Don’t know if I’m just paranoid but there’s some global level fuckery going on somewhere. Weird medical agency decisions, threats of blocks, now shortages. All seemingly out of nowhere with vague explanations that make no sense.

Another remoaner can’t you just admit that this country have got it right regarding the vaccine roll out and the beloved EU have failed miserably and those countries suspending it will have blood on their hands with the extra deaths?
Macron and Merkel should hold their heads in shame also Van Der Leyen now saying she’ll block the vaccine being delivered to the uk and you all still want to be in the EU club?
Have a word with yourselves!!!
Btw had my first jab today and what a lovely feeling from the woman directing me in the car park to the two ladies in the room one on the pc and the nurse giving me the jab.
Everyone so positive and happy getting things done!!

everybody's admitted the country has got it right regarding the vaccine.
When are you going to admit the government so many things wrong it has given us one of the worlds highest per capita deaths and a 37 billion track and trace system not fit for purpose?

Over 120k dead, aren't you bothered?

On a general point, I wish I could switch the news off. I've tried avoiding this thread, avoiding news on TV/ radio, but it still creeps through somehow! We certainly get too much information nowadays, and there's always a worry in it. We can't control whatever happens here and, I'd like to know of course if we've cocked up, but until that point it just adds extra worry onto things.

There's something to be said for walking around oblivious until you fall down dead!
I've turned off all news alerts on my phone, was sending my anxiety through the roof. Don't watch the news either but obviously still see what is being said on here and social media, although I try to stick to my own social media feed and not get lost in trending topics.

Its increasingly difficult to know what sources to trust. Even mainstream, relatively trustworthy, news sources are pushing out leading headlines to try and get clicks.

Yes we made mistakes I agree but who knew how do things with the global pandemic it was listen to the scientists week by week
Also yes the track and trace is a joke it never worked ie I went to a pub in Portishead in September and there was no track and trace no masks and no hand gel available at the time.
I also think countries in Europe will overtake us in deaths with their policy atm.

I trust it, it's just the rush to get the news out first means it's often not the full story.

And that leaves gaps for the mind to play havoc!

Glad we could have a fair debate just seems the EU need to realise what their doing by halting the vaccine atm hope they come to their senses nothing against Europe tbh hope we all get vaccinated.
Onwards and upwards Tony!!
It’s 10 countries in the EU out of 27 that have taken the decision to stop rolling out the Oxford vaccine as is there sovereign right, although I don’t know why they would. The EU is still recommending it’s use. Pfft, facts.

Haha, spot on NW. I try to moderate myself a bit. There has certainly been huge amount of negative info out there in recent months ie just seeing daily ‘death figures’ can’t be particular good for everyone’s mental wellbeing !

Here we go

Love Twitter...everything from its to keep us locked up, to under 60s are refusing to take it, to its because the vaccines are ‘dodgy as fuck and under investigation’

Think the gov has got to come out and communicate the reasons otherwise these rumours will get out of hand. Something has happened in the past 24-48 hours as nhs responders were told that supply would ramp up from this/next week. Hopefully we’re just being overly cautious

ps for those getting concerned about second dose supply, you’d imagine if there was any risk of not fulfilling these within 12 weeks they would have stopped new first doses immediately, not from 1 April (that could be another 4m+ at current rates)

They said on the news hancock was asked 4 times at the briefing and skirted the issue before admitting that its likely those in their 40s and definitely in their 30's and before won't get their first vaccines by the end of July as promised.

Opening all of the economy, etc was on the back off all adults being vaccinated by the end of the summer.

I thought he said that they stand by the original deadline of all adults to be offered vaccine by end of July (I’d missed a fair bit of it so I might be wrong but pretty sure that’s what he said)

Edit - just checked, I think I did hear right (from guardian)

‘The British health minister, Matt Hancock, said on Wednesday that the UK was on target to vaccine the top priority groups in the country by 15 April.

‘We’re committed to all adults being able to get the jab by the end of July, and we’re on track to deliver on that commitment,’ he added.

All current slots will be administered. Theyre just saying they won’t book in new first slots for under 50s after 31 March for four weeks

I read it as all current slots that had been filled, if you've had an offer but not booked you miss out. Pretty pissed off tbh but not surpised

I have seen the caveats Steve just feeling especially tense at the moment. Had another class all sent home because of one case today.

Yeah, I’m not surprised youre feeling tense, think most are. The one thing that was going so well and then this unusual letter

ps wasn’t being sarcastic but the way, it was a genuine ‘don’t panic’ just yet, I know you’ve got wedding plans so hoping there’s no disruption. Fingers crossed mate

Totally understand that, and I do completely get that primary manufacture of vaccines and pharmaceuticals can hit technical hitches at any point (spent a good year trying to fix the buggers!). Second doses were always going to have to take priority around now anyway I guess.

So what is it? They need to be transparent here. Social media awash with people panicking. They need to explain

I strongly expect it's unforeseen technical problems in primary production. The mass production of this one is a bit more prone to such issues than Pfizer's because it involves preparing huge quantities of modified virus as opposed to just the viral genetic code
