Not sure what Robins can do about players missing sitters. Let be honest we should have been 1 up in the first couple of minutes and 2 if not 3 up inside 25 minutes and game over.

Not excusing the performance at all as it was all downhill from there but unless he comes out of retirement and plays himself I'm not sure how you blame him for players missing easy chances.
First half was alright by me, and you're right, there's not much he can do about missing sitters but he didn't have to settle for the draw at HT. We came out deep, our midfielders held their positions and we made very little effort to win the game then. Against a team as poor as that, in the situation we're in, people are rightly livid.

As has been said on lots of other posts, why haven't Walker and/or Godden been getting some match sharpness in the U23's?
Its a fair question. None of first team squad who aren't playing and / or coming back from injury seem to be getting minutes in the U23s. Are the squads being kept separate as part of the covid protocols as I don't remember it being like that in previous seasons.

I’m not calling for his head but he is way too negative and recruitment this season has been questionable - Biamou’s continued presence upfront is fucking weird

I'm not sure hes signing them tbf, didn't we sign half these donkeys from a spreadsheet.

Yes if only Robins had more passion and better body language from the players we could be the next uhhh [checks notes] Wycombe
Agreed. I think the Robins not going mental on the touchline complaint is a bit of a non starter.

Firstly that has never been his style so he isn't going to start now. Secondly Viveash takes that role.

Agreed. He should have shaken it up at h/t...played higher up pitch and pressed, pressed, pressed. Poor bobbly pitch we could have forced errors from their back line. It was a game there for the taking but appeared to settle for a point.

Lowest budget in the league (according to MR) yet we are fourth from bottom. Overachieving at the moment IMO.
If we finish bottom he should be sacked. The owners should consider sacking the personal responsible for failing to achieve a budget bigger than the bottom three of the championship, giving the manager an incredibly hard task

Recruitment has been awful this summer and has been clear to see as the season comes to an end.

There’s this perception we have some amazing recruitment department. But the players we got in are decent L1 players at best.

Dacosta is another bizarre signing from abroad. Sometimes he’s good and most times like bambi.

Hamer was the marquee signing but he had a few good games and he is average at best. He’s not going to the premiership anytime soon.

Waker is invisible and doesn’t seem interested. No fight about him.

All the loan signings are shit bar Leo. Sam is a liability, James I don’t see what he adds, Sheaf (with a bloody obligation to buy) is a hospital pass and Viktor might as well not be here.

He should just be told to walk home

He’s out of ideas and we are sliding fast. He’s not good enough at this level and he’s also like most managers stubborn and one dimensional

That performance was inexcusable - his January transfers are shite and his stubborn refusal to acknowledge even bakayoko is better than biamou and to change shape and formation will set us back

Thanks For the memories and all that but Boddy needs to act now
Of course your entitled to your option but ,I have neve read a post that has positive attitude , outlook , undertones, you are a joyless c**t. So in your opinion who would you have as manager ? And what players would you buy with our budget ? And I want names not someone who could do ? Or someone who play ?
I do agree that was crap today . And crap against Luton, but if your going to fuck the manager and players , then YOU tell us who we can afford who's better and how we should get them ! Or just fuck back off to match of the day punditry.

I don't want him gone but my frustration with him is growing and growing.

Stubbornness on player management is costing us a lot, as is negative tactics.

We haven't even seen Gyökeres yet, why bother signing him? Our players are breaking down left right and centre, and getting no time in the U23's to ease back in. Certainly players can do no wrong, and others get no look in. Substitutions are bizarre or non-exsistent.

Today was predictable in my opinion. I hope we stay up, but if we don't I cannot really say any of us should feel hard done by. We should be doing better.

Who is available right now who you think could bring about a change in our fortunes? Genuine question and not a dig.
I mean the best options would be Neil Harris and Gary Monk (as end of the season options) both have good records in the short term firing up.

monk did it at Swansea and Birmingham. Neil Harris has done good jobs at both Milwall and Cardiff

In an ideal world you put the players returning from injury in the reserves until match fit (a tactic I always employ on FM).

But in the real world if Dabo or Godden rupture their ACL in an u21 game when we desperately need our best players for the run in people would be fuming.

Robin's and Vivash have done remarkably well. The problem does not lie in them alone. Luton was a warning sign of players looking like they had lost some edge to their game. Today they needed to put that right against the worst team in this league bar none. They not only failed at that, but were almost as bad as the opposition in terms of play. The tatics were strange from the off, long balls, ping pong and a lot of missed passes, energy to get to the ball first, and movement. Add to that we appeared to go backwards or sideways, with the ball with no player looking to take things forward and out of ideas. Throwins where we stand and stare instead of quickly on with it. Given the chances we did create, either missed or chances that we just didn't get hold of it's really poor from these players. Hamer twice who should have scored early doors, and when he made space for himself and could have been the hero, only to shoot poorly. max, don't get me started. We just did not look like we were all on the same hymn sheet. That's down to Robins. I also suspect he has been rather too lenient with them of late, and should for once be having a go at them. We want a completely different performance next game, back to what we do best. Robin's needs a rocket up the backside of the likes of McCallum, Hamer, James, Sheaf, O'Hare and remind them life will pass them by in league 1 if they don't get their act together. Oh how we miss McFazdean in the side. Kelly is out as is Dabo now. Never thought James and Kelly could work the same pitch, so not overly concerned. But what has Allen done wrong? Rather see him start than Sheaf next game. All very frustrating and all in our own hands. Don't invite the pressure through the door. 9 games we should approach like they were cup finals. Back at the Ricoh next season, so every extra incentive is there. James playing for a contract as is Sheaf, Max, Ostigard, Hamer, DeCosta, so let them earn it.

It’s a bizarre argument. Don Mackay wasn’t a great manager but he did a job and kept the club up - and was a lot better coach than Robins - no one believed Sillett would keep the club up - he was a lot better than Robins.

Robins has a budget and he’s spent it on Decosta, Kastaneer, Jobello etc hes offered Bakayoko a new deal - the club needs to stay up and now even on CWR fans are calling for his head who are phoning in and saying it

I’m not at the point where I want him sacked or anything like that but like Earlsdon I’m getting increasingly frustrated with him as weeks go on, some of the decision making is just baffling.

The continued persistence with Biamou and O’Hare as our sole attackers, the inflexibility with the system and then inability to meaningfully change things in game are costing us big time. Add onto that the dreadful January window and our continued mismanagement of injured players and well, it’s hard not to be annoyed

A lot of mistakes were made in the summer too, like only having two loanees to play LWB, no bringing in any creative players aside from O’Hare and an asthmatic German, and most crucially in my opinion, putting ourselves in a box by only recruiting to play with wing.

I said after the Derby game that we’d have to be spectacularly poor to still go down this season and I stand by that, we only needed 10 points from out remaining 11 games and now we’re down to needing 9 from 9, however I’m a lot less confident that we’ll be able to do it now given the level of performance being shown.

I have always been a big fan of Robins, but he is picking a player up front who keeps missing sitters, or very good chances at least.

As has been said on lots of other posts, why haven't Walker and/or Godden been getting some match sharpness in the U23's?

Robins said in his interview that he is going to give players minutes in the U23’s during the international break.

This is always a pointless question. The fact is you never know who is available until the applications come in.

But you can help missing sitters!!!
When there’s more goals on the bench than in the starting 11 you’ve got problems.
I’d have a quarter fit Godden ahead of Biamou any day.

Cowley, please tell me you are not being serious?
Tight budgets require managers who can get everything out of a player...robins isn’t that type of manager, problem is there isn’t a glaringly obvious manager I would say yes too off the top of my head

The fact is we entered this league always likely to finish ahead of Wycombe and with Wednesday looking a basket case and docked points we’ve only got to finish ahead of Rotherham - who we did last season - to survive

There is zero excuse not to achieve that and if he doesn’t he’s failed

Which budget is he referring to ? Wages budget, turnover budget, transfer budget ? Combination of some or all?

The efl issue a wages budget anonymous report to all clubs I believe quarterly to operate the SCMP in leagues 1 and 2 but the same budget restrictions do not apply in the championship. It is a limit of losses over 3 years to 15m (from memory so I might have the figures and mechanics wrong ). I expect a similar anonymous report is circulated in the championship too

In the lower leagues your wages budget is limited by the efl to a percentage of agreed turnover.

That doesn't appear to be the case in championship where it has more to do with what the owners set as budget to keep below a loss figure. So to some degree the budget we have is a choice.

We try to operate at a level where cash flow is balanced. Most clubs don't. So it is self limiting. I think all clubs should be like us rather than build losses but it is not a level playing field as it stands.

So MR blaming budget isn't necessarily as clear as it seems. The implication is that its because of efl rules and it isnt necessarily.

To achieve our player budget we relied on the player sales cash from the previous season. I am sure there has been some support from the owners sufficient to ensure survival in these covid times. The alternative was to go bust, I expect only to see the minimum amount to keep afloat.

However the key thing with any budget set is how it has been spent. I have got to say so far it has been more £s than substance or quality. The squad assembled is struggling largely because the squad we have is not mentally and in some cases physically up to the task.

In league 1 we were no where close to the biggest budget or biggest wages spend ......... we went up as champions...... the deflection to budget size hides some home truths in the championship I feel

Grendel has been absolutely gagging to make this thread for a while, you can just tell.

Of course the last time he made this thread we went on to win the league.

Also the man he wanted to replace Robins has just been sacked by a League One team.

We could lose every game for the rest of the season and Robins would still have my backing and that of the majority of fans.
