Ticket prices (1 Viewer)

Also on season tickets we seem pretty competitive - certainly a lot better than some

So home fans are charged less? It just seems to me a flat fee in 3 categories according to your link - this is oddly a thread about match day prices for home fans.
You’re a bellend.
Apart from a few local promotions per season you have to charge away fans same as home fans. So that’s the reasoning behind our categories, it’s true pal you know it I know it we all know it.

Will a Barnsley fan pay more or less to watch Barnsley vs Coventry than a Coventry fan when Barnsley travel to Coventry?

I have asked about 10 times now.

I’ve no idea but it won’t be much of a difference, it’ll be within a couple of quid ether way. Like I say it’s not difficult to understand unless you’re an idiot.

I think the objections to the £30 price have mostly been focused on the opening game. A few pointing out that it could be an opportunity missed after the time away, and that it seems to ignore the game being on Sky with a slightly crap KO time etc. Almost all objections to these points seem to be from ST holders which skews the point.

With JSB prices, £30 for Cat A games isn't bad relative to what you pay elsewhere or in lower leagues. Some valid points being made, though that Cat A doesn't necessarily seem to be all about the quality of opposition and more about rinsing large away followings. Putting your own fans first would make more sense, and trying to fill the ground from the start.

But the counter argument is:
First game of the season
First game back in Coventry
First game we've been able to watch since promotion
First game we've been able to attend in over 12 months.

All these should make it a popular fixture and so a high attendance even with it being on TV. So with it likely to be a high demand game the price will reflect that. Had they made it cheaper and maybe added a few more fans they could have lost more revenue than they gained from those willing to pay the extra. We are of course talking about those fans who will only go occasionally as the hardcore support will likely have season tickets or match packages.

I can see the thinking behind the decision and although from a fans point of view and the wanting there to be a 'gesture' to the fans, the fact is the club needs to make as much revenue as possible and this is a fixture they're likely to be able to get it from.

Makes little difference to the number I think has always been the mantra

Which is correct. There is zero logic to have low pay at the door proving policy. No pricing model works like that in reality. Personally the tiered games seem a bit pointless and a mid price of £25 is easier but it’s madness to suggest the product is so devalued you’d have to reduce to much lower levels and even if that succeeds - which it most likely will not - the revenue is hit and your setting your benchmark price

I'd have loved them to have priced it low to guarantee a sell out but the more I think about it, it should sell regardless.

If you're a Cov fan who can afford to go, aren't restricted due to Covid and isn't at work, how on Earth can you miss the first match in 18 months? First match at the Ricoh since April 2019.

What's funny is fans will moan about the price but go and sit in a pub in town all and pay £4 for a pint.

We’re yet to sell 10,000 season tickets, tickets will be £30 for the Forest game, I think there will be about 18,000 there.

Bolton just released their ticket prices and it's £29 to sit in their main stand for Cat A games in L1... £30 for Cat A matches in the Championship, thank you very much.

Forest will sell 5000. First away day for them. So the crowd will be at least 20,000.

I just don't understand how people could sit at home and watch this (unless valid reasons obvs).

I don’t think Forest will sell 5,000

Every year, our fans have moaned about ticket prices and every year our season ticket prices are some of the best value in our league.

There’s also inflation to consider too - it has a small impact.

Don't think I've ever not gone to a City game because I thought the ticket price was too much.

People may not go because they are skint, but that is not the same as the ticket price being the deciding factor.

My issue is the price for concessions/kids.

I was planning on taking the kids up first game. £30 for me fair enough its championship football, but to charge those under 18/ concessions up to £25 is a joke.

For me to go first game thats £70. Add in your booking fees thats £75. Pushing £100 for me and a 6 and 11 year old for 1 game is taking the piss a bit.

The adult prices fair enough, but to be charging that for children i dont agree with.

Thats the next generation of fans
Morning saddlebrains,
Like you, I've got two youngsters and can't get to lots of games, so a season ticket isn't worthwhile.
The junior sky blues is the method I've used for last few years (and just signed my two up again last night), because the £25 membership will be quickly covered assuming I take them to at least two games (and not counting the free gift, discounts and cards for kids), which is good value.
I'm already looking forward to the first game we can get to - reading in late August.

Great news.
Someone was saying earlier in this thread they don't hear much about the JSBs, which is a shame. I'll just say for anyone with young kids the blocks for family seating are a nice introduction to live football, the pre-match activities by the club supporters are good fun and the discounts, Christmas party and mascot packages are brilliant for kids!
Oh, and the summer sky blues in the community football holiday courses are great too!
(Advert for club over!).

Gonna get my Forest tickets later

What's the protocol for getting into the stadium, proof of double jab or negative LFT?

You do realise all covid restrictions have been lifted? I'm pretty sure it has been on the news!

There are cash turnstiles too, so absolutely zero restrictions of any kind.

Forest fans aren't happy about the ticket prices. Some of them foaming at the mouth over it on twitter. We're charging them £20 for young kids, that is a piss take to be fair.

Whilst agreeing with your view regarding the pricing I have to raise the point that our fellow SBT members are currently foaming at the mouth on other threads regarding our squad Requirements.
We need money to buy players and pay wages and sadly it has to come from somewhere.

Not sure how reliable this source is.....

Suggests forest charged between £24-£27 for away fans (didn't mention youngsters) in 2020. If so, and if they charged kids that, then £30 isn't much more....

The main objection seems to be that it is televised and also the price for children. Most clubs will, if possible, downgrade the category of a game if it is selected for TV. We knew the game was televised before prices were released, but still went for Cat A.

Said before, the club need revenues and the overall pricing structure is OK, and ST value is excellent. The £20 for young kids though, not defending that, that's just poor and is being rightly slated by Forest fans.

They've only been given an allocation of 1800 so I doubt it

They'll get more I'm sure, but will still not get anywhere near 5K.

People are completely misreading just how desperate people are to get to a game, and also massively overstating the size of away followings in the Championship (we used to take more than most Championship clubs in League 1 where allocations were often limited). I might be chomping at the bit, others on here too, but overall there is nothing like the clamour people think there is. Cheltenham on Saturday was a case in point; 500 days + since we played in front of supporters, short journey, and 400 turn up; about the same as what we'd have taken in any other season for a friendly.

So too this whole 'homecoming' bollocks. People aren't getting giddy about that, we've played there for 13 of the last 16 seasons, what's the fuss?

Personally, I can't wait and cannot see why people don't feel the same way, but they don't. It'll be looking pretty empty on the cameras for the Forest game unfortunately.
