Gerrard is promising and lampard shouldn't be swept away after stuttering with Chelsea.

Would love Lampard to take the U21 job.

So the best person for the job shouldn't get the job because of nationality?

Good job you ain't cov fan
No my point is why should it be any different for players and managers? I am a City fan. Don’t get what you’re going on about.

I just found myself wondering why Holland wear Orange when their flag has no orange in it.

After the earlier political outbursts I'm staying well clear of that topic

Similar question could be asked about Italy.

The biggest positive that Southgate has a achieve is that he’s managed to create a really good, positive atmosphere in the camp, while still retaining the professionalism and focus. It feels like a little thing but I think it does go a long way. The players always looked miserable playing for Capello and Hodgson to a degree, while Sven fostered a far too lax attitude and let the team buy into their own hype. Think Southgate has managed to find the balance and appears to have a squad who’ve really bought into it.

I dunno. Looking back at things, I'm massively (but sensibly) optimistic. Mings was immense, Phillips looked like he's been an international for years, it was a great start against a very good side.

Would love to see Grealish against Scotland (but who do you drop?), and I don't trust Kyle Walker, but the big decision is how long do we let Kane carry on flattering to deceive? He was not right today, totally off form, and we can't afford to be carrying people who are off form like that- in a knockout game we need someone to convert the types of chance he wasted today.

Very good side? They were average at best

It really isn’t - football’s meant to be entertainment, they don’t want it politicised - you don’t go to a theatre & see the actors taking the knee...keep it away from football is all people are saying ffs, nothing to do with racism
Even John Barnes has said the same thing,it’s just virtue signaling
'Even John Barnes'.
If it's upsetting people like you I'd say it's being effective.

I find it very sad that players taking a stand against discrimination is being frowned upon. I know some organisations that some may not support or like have used the knee however the players are doing it for one reason only.

I don’t think they disliked breaking goalscoring records under Capello

Massively getting ahead of myself but going over the wall planner I was plotting the best route through the tournament.

What are peoples thoughts on the best route for England?

Win the group and it sets up a really hard last 16 game (Portugal, Germany or possibly France?) but then more than likely separates them from the likes of France, Belgium and Italy until the final.

2nd place would probably get an easier last 16 opponent (Poland or Sweden?) but then you are straight into the real big guns one after another

I want them to be positive, they controlled the game against a decent Croatian side. Ideal world for me would be last 16 against Germany at Wembley

Agree I would like the Germany game, was a positive performance yesterday I think we will get better as we go along,I think Grealish starts against Scotland who will sit in & try frustrate us we will need to open them up

I think after beating Croatia we should top the group. Think that will give us Portugal and it would be a huge game. Beat them and it opens up a bit and anything but semis is a poor result.

Think Portugal would dispatch us easily. Think they are the best in the Euro's after France.

you are probably right but until i see how they start the tournament i still hold hope.

Fingers crossed will try and funnel everything through an aging Ronaldo and that they will be playing Pepe at CB, they have also been hit by a covid outbreak.

Pepe and Dias would actually be a really tough partnership to break down. Despite being old Pepe has had a fantastic year at Porto. Certainly not past it.

I think they're a good side but we'd give them a game. Would be the pick of the R16 games.

To go deep into the tournament we'll have to beat a good team eventually, I think I'd prefer it to be them and then have a less tricky route to the final even if the risk is there that we're eliminated earlier.
