That’s because while the Yanks have very good supply they’ve just distributed it first come first served rather than systematically going down the ages and vulnerabilities. Someone we know over there is 27, perfect health and already had two jabs four weeks apart.

Can't have that level of gov't interference suppressing the freedoms of the individual.

the roadmaps actually worked a treat so far so why deviate?
I completely understand the desire to open things up faster but we need to hold our nerve. Every time we've ignored the experts and come out of lockdown earlier than recommended its been a mistake. Lets not blow it now for the sake of a couple of weeks.
The Yanks are basically open and are losing 700 people a day still despite being at roughly our levels of vaccination.
With others opening up before us that will just give us more data to look at. How have the US got to this position so quickly? They seemed to be in all sorts of trouble only a few weeks ago. Remember just before Christmas Tennessee was being described as the worst place in the world for covid yet now they have bars, restaurants etc open with no restrictions at all and plans in place for hundreds of thousands to attend a 4th July concert as if covid had never happened.

For instance my quandary is that foreign holidays were permitted last summer, but seemingly still face significant obstruction currently.
Which stance was right or not.

Case rates last summer were very low, and no variants of concern were around. This time there are more infectious variants around and case rates on the continent are still relatively high.

I think it's that places like India and Brazil are such shitshows and we no longer have Trump in charge so we focus heavily on what the US are doing. Maybe Biden has also changed things in some areas to be a bit more careful (although restrictions are largely state driven) and the vaccinations will have an effect on deaths. Just not as much as here where we're still erring on the side of caution for now.

Heard there are covid marshall jobs in some council area with contracts until 2022. If true, why would they be needed after June 21st?

It's a global pandemic and you'd be naive to think that after 21st June things will be back to normal.

Because I don’t think society will be 100% unrestricted after that date.

Im not saying we will be 100% back to normal after that date, I still expect to wear face coverings, keep a distance etc... But surely after the 21st June where most will have received at least their first jab and the results of the mass gathering pilots will have been successful means we have this under control now using quick turnaround lateral flow tests where necessary?

I don't actually recall seeing any covid marshall, ever. I'm not sure what they even do

My mate was one for HelloFresh. It’s literally someone who makes sure everyone at a workplace follows the rules.

Borders will be open and it’s a global pandemic - it’s too early to say things will be under control until we’re into 2022.

I don’t expect to wear a mask and distance when we’re vaccinated, I do perhaps expect continuing checks of vaccination or COVID testing status.

I saw a group of 3 of them on Earlsdon high street last year going into Greggs with clipboards.

Are they not people that direct people around testing sites etc?

I also imagine it's a zero hours contract so if they're not needed they don't get called in or earn anything.

Wow - https://assets.publishing.service.g...ransmission_in_hospitality_retail_leisure.pdf

The three studies provided no statistical evidence that personal exercise activities were associated with increased odds of becoming a COVID-19 case.

Coventry’s coronavirus rate lowest in months and no deaths in the past week.

As we open up cases are going to continue but it really is deaths that are the telling factor.

So far so good and this is with people loosening up probably ahead of what the government would like.

I think the 59% of Chinese vaccines will be the issue. As they don't appear to work

I find it staggering that a country that enabled such a spread of the virus could then profit from selling a vaccine for it, only for it to basically be a shot of sugar water.

I can't believe some countries have actually fallen for it.

Are the current numbers more relevant/accurate?
Due to the expansion of testing

Think back in early September ons were estimating between 3-4 x the measured case's.
How low would it need to be to track and trace it into submission?

Wouldn't worry about that in the slightest, they used that shite Chinese vaccine Sinopharm. Something dreadful like 50% efficacy.

Its if Israel goes back into lockdown that we should panic. They've Pfizered and AZ like we have. But at the moment they have basic normality

Israel just released latest data on Pfizer, 95% efficacy after 2 jabs.
Definitely appears that the issues in the Seychelles are related to the vaccine.

Looks like the Yank progress is slowing and it’s mostly because they’re politicised the vaccine like the giant dumbasses they are.

Why on Earth are we so desperate to copy their politics?
