Well we got what we came for
Robins will get kudos for the goalkeeping change
Maybe I'm a Grinch but it's a bit depressing that we didn't have a go at a club in turmoil where the fans would have turned on their team had we gone in front
But what do I know.....

If we hadn’t got spanked on Monday we may well have done.

Yes, Maatsen has been very poor. I'm not sure how you can watch that and think otherwise.

As an outlet he did one good cross otherwise was offside several times, mis-controlled the ball constantly, gave the ball away a lot and just generally flattered to deceive. He's also extremely weak.

I know he is young but I wouldn't be in a hurry to get him back next season. Far from convinced as it stands.
Watching a different game to me, Maatson broke up play well good few crosses in. Vast majority of attacks seemed to go down that side when Gyok and O'hare struggled to get in to the match. Thought it was his best game in a while.

I think maatsen was ok today. Touch poor at times but got some good crosses in a d never hides. Invovled in a lot of build up play. Seen him play better.
A lot of players had poor games by their standards just felt like he was trying to grab the scruf more than most in a game where not a lot was coming off for anyone.

Maatsen was ok, but nowhere near MOTM. We managed to get him further forward second half and stayed wider last 20 mins and got 1 or 2 crossed is in. But didn't offer anything first half, and was beaten a lot down his left side defensively more so than Kane, and often out of position. 6/10 max.

I'd say Kanes crosses were poorer which evens it out for me. Although he got beat down in the corner a few times I thought he broke up play well in the middle of the park.

Robins absolutely bang on about the ref. Suddenly and later in the game the ref was giving everything, he was itching to give them that pen.

What has that got to do with Maatsen?

He watches a different game compared to most people

You think Maatsen played well then?

I think the fact he was visible is deceiving people. He did very little when he got forward and gave the ball away easily far too many times.

I don't understand why some of our players struggle to control a ball, or pass properly to a team mate consistently. It's been the same all season, and it's not about "if they could, they'd be in the Premier League" these are basic skills. We've had a really good season, playing some good football, yet the "if only" makes you wonder what we could have achieved.

It cant be tiredness, as they can be just as poor at the start of a match, so why?

Some of the passes, especially from Yok and Callum, were abysmal today. I'd like to think next season they can only get better, but why have they not improved this season?

Yes, some great play in a lot of games, but matched with some very poor play too.

Frustrating

Maatsen improved to a degree 2nd half and put a couple of half decent crosses in. Unfortunately they are few and far between. He's extremely wasteful and often is susceptible to the ball in behind him. He's made me actually appreciate McCallum this season.
