Fuck me, some of you lot on here

'im concerned about this signing'

My god. He had a bit of verbal with a player. So fucking what. Should be more concerned that we signed a player who's had 4 games in 3 years and had 2 contracts ripped up, who is also fucking AWOL as we speak.

Hes a championship quality Defender who can cover all across the back. For free. What more do you want?
But can he actually cover across the back 4. He looks like a right back that has plugged a hole a couple of times. We play with wingbacks and have two on the right already. Reports from QPR says he doesn’t like sitting on the bench and he isn’t going to dislodge Dabo so it’s right to ask the question if our meagre budget is best spent here.

Also lol at all the “don’t criticise Bright, trust MR, it’s all hearsay” in the Bright thread but if he can be used as a way to shut up people with questions on another thread then fucking have at him.

The difference is Bright was at least liked by fans and players last time.

This guy is hated by fans and players.

What a strange response.

So because the fans find him arrogant we shouldnt sign him?

Well lets turn down proven championship defensive experience because hes got an ego. Whilst we pay someone who is nowhere to be seen, with an attitude problem and been bombed out of his last 2 clubs because some fans liked him.

Christ almighty

Put it this way.

Would you rather have Pask and Dysrdale as first port of call with a centre half/ right back injury

Or a man whos spent 6 seasons in the championship, at decent clubs, with decent stats?

No Brainer

Just a quick one on the 'I don't think he'd be happy to come and sit on the bench' comments. Perhaps he won't, I'd hardly suggest any of our centre backs are undroppable if someone better came in.

He never cared about Ben Wilson joining us and fans and players really hated him at Wimbledon

We have two right backs so already have injury cover there and I'd rather we signed someone who was more comfortable on the left to cover there and doesn't have a history of kicking up a stink while on the bench.

He's not a centre back though, it's like if Dabo was being sold and fans of his new club were saying "he can fill in at CB too". Technically he can but as we've seen he's pretty ropey there.

He has never played CB in his life.

Given we have 2 right backs and 4 centre backs, with Pask and Drysdale as further cover, I'd rather we sign someone to cover at left back than RB.

I thought he'd be perfectly comfortable especially on the right of the back 3 we play, although I'm hardly a Todd Kane expert. Regardless I'm ok with this signing, he'd for sure be better cover for both full backs than what we currently have knocking about the joint. As I said previously, I think a good startard utility defender is just what the squad needs.

Pask is likely to be going and the penny has probably also dropped with Da Costa - we have to find a defender that can cover a few areas

He can’t be any worse than Da Costa

I think the issue is it entirely depends on who's available. There's no point just bringing in a random player who's simply not good enough otherwise we may as well just stick with Reid.

Also, bringing in a loan who's solely a LWB will be difficult as realistically they'll be playing second fiddle to Masteen. Why would their parent club agree to a loan for their player to us to just warm the bench? We'll have the same issue as we did with Giles/Wolves.

Admittedly Robins would probably be better off bringing in a player who can fill in right across the back, as at least that way they're more likely to get game time. But again it just depends who's available.

If Kane can fill in at both RWB/LWB then that suits though. God knows where that leaves Dacosta.

Viveash, Dabo and Clarke-Salter surely would give Robins some hint of who he is as a person, maybe even Maatsen.

Dont think we would be in for him if he wasn't ok'd by them.
Seems like a strong competitor to me.
We need more of those in the squad and less L1 material. The amount of deadwood we carry is remarkable but that's what you end up with if you dont take your chances. Kane is proven top half championship material.

Todd Kane is 27
Maatsen is 19, he ain’t gunna have a scooby

All of these arguments are saying we need cover across the back. I completely agree.

I don't see why we'd bring in a RB (a position we don't play) who has a history of kicking up a fuss for not playing to do that though.

I'd rather we kept Pask until January and let our scouting see if there is any talent developing who are on short contracts in the lower leagues or Scotland to sign then.

How do you know he’s for free? I’m sure they’d want a fee

Hes had one minor incident. It’s nothing like a guy telling fans he’s paid more money than them to do nothing when they have to work for a living

Exactly this.

For RWB we have Dabo, Dacosta, Pask, Rowe.

Obviously Dabo is absolutely miles ahead of the others and the backup isn't great. I'm sure Todd is a decent player and better than Dacosta & Pask.

But we have more depth there than we have at LWB...

Reading QPR's forum (and swimming through the hate and vitriol) there are a few comments suggesting that he does seem better at RWB than RB so I don't think he's necessarily an out-and-out full back and would fill in fine with the RWB role.

There's obviously question marks over whether he can fill in at LWB though if he was called upon.

Maybe DaCosta is on his way out? Loan perhaps? Just a thought.

got to be honest here this Kane signing scares me, not only his attitude, but the thought of him not liking sitting as cover on the bench which we all hope is this case.
As it crossed anybodys mind that this guy could be a replacement for Dabo instead of cover, God!! i hope that isn't the case, or am i being over dramatic

I can only assume Dacosta is being moved on and in any case is just a walking accident, Pask often looked completely lost at RWB, and it's too early for Rowe to bring him into the fold.

We don't have depth there at all.

He's obviously be a much better option than DaCosta but surely his wages are going to be much higher even if we were able to trick someone into taking DaCosta off us.

I just don't see the logic when we have more pressing concerns elsewhere. We have 1 LWB, 4 Cbs for 3 positions and, let's be honest, 1 ACM.

I think Robins and Viveash wants someone in who will be a starter not cover... if they can.
Kane has fought his way into every team he has played for.

Competition in training, something that makes the team better.

He's cheap because of the suspension.
For the same money we are just gonna get lower quality whos gonna clean Maatsens boots at LWB. Suddenly we have one a player competing for 2 or 3 spots every session.

Could be a steal.

Whether you rate Dacosta and Pask or not, compared to LWB it's much stronger. That is just a fact - we only have one LWB.

Robins was considering signing Martin Cranie who plays anywhere along the back line who is 34/35, Todd Kane by all accounts does the same job and around 8 years younger. I wouldn’t assume either if he signs he is just for the bench Robins has played two out of our four league games with Dabo playing inside the right wing/back.
It will be horses for course.

No he doesn’t do the same job

Well it’s been said he can play RWB/LWB and CB also midfield I believe. Similar to Cranie apparently
