We are in League One. I think a lot of people forget that.

Would say Bowyer may well be past it .... but not for League One.

Cannot stand the bloke on a personal front, but he could well prove to be an excellent player at this level.

And as Torch says, there were a lot of raised eyebrows when Dennis Wise came here.

The least we can do is give the bloke a chance if this is all true.

Might cause a bit of dissent in the ranks - a lot of our team are of a non-white persuasion.

Then there is his alleged powder habit.

Otis, we (the majority) said Kilbane wouldn't be past it for League 1, that went well.

I'd rather not take the risk.

We did. I thought Kilbane would do okay.

Always a gamble when taking on older players. It does sometimes come off though and who's to say he won't be another Dennis Wise?

I trust MR. He's got things pretty much spot on. Henderson didn't work because of injury, but even Reckord did okay. Moussa and Bailey have worked out very well and Clarke looks a real snip too!

If MR thinks he can do a job then I back the decision and let's just see. A bit of steel in midfield is something we really need. Certainly could have done with it against Preston at home for sure!

I don't think he would be a good signing - 36 and played or trained since the end of last season. It will take longer for him to get fit and being older he will be more likely to pick up niggle injuries whilst doing so.

Sorry Otis, Bowyer isn't worthy of being mentioned in the same breath as Wise. Bowyer is a journeyman who's journey was reached about 5 years ago, maybe more. As Stupot07 rightly says, Bowyer hasn't played or trained since last season. So it's a massive no from me.

Every player is a "massive no" from you unless they personally send you their CRB check.

BOWYER IS NOT WANTED... HE IS A DISGRACE

Lee Bowyer was charged and fined for affray in 1996 after attacking Asian staff at a McDonald's in east London.

The Daily Mail describes what happened: "In September 1996, three months after Bowyer signed for Leeds, 17 year old A level student Shamsul Mia encountered him on a night out in London. Shamsul, whose family is from Bangladesh, was working part time at McDonald's on the Isle of Dogs when Bowyer and some friends pulled up in a minicab. Shamsul served him a 69p cheeseburger-but Bowyer threw it to the ground and said he wasn't going to eat anything served by a 'f...ing Paki' He demanded another burger and said he wanted to be served by a white person. He launched into a tirade of racist abuse. Bowyer and two friends began hurling chairs at the young waiter and his colleagues, all but one of whom were Asian. Shamsul and another worker had to be treated in hospital. Incredibly, the incident was not treated as a racist attack. Bowyer pleaded guilty to affray and was fined £4,500 by Thames magistrates-just half his week's wages at the time."

--------------------------

'Brown baby' slur
A former girlfriend of Bowyer's, Emma Keeney, says he split up with her when he discovered she had an Asian grandparent. She says that when he found out, Bowyer immediately ended the relationship, claiming he could not risk "a brown baby".

-------------------

Following an incident near a Leeds nightclub in January 2000, in which an Asian student suffered severe injuries, Bowyer and teammate Jonathan Woodgate were charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and affray.[13] An initial trial collapsed in April 2001 after an article in a Sunday newspaper,[14] and following a second trial, which ended in December 2001, Bowyer was cleared of both charges while Woodgate was convicted of affray and sentenced to community service.[15] Bowyer was generally recognised as playing some of the finest football of his career during this period[16][17][18][19] and would often go straight from court to play for Leeds.[20] In 2005, the player agreed a £170,000 out-of-court settlement of a civil action for damages brought by the victim and his brother, who had been less seriously hurt in the assault.[21]
After Bowyer's acquittal, Leeds fined him four weeks' wages for a breach of the club's code of conduct. Despite having had the backing of the club during the trial and the club paying his extensive legal fees, Bowyer took exception to the fine and was placed on the transfer list

Same as we didn't want Marlon?

I didn't want him. Would be surprised if Bowyer came purely on football grounds as he has not sourced a club this season so would be a risk.

Not that surprised we are looking for a new centre midfider to partner bailey though.

No-one has said they like the bloke as a person.

I really dislike the man, but according to that info above he hasn't been in any kind of trouble for 13 years.

Not defending him, but maybe he has changed. Who knows! Usually, once a racist always a racist, but some people can change and it does happen.

I don't particularly want him here, but if and when he's here I will do the same as with King. I won't chant his name or have Bowyer on the back of my shirt, but will applaud any good play. Certainly won't boo him.

Let's see what happens. People seem to be jumping the gun a bit here.

Perhaps. I'm not even a great fan! I just followed them on Twitter; that is my crime!

Perhaps he wants you to give him a personal rendition of "go West"

I think he's a good signing, gives us a nasty edge we've been lacking for years. If we can't out play teams then we'll have to match in the more gritty areas of the game. 6 month deal will be OK, any more then we are throwing money away.

@ Torchy the battery boy..

It's as relevant as your attack on my post. If you're going to accuse me of something make sure you have proof before opening your big mouth.
I do not say a "Massive no" to every player...I said "No" to Herman..proved right.......I said "No" to Kilbane..proved right, and believe me, if we sign Bowyer, the earliest you would see him even make the bench would be March/early April. That's unless your name is Andy Thorn and you play one of the biggest underachievers straight away(Cody Mc) who was nowhere near fit, this club has seen, with the exception of Fatwood.:jerkit:

So he wasn't convicted of any racist behaviour in all of the above?? Just checking, because we know how people like to tot up their browny points when it comes to the moral high ground on racism. Check back when he's been convicted of any racist behaviour please.
