Rotherham v Brentford game off (1 Viewer)

I can't imagine they are bullshitting, that's a bit conspiracy theory to me. Should probably look into why it's always them though. Also I'd like an answer as to why the games vs Luton and us aren't automatically called off, I'd have thought they'd have to be.

seriously, if it's a 10 day isolation period as required, they will have to postpone Luton and us next weekend as the games fall inside that window. They're gonna be fecked by the end of the season, I'd sooner have points than games in hand
Likely our game will be off too.

Seems to me that Rotherham are purposley banking games in hand. Worst team in the division for games in hand

They've now cancelled the Luton away game too (on the Tuesday), so the fit players will now have had a nice long rest before our game (unless that gets cancelled too - farcical re: fixtures, which need completing before season ends, Can't extend it, as it disadvantages other teams)

Will they not have to cancel the game vs us too?

Could work to our favour if they have to cram games in over shorter rest periods

hopefully. If they are allowed a longer season then it’s a joke. As will know what they have to do before kicking a ball !

Clearly they are breaking protocols as they have had so many games called off.

I wonder if there is enough time to prove certain players are 'clear' before our game. if they can muster 11 then they should be made to play it I would have thought. The Efl will want them to get restarted asap. In terms of them being relatively disrupted re: preparation, and not being able to mix together and possibly absent players, I would have thought it would be to our advantage. if it is cancelled, hopefully we are able to play them when they are completely shattered!!

Edit: we are further disadvantaged by the fact that Luton could have incurred injuries/suspensions in the Rotherham game, so we lose that small advantage for the Luton match the following week too!

And teams with nothing to play for will down tools against them. Has to be within current season parameters.

From the Rotherham forum....

I don't understand how the virus has hit us this hard given other clubs have bugger squads and less issues.....

Ok - who do we think is in our bugger squad ?

If you have been informed that you are a contact of a person who has had a positive test result for COVID-19, you must stay at home and complete 10 full days isolation. Your isolation period includes the date of your last contact with them and the next 10 full days.

That whole first team played together on Weds night and a 10 day isolation means our game against them next Sat can’t go ahead?

I doubt they’re doing it intentionally but it’s pretty disgraceful that they’re now on their third(?) postponement for Covid cases. Clearly not following the guidelines to the best of their abilities.

If it were that straightforward, surely they would already have announced it as cancelled.

I'm sure it took a few days after the closure of the training ground and other fixtures postponed that our game vs Sheff Weds was officially postponed.
Fully expecting this one to go the same way.

What are the rules? Surely if there’s 11 fit registered players they have to play?

It's more likely to do with isolation rather than numbers fit.
They might have to do another round of testing to determine squad impact... honestly not sure though.

Even though they have a more congested fixture list, letting them have all this recovery time for injured players (they have a few out at the moment) gives them a big advantage if there is any extension to the season for them. If they have to cram in extra games to play 3 in a week later on the season - tough. I don't mind their club, but no way should they be able to gain an advantage through this.

So what? If one teammate tests positive they can’t train so they don’t play? So effectively a club could have 40 cancellations in a season?

If one team mate tests positive, they'll do the close contact tracing. Some will have to isolate depending on when their mate tested positive. Some won't.
I think they test in groups to determine close contact too - somebody at the club told me that.
They'll likely re-test after one person In a group tests positive. If others negative- fine.
Read the Millwall article. Gives a decent picture.
Pretty sure they'll have to consult public health England also, they will give guidance.
This type of thing can't be just made up/done to advantage someone. The efl will do their diligence on what I've mentioned above too.

Don’t think there will be any season extension unless the EFL move the whole May 8th program as all final day games have to start the same time.

Make them play two games in

I bet they will be ok to play us, after they have had their nice little rest and freshened up.

Yeah worked really well for Millwall

True, and they had an even longer rest. I suppose the flip side of the Rotherham argument is that they will have to cram a lot of games into a short period of time, and they will probably suffer with more injuries.

Remember Rotherham are no Man City out of their 14 remaining games they have 3 top six challengers and three just above them, us being one they will be playing three games every 7 days until May 8th that’s bloody tough for any team.

Surely their players or staff keep breaking protocol then?
Thinking the same most clubs have had no game called off due to their players having Covid.
What are they doing wrong is what should be asked.
