Think your right no chance.that may be a waste of his talent and or energy. Dont think defending for long periods away the fancied away teams is what we brought him in for.
Maybe at home when teams sit back and hard to break down or if we are chasing the game I'd risk it.

No I think Robins wanted him to play with the players most likely to be in 11 and given we were going to have most the ball would end up playing like an AM anyway. If he had started on the bench and come on at AM he would have ended up playing with the kids in the second half

It's two factual things. MR's says he's a attacking midfielder and that's where he's been playing at his previous club.

Why are people still arguing over this? It's patently obvious he was brought in as an attacking mid. Just because he's "versatile" and played RWB in the past doesn't mean that's what Robins wants from him. Robins is obviously looking at bringing in a proper RWB to play ahead of Burroughs who isn't a first teamer yet.

I'd have said this in the past, but take a look at some of the Heat Maps (Average Position) people posted.
Bidwell and BNC were almost always the furthest forward after Vik. @schmeee probably has a point.
Sakamoto played as a RWB at his last club. He started at RWB in his first game for us. I think he'll stay there.
If MR sees a WB as a 'midfielder', then his comment re: Tatsu as an 'attacking midfielder' says he'll be RWB.

He’s never played RWB in his whole career judging off TransferMarkt. Mainly playing LW and RW for his previous club in Belgium and RM in a 4-4-2 in Japan.

I can defo see him covering there or dropping in against weaker teams, but just cant see a lightweight (albeit tenacious), skillful left footer being the RWB when we apparently have another 10 signings to make!

We’ll definitely sign an out and out RWB. Be nice to have Sakamoto as an option there for when teams are sitting deep against us and we have all of the ball though.

He played RM and LM for his previous club in Belgium, which is RWB and LWB.
I am fairly sure he has been signed as an AM (who can fill in at wing back if needed), but he has definitely played wing back previously.

It's both a hybrid position really as it's both attacking and defensive. There is or should be less requirement to defend due to the three CBs on the field, the LCB/RCB should be able to cover the gaps left by a wing back pushing on.

I know you love this theory he will be our starting wing back, and you could be right. From being at the game on Tuesday, I would be worried for two reasons if he was our starting RWB. 1) it would in some ways put a shackle on what looks to be a very exciting attacking player 2) he is very, very slight. Whilst he did fine against FGR, he didn't have a lot to do. I don't doubt his workrate and tenacity, but I think against Championship clubs it could prove to be a big concern. I will add a third that he likes to cut in on his left a lot, which will leave a gaping hole if he then goes on to lose the ball.
This is obviously with the caveat of it was about 60 minutes, and things change and progress. I think he could be an option there for chasing a game but I am not sure how comfortable I would be with him starting Championship games in that position for the season.
