I feel like Allen starting is just a waste of a player / position. I'm not completely against him as an impact late on just to hassle and run around, but for a whole game think he gets shown up. Same as Shipley. Hope we aren't shaping up too defensively, we have to keep going at teams and we will do just fine.

hopefully we can get the wingbacks high up else the gap between midfield and attack could be huge leaving Gyo isolated

So bright can’t be seen anywhere & Waghorn can’t get in to the team...no wonder they’ve put a halt on the budget 🤣

Hoping we can get maximum points from tonight or Reading, the next 4 games after that look difficult.

QPR (A)
Boro (H)
Cardiff (H)
Millwall (A)
Agree -. although I think Millwall will be wary of us, and we can beat them. QPR, Boro and Cardiff very tough.

Played well on Saturday.

He may well just be an impact sub but we may as well see if he has the quality to affect a game from the beginning before we write him off.

I think Allen will double up with O'Hare to press them. Critchley is supposed to like passing football. Hopefully we'll snaffle the ball of them at the back. Come on City!

I hope he proves me wrong and plays Blackpool off the park. We just haven't seen that yet since he's been here. He will definitely give his all at least which is better than some at times.

Could be a long old night for Gyo up top on his own if we’re going for a draw. Not a game we want to lose to a potential relegation rival though so I see the thinking.

Last season, when he had a run of games, he started to get up to speed, looked the part... and was promptly dropped.

So I wouldn't really write him off if he has a bad game tonight, either.

I think we have seen it. He was instrumental in our unbeaten run to win L1. Far more so than O'Hare.

(I'm not saying he's better than O'Hare)

I’d like to see Allen really impact a game. I know he won the penalty on Saturday but I want him to dictate a game as in league one I thought he looked a championship standard player to be honest

Last season he often ended up isolated, as he was up near the top, and the likes of Sheaf sat in front of the defence. What we need is for both him and Sheaf to be more flexible, and join up with one another. If they do that, sorted!

I thought Allen would start need to secure a more midfield possession but let’s not start knocking the selection before the game starts. Also looking at the bench the players are there to change tact if needs be

I'm of a similar mindset to you.

It just sometimes looks like his lack of height/physical presence means he won't make it at this level but he was quality in L1.
