Modern forward thinking young manager , ofcourse mistakes made at Bournemouth but its never clear who is completely in charge of transfers at some clubs , but he had a fantastic record there overall and achieved great things

Any other country, the job he's done at Bournemouth would have had him candidate for Spurs type level etc. Here, the only way he can prove himself is by going the Brendan Rogers route. Danger for him is Rangers are stronger now, of course.

Must be alone in thinking it’ll end in tears, his only foray away from Bournemouth ended in failure and he is stepping into a job where the expectation is far higher. Rodgers going there from Liverpool not really comparable as Rangers were a non entity and the title guaranteed.

Not failure, he was average at Burnley. Dyche being a rollicking success doesn't make Howe a failure in that job.

Well I don’t think Howe would view it as a success either and quickly went back south. Gerrard will be quite happy with this appointment I think

The thing about Eddie is he's only 43 , constantly learning and willing to learn , he's travelled all around the world to watch coaches at various clubs and their methods .

He's the type of manager most clubs should strive to appoint , if it doesn't work out then thats just that

He's somebody who deserves a chance at a big club, wherever that is. We just seem obsessed in the UK in giving overseas managers a go first, regardless of what's coming through. How do you get experience at a big club, if nobody will give you the job?

Personally, I think he'd actually be suited to a job in the Netherlands or Belgium, or somewhere slightly more progressive. The danger of Celtic is that second is failure.

Again, depends what failure is, really. I'm not convinced any of them have really failed. Moyes dipped, but whoever took over after Ferguson would struggle to fill the void. Van Gaal and Mourinho have both been successful really (Mourinho's second place was not bad, by any means!) and Solksjaer is doing alright really, there's tangible improvement.

But he will be at a club with a lot more resources than Rangers and he's in a worse position than Rodgers was so do a decent job and he wins the league and his stock may rise even higher than Rodgers had.

Look at what they spent in the Championship promotion season, lost tens of millions but yes fantastic achievement. Like Wolves fighting against all the odds to lose £50 million in one punt

They were tens of millions down getting promoted, they paid Kenwyne Jones silly money and he never really played.

It wasn't like it was Barnsley or Luton or somebody, they threw shit loads of money at it.

No but ultimately what they spent over the years leading upto promotion they recouped by being promoted to the Premier league ...which is worth 150 plus million regardless of if you stay up or go down ..
