Season doesn’t start for ages so don’t understand the hysteria. The likes of Jordan Rhodes etc were no better than what we already have in the last season or so

Not really what I was touching on. It was more the recruitment aspect of it. Mowbray had no plan B as his knowledge of the marketplace was woefully poor, hence why we brought in the players that we did.

However, comparatively to where we are now, I feel much better knowing we have the structure and personnel in place to ensure that there's a backup plan if we happen to lose out on primary or even secondary targets. We just didn't have that with Mowbray.

Hence why I said “in anycase” recognising that I was digressing

So we've missed out on James, Collins, Walton, Burns, potentially Walsh and potentially Paterson (I still think he'll sign), we better have some good backup options, not that they're anything to get too excited about. I think Robins has a few surprises up his sleeve.
How do you know they weren’t our back up options?

Shame about James (quality player) but as many have said we’re not really in the finished article market so was always going to be a long shot as soon as other championship clubs showed an interested. Good luck to him. Did a job

We shouldn’t be treating Matty James decision to go to Bristol City as some sort of disaster just my opinion but I suspect MR has known for a while what James was doing. Boddy said last week that players were lined up and ready to go things will becoming clear in the next week or so.

This was a quote from McFadzean back in March;

Asked if he thinks City have any chance of signing the Foxes midfielder on a permanent deal this summer, the centre-half said: “Hopefully,” before revealing, “we all talk to him about it all the time and say to him, ‘any chance of you coming or what?’

“And we have a little bit of banter with him and he loves it here to be honest.”

Believe that this was true. But what Bristol have offered wages wise, contract length (compared to what we offered) and the captaincy. Complete no-brainier for him. Good Luck to him.
Good luck but not really

Seems like Plan B has played his way into a Prem loan move.

You don’t have to give anything away, but do you honestly get the feeling this summer is going as well as the last 3/4?

Our situation was decided earlier than 2 out of the last 3 close seasons yet we seem to be further behind the curve and the players were being linked to don’t seem to either follow the model or be particularly good.

Genuinely worried.

The players we are linked to and the players we end up signing are usually completely different. Plus, Boddy's already said that we might not sign anyone until July.

If I've learned anything over the last few years it's that Robins & Co know what they're doing.

Relax.

Solskjaer has said left back Brandon Williams is available for loan this coming season as he has enough cover in this position. Would snap their arms off and definitely take him!!

As he’s already featured in their first team and done well I reckon he’ll move to a lower-end prem club or top championship club

He was fit last season and played in the 23s for most of it

Was working his way back to fitness for most of it? And even once fully fit we were hardly going to change formations to fit in one player, considering we had no player that could play LW.

Hasn't been a success but not due to his lack of ability, it's bad luck and then not fitting into the team due to a chance of tactic.
