All the murmurings have been along the lines of us holding out for more money although to be fair that seems to be coming from his agent and GIMOC whose info is always negative on King.
And we should. His fee can assist with this clubs finances for a decent period and give MR the chance to spend some decent cash now and in January. If all these clubs are interested, we should be holding out and playing hard ball.

For years we've been pushovers when it comes to selling players. That needs to change.

I find the wording of his tweets about Vik strange. Last couple have been focussing on the fee being too high “despite being out of contract in 2024”.

Maybe I’m reading too much into it but I don’t think I see his other tweets using such language
Someone mentioned it earlier, but he has list a lot of credibility recently. His rumours are no longer exclusive or that groundbreaking, the theory was that agents were sick of how much he was charging them.

You can clearly see in this one that it's a pretty weak attempt to influence King. Everything is a thinly veiled threat about contract length, implying he will see it out and go in a free.

It's just shit attempt to gain leverage in negotiations.

I think I’ve said before an extra million or two is a huge difference for us but also if we need the money in before we spend there’s a balance to be struck in terms of getting players in in good time. Having said that, I think there will be a lot of players out of contract looking for clubs late on but again you want them in early ideally and to have your pick, not just what’s left over.

How's it Dougs fault? He's likely trying to get the best value for the club. The clubs might not be meeting a fair valuation. For years, and there's been numerous instances, we've all accused the powers that be of totally underselling our players (bar Borrowdale...Still not sure how we got a fee for him...).

This default position of everything being DKs fault is a bit strange when there's numerous reasons why the delay might not be our end and we don't know all the details.

Yeah not a massive fan of pretending we don’t know TBH. Vik says it, the ITKs say it, every newspaper says it. At some point if it walks like a Doug and looks like a Doug, it’s a Doug.

Ive backed King on various other things, I just think he’s a noob owner with a singular focus on squeezing every penny and doesn’t realise the realities of transfers. Like Sisu when they first came in and fucked up the likes of Westwood.

£17m is a very fair price for Vik. We clearly don’t have the interest at £20m. It’s very noble to try and get as much as possible but we are skint and have a squad that desperately needs players. I just think he’s playing this badly.

I’d like to think he has someone advising him about footballing matters in the background somewhere - hopefully not wishful thinking!

Or alternatively, if he's going to hold out he needs to advance funds to Robins so it doesn't hold anything up

We have no idea what Sporting have offered us for Vik. It’s all rumour talk. For all we know they’ve offered £10m. Everyone seems to know what the difference is in getting the deal done apparently shrug 🤷‍♂️

Well as I’ve said the word in Jan was if the right player is there so is the money. So you’ve got to ask what the hold up is.

Of course maybe the holdup is Robins still trying to work out what to buy like when you get birthday money as a kid.

And that’s it in a nut shell just rumour and speculation with nothing really said by the main players King, Robins or Gyokeres for that matter, lot of 2+2 coming to 5 at the moment, Vik is back on the 7th I believe let’s see what happens then.

The Westwood thing was buried amongst SISU fuckupability.

To be honest it looks like Sporting are that desperate to sign him they'll still be there even if we wait a short time and see what we can get.

Most of the "ITK"'s have been disgruntled weirdos like GIMOC so i'd take what they say with a pinch of salt.

And you would think King can get his hands on a few million short term, plus the fact in many cases we wouldn’t put all the money up front anyway.

Hopefully common sense will prevail. This can't go on into next week and risk the success of the training camp - I don't believe it will for what it's worth. Knowing the cost of everything and the value of nothing is no way to run a club.

If we can assume that Vik is going. Then it's now down to timing of the deal, along with the fee.
There needs to be a risk assessment of holding out for an extra "x" £'s and missing out on the players that MR really wants.
Additionally, integrating the new players into the squad is vital for early season performances. So, holding out too long on a deal could adversely affect season preparations.

Not necessarily. If they feel the club isn't likely to budge on their valuation then they could well just move on to pursue other targets.

I'll be glad when it's all over so there are no more tweets about how Coventry are a team nobody's heard of who should give the player away and be thankful to do so, Sporting are the third team in the three-team farm league, and posts arranging cagematches to determine whether a hypothetical sell-on can be counted part of a transfer fee.

Even with the 8 first team players we have, the season can't start quick enough

Vik's going to say it - he's trying to force a move. The ITKs have, well, a questionable record on being right (especially some of the more recent 'ITKs'...) and papers regurgitate what they see in cyberspace. It's hardly conclusive evidence.

The truth is, we don't know the ins and outs.

I agree with Fernandos take that regardless, we should be given MR some budget to get stuff done and then replenish that case once Viks money comes in.

LOL if Doug gets that he's a better negotiator than I gave him credit for. I appreciate people would rather get the money in now so we can start signing, but this isnt the case of a few extra hundred thousand, this is a few million and will make a massive difference.

They didn't even manage to finish third in that 3 team league.

It’s clear that king is either unwilling or not able to use the funds of Gyokeres sale until the funds are realised

What if Gyokeres plays hardball and stays for the next season and this drags on for another 4 weeks?

The issue is, there isn't a club at present that is willing to pay above £20m for Gyokeres. If the reports are indeed true regarding DK's valuation, at some point he'll to read the room and reevaluate that valuation to suit the interest received.

I think the issue is, if reports are true that Gyokeres doesn't want to go to the prem, it significantly narrows our pool of buyers which you are right in saying that his valuation is going to have to be adjusted.

It's odd he doesn't want to go to the prem, he comes across quite confident so surprised he doesn't back himself to be the main man somewhere.

Not like Doug to be charging top dollar for something that isnt worth what he thinks is it............................

We need Vik gone and quick. So what if we don't get the 20 he wants, the offer of 18 million and 35% sell on is more than good enough for someone who can fuckoff for free next season. Its halting all our plans for the rebuild as it stands

If the article is right he wants 25m Euros which would be around £23m pounds. £5m extra I can understand why Doug's playing hard ball. the issue, as Kenilworth mentioned, is that nobody wants to pay this outside of England (or even in England from what we have seen.)

But this is the issue, hes sticking to it and its hs way or no way again

Like with the boxes

Like with the staff

Like with the shirt sponsors

He needs to know that with Vik set on Lisbon and them not budging on 20million euros, hes risking it 3 fold. Losing Vik for fuck all next year, an unhappy player for next season who lets be honest does seem prone to a tantrum and half arsedness if he dont get his way, and will stop the rebuild we so desperatley need with such a small squad

It's obviously not an ideal situation, is it?

I'm sure MR will be pushing for a resolution ASAP as well as he'll be speaking to DK about the importance of getting things done as soon as they can.

Forgetting how Viks sale is impacting potential 'ins', my point about is playing harder in situations like this, still stands. We cannot be pushovers anymore...too often we've been in meltdown on here for poor transfer fees received. You've probably moaned about some of the fees received previously as well.

It does need resolving ASAP though, I do agree.

Vik out for £20m+, Hamer new contract, 3 newbies in and a new kit launch. That's my hope for the week ahead.
