My intention this morning had been to go down to Warwick Racecourse and run the parkrun course, a full-on attempt at a 5km pb.

But seeing the rain and standing water i didn't think it was a day for an optimum time. So instead did 12 x 2mins hard/2mins easy. 10 miles with warm up and warm down.

Just been bought one of them smart watches and was just setting it up-didn’t realise you had to have your phone with you also during your run/excercise?
What is the point in that?

Depends what make you get. Huawei do a cheapish model with GPS built in

Not to proud to say it made me cry the first day, it is getting better very slowly I have an mri scan next week as my knee has gone numb so there might be a trapped nerve.
Totally understandable that you feel like that. I have a couple of friends who have been through this and it must be so painful. Hope you manage to get the right help with it.

I can’t stand having to take my phone with me so I splashed the cash on a garmin 645 music. Hooks up to Spotify on my wifi and downloads my playlists offline and connects to Bluetooth headphones so I can track my run, get alerts, and listen to tunes without needing my phone. Pretty sick tbf but spenny. Think it’s also got something called garminpay but not tried it yet

Back to a 23 minute 5km pace at the minute after putting on a load of weight in the summer and losing fitness cause I was in a much hotter climate so slacked on running.

Really want to get below 20mins. I was at around 20:30 at one point but seems so far away atm

Garminpay is ideal. You’re never without cash even if your just out in shorts and tee with nothing but your watch.

Consistency is the key.

I'm hoping to go over to a nice flat course tomorrow morning for a 5km pb attempt (weather permitting).

Stepped up to 6km today, which I really didn’t find difficult but then I think I ‘paced myself’ a bit too much - just under 40 minutes. Rest up and will probably do it again on Monday.

Had a stinker earlier! Only ran for 20 mins and had to stop 🥺
Got a bit of composure again and managed to carry on for another 20 minutes-legs were like lead!
Haven’t had that for a while as have been running for 45-50 for a few weeks without any problems?

Yeh. Been trying to mix it with a few longer runs. Did a 10km this morning and now probably 4 hours later my knee feels a bit weird. It doesn’t hurt as such when I’m laying on the couch (working hard or hardly working?) but if I cross my leg or anything or have it at a right angle for too long it starts to ache a bit. Never had knee problems before ever but that can’t be good

It happens mate. Funny you should say that I did a 10km this morning which is probably the furthest I’ve ran in a while (been doing 3/4 mile runs the last two weeks since I’ve been back on it), and my time was terrible.

You know when you have that thought in your head like “shall I just do 5km instead” lol. Had that all the way through. But you ground it out and that’s what’s important! Could be anything, tired legs, poor sleep, heavy meal the night before or big breakfast. I run faster and find it easier sometimes with music to stay motivated. Podcasts can be hit and miss.

Keep it up!

Managed to walk for 12 minutes today, the first lap of six minutes was fine but the second was a bit sore. The one lap yesterday took over ten minutes so there is improvement.

I might be in pain at the moment but if we score tonight I will be out of that chair.

Yes-I’ll try the music route for a bit as always run listening to a podcast which has always been ok?
I’ll have a bash Tomorrow (hopefully do 5 miles) and see how I get on.

Adge I recommend the socially distant sports bar podcast though

Went over to Warwick Racecourse to run the Parkrun course this morning. 18:50.... a bit of a disappointment, but it was very windy out around that flat open course, which probably cost 20-30secs.

Still some more hard work required, but i feel it just has to "come together on the day" and i've got a better time than that in me...

Delighted with this-most I’ve ever run! For serious runners this will probably be laughable but my target was 10k by the end of the year and I’m not far off.

Brilliant. Quick too, slow down a touch and you’ll get 10k easy. My first 10k was about 70minutes. Down to 44pb now.
