The problem would have been obvious months ago. The football club could have negotiated at that point. It didn’t have to be a total new pitch but a solution that would make the pitch workable. The clubs could have worked together and negotiated a sensible solution to benefit both parties.
If the football club did a proper risk valuation analysis on the situation it’s clear that they will be the ones this will have a potentially disastrous impact on - in fact almost to the point of zero income for weeks on end.
So a worked solution would easily have been achieved where up front costs are negotiated and long term rental adjustments made.
No normal companies would act like spoilt children sending strongly worded statements on their websites

I know demonstrations, banners etc. have been poo-poohed on here but surely we've got to do something?
At the very least to apply some pressure on all parties and provide some more negative exposure? I'm slightly concerned that the WMCA might bail them out with the £13m for the "good of Coventry's sporting clubs".

Hmm, that's a big generalisation. In this instance, it's difficult in my view to make a case for it, but there are instances where it's entirely appropriate.

Did the club really know months ago it would be this bad? They knew it wasn’t being relaid but I’m not sure why people are jumping from that to they knew it would be unsafe to play a game on.
This was the pitch a few weeks ago, if someone had posted that on here at the time and said the first 3 games would be off as the pitch would be deemed to dangerous to play on I suspect the response would have been that the pitch was fine and they were a bedwetter

Well, given a sports club is a cultural asset, so assisting them in getting a ground when they run into financial trouble, rather than making it a business deal first and foremost. Further to that, making sure the rent is not set at an eye watering £1m+ commercial terms but something more realistic in order to help the sports club survive and thrive, as you recognise the benefits a sporting club with heritage brings to the city, assisting them with purchasing land with training facilities to improve the club's standing, and therefore the city's profile...
The list can go on.

Did the agronomists say when it would be safe and playable, did they provide an action plan to get the pitch into a playable state, if so why can't we be told this information ?

Just a thought but would/could Wasps, CCFC, and EFL not come to an arrangement where the EFL assists with pitch renovation? Obviously not outright paying for a new pitch, but maybe assisting with interim ground staff to help bring the pitch to standards? Surely it’s in the EFL interest to get the pitch playable ASAP.

We also need to be clear that Sisu can’t afford to build a new stadium and they also don’t have the money to take the arena off wasps.
It isn’t any surprise that article turned up in The Times business section in regards for a buyer to take the club and the arena at the same time. Sisu have known for a while these issues were boiling over with Wasps. This is going to be a turbulent season with these shenanigans.
My enthusiasm for this season is over before it even began. A real shame for fans ultimately.

Can't see Wasps agreeing with that. They probably want every penny they can get. We're clearly not a priority
Look we've done it before and sold players while we were in Northampton that was a gesture I think with nothing back.
If it was at the CBS it would be done on a contra basis against the rent, probably a 1st quarter payment holiday.
The wish for them to die off and pack up was always going to end up with something like this occurring. It's not a given but it may suit the owners that this has cropped more than the team anyway.

Although I did build a huge Lego stadium when I was, what, 10? 11? Couldn't bring myself to take it down, left home and when I came back to visit my bastard parents had dismantled it!
Better that than being litigated for the rest I think.
Would imagine it would placate the EFL, whether they have any pressure or sanctions somehow the the ACL arm and not the team.

Struggling to see what the club can do to remedy the situation. At the moment other than a few internet posts I’m not even sure what work is really going into the pitch.
Have we got the money to lay a pitch ourselves? Possibly but then surely as wasps would also benefit we’d want the money back. Then wasps don’t appear to have any and can’t afford for us to deduct from upcoming rent.
I thought they’d get the Wigan game on but now you have to worry about the rest of our August fixtures.
Can we see Andy Street coming to the rescue with a grant/loan for a new pitch. Would WMCA support this and do we think SISU really want the situation resolved?
