Joke Commentary Yesterday (1 Viewer)

Listening to the biased Norwich commentary yesterday it actually was quite embarrassing comments such as –‘I’ve seen the replay definite penalty took the man clean out’ ????? ‘Norwich players are a class above’Coventry have not been out of there half they have 11 men behind the ball’ (we had missed three half chances when he said that) ‘(then with 20 min to go) Norwich are tiring because we have so many players out (named all the players again) ‘What would have happened if we had all our players fit’ (named all the players again) even after Coventry equalised in a game we probably should have won in the end – ‘Norwich will probably win the league’ – ‘Coventry might just scrape staying up as they have showed a bit of grit’ ‘These teams are nervous about coming here’ - what a joke, they were obviously watching a different game –

I wouldn't worry about it, ultimately they are commentating with Norwich in their mind like CWR for us...
That's not a true reflection of the game, Norwich were matched by a side recently promoted, a side that's improving slowly each week and a side that will be fighting to stay up but on blanace look like they are heading the right way.

They will play worse teams this season

I watched a live stream thing on their Twitter account where they were talking about the game after full time. They went to Huckerby who gave us some praise saying we deserved the draw etc but then they cut him off immediately. Proper Norwich City propaganda. Was embarrassing how much they couldn't accept the draw.

The foul leading to the Hamer free kick that hit the post had them furious too. It was never a free kick in their eyes, just a strong challenge.
Ffs, Fadz (i think it was) jumped to win the header, their player had no intention of the ball and just took him out mid air. They were furios at that.

As much as we all don't rate CWR commentary at least its not as biased as that tosh from Norwich yesterday.

Party Political Broadcasts are the same - completely biased and no balance at all... it's all about how great their party is and how rubbish the others are. It makes me so cross.

Politics on a whole nowadays is the same. They don't care about putting forward proper arguments or debates. They don't look to get put in seats by being good at their job, just by digging as much shit on the opposition as possible and making the opposition to worse than they do. Bit sad really.

Please don't let's ruin this thread with politics. My fault entirely, but my intention was taking the piss out of thinking that a local commentary would be neutral - actually nothing to do with politics.

Greg Downes was awful not just his over the top bias but as an ex-footballer he is there to give football perspective say what you like that’s what Oggy does.
The only thing Downes ever won and achieved was when he was a sky blue player. Listening to his biased commentating yesterday you would think hehad never played for us. I remember watching him every week in the cup year and beyond and whilst he could put a decent cross in for a full back he was an awful defender and we all new he was the week part of the cup winning team. Even the interview with David Pleat about the final he said they new Downes was the week link of the side and the game plan was to exploit the left hand side of our defence

Shit footballer who was lucky to play in the top league who has turned into a shit commentator.

When the ex players day returns if he does make it known there boo him so he doesn’t return, we owe him nothing but he owes the club his one medal of note of a very average career.

The only time I went to Norwich was to get dumped just after the Thorn caretaker spell. To compound matters my bags got stolen on the train back. Always good to ‘nick’ something off them when we go there

To be honest I've heard a few local commentaries and that was by far the worse.
It's one think favouring the local team and calling certain situations in their favour but when you start to blatantly ignore what's actually happening you're not doing your job properly and that was clearly the case yesterday.

Made me appreciate Clive and Oggy though and I won't be so quick to slate Eakin in future. I've been a bit too harsh on him.on occasions

Love it when opposition managers, fans, commentators etc bleat about how ‘unlucky’ they have been. It’s all excuses to try and mask their own inadequacies. They still had a team with a lot of Premier League experience...against one with none. And if you count up how many minutes have been missed injured by players who would expect to start this season I bet we match them. Jones, Jobello (till yesterday), Godden. , kelly and Walker etc etc have also missed games. Even shippers. And without our number one keeper (same as them). What a joke of a club... you just have to get on with it like every other club in the country

Not an issue for me. I would expect The slant to be towards the club they comment on and to slate them for that is churlish. Greg Downes is not there to big up Coventry City or hark back down memory lane but to cater for the Norwich listeners.

I quite like the fact that someone mildly incompetent like Clive can make a career of watching the game for free every week and talking. It gives me hope that I might yet, even as I approach 60, become an astronaut.

Haha! I thought that last line was going to say 'even as I approach 60, I might be able to get a job doing it.'

Didn't see the astronught bit coming!

It has to be unexpected to be funny (not claiming I'm funny, but I try). I read Jimmy Carr's book 'The Naked Jape' many years ago - it's a really good analysis of what makes jokes funny. And he's the master of the one-liner.

Typical sort of bias you expect when a team is top of the league and they start to get a bit carried away as to how good their team actually is. As if little peasant Coventry dare to stand toe-to-toe with such a team.

What made me laugh was how much they went on about how threadbare their squad was. Boo hoo. As if we haven't had injuries this season. This is a team who has come down from the Premier League against one who came up from League 1.

The team they fielded yesterday included;
Gibson £15m loanee
Aarons £20m player (allegedly)
Hanley £3.4m
Skipp loanee from Spurs
Tettey £1.3m
Placheta £2.7m
Stierpermann £1.5m
Sorensen £1m

Our entire starting XI yesterday cost a few hundred thousand - the undisclosed fees for Allen and Bakayoko. Then we brought Hamer and Walker on to take it up to perhaps £3m total for all 16 players.

We've come a long way in a short space of time. Hopefully we'll start to get a bit more credit as the season goes on.

Well he could point out he has a cup winners medal and more appearances on the top flight than all our players out together

lets face it, he was poor. If you've paid for audio commentary he's not giving you anything approaching an accurate picture of what's going on on the pitch which is what you've paid for.

I didn’t hear him but I’d be very surprised if he’s worse than another cup winner Dave Bennett

Didn’t hear him yesterday, but did on my way back from the 6-1 cup thumping. Although we were as bad as he said, he didn’t hold back any unnecessary venom. I know it’s local radio so there will be some biased. You’d just expect more impartiality from comms /co-comms. Not needless digging of heels.

I agree. CWR is fairly balanced, Norwich was terrible. However I’m not sure Oggy liked taking over from Clive when he went to interview. Not heard him do that before
