or keep control of the ball, or play Wilson and change the way we play because his ball control with his feet isn't good enough.

In all seriousness i'm starting to think Bobby Thomas would be a better CF than Ellis Simms.

Thats exactly what he's doing mate

People don't want to believe it, Wilson is fit, has been for weeks

Lampard is just being stubborn

Lampard worked wonders to get us into a top 6 spot. But he's also the one costing us it
He's not doing it because he's stubborn though is he? It must be to do with wilson's lack distribution changing the gameplan

Collins has had some absolute howlers this season and is single handedly responsible for us losing so many points.

That being said I can’t even imagine the meltdown from the fans if he makes a mistake that costs us the playoffs. It’ll incite a fucking riot, the Ricoh will be burning down by the late afternoon.

It's not stubbornness, it's stupidity.

Not necessarily. They see both goalkeepers in training and Wilson may not be performing well on the training pitch.

We don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes, perhaps Wilson is 100% physically ready but mentally not there yet.

There must be a reason he isn’t playing if Collins starts in goal on Saturday.
