Apparently it’s all over Facebook (according to the wife) that two Rugby schools are closing years due to outbreaks. Not sure how true that is if at all.

I'm not surprised,No real distancing going on ,No masks in Local shops .
Same at euro car parts on Wednesday.
Slightly sore throat today .
It feels like the regular thing that goes around close to the leaves falling off the trees ,and when they start to grow again. My old Ma's great old wives tale ,very accurate in my opinion.

It's not worth worrying about, apart from taking precautions what can you do? If you get it you're unlikely to even have symptoms let alone anything else. Carry on as normal with sensible precautions and you'll be fine.
Have you had it? It ain’t fun and I had a mild version and am in my 30s with no health conditions.
Possibly, I stand by what I said, they estimate something like 70% don't even have symptoms, you can't live in fear, take sensible precautions, worrying won't stop you from getting it, so just get on with it.
Im not worried about getting it. I’m worried about passing it on to the parent I live with with multiple serious health conditions who probably won’t survive it.
I never said you were worried, I replied to someone else who said they were. Again take sensible precautions, those precautions are different for everyone depending on their circumstances. Unsure as to why you've tried to make an issue of it.
My own new normal is basically like the old normal, think that's got me down a bit. Plus seeing the rising numbers and kids going back to school and both coming back with colds just gave my confidence in things a bit of a kicking. I know we have to live with this shit, it ain't gonna be easy.

Yup. Tbf Marty has said take precautions and he is right on the basic level. Taking those precautions will hopefully shield those who need keeping safe.
Im just hoping immunity lasts longer than the three months that study suggested. I e just had to move in with my parents while I wait for my house to go through, just as schools are opening. Feels pretty vulnerable TBH.

Yup, for different reasons feel the same. I was reading how France and Spain had an increase in cases with limited hospital rises as it was among younger people, and now it's hitting the older people as a result and hospitalisations are going up again now. Haven't checked the accuracy, but it's av rain to pause for thought.
Immunity or partial resistance to the more serious impacts?
Think there's been a certain amount of press suggesting the latter.

Feel a bit of a fool myself this week as have had several interactions with my family .
Sure it's only a cold or less , however a little foolish in the circumstances,they wouldn't have been happy had I banished them .
They told me it was negative but that was after they told me they lost it, so I'm not holding out much hope the results are accurate.
One of the other theories is that there are 2 prevalent strands of Covid but the one most linked to this 'second wave' is the more infectious but less deadly one
Think the 70% was from one uni study in the UK, WHO have said around 40% which is the most accurate figure we will have for a while i imagine.
Doesn't really it matters if it's 40% or 70%, it doesn't change the advice, take sensible precautions for your situation.
I did read somewhere that there is a theory that the reason kids are less susceptible to Sars-cov-2 is due to their exposure to so much other coronavirus, which helps with their immune response.
My little boy had a bad cold immediately on returning to nursery but I've rationalised it as being a good thing really, being shut away and not exposed to anything for so long probably helps nobody in the long run.
It doesn't preclude that other generations have been exposed over time though?
That's a hell of a rapid increase in a day. Only likely to increase with schools back.
I'm just hoping we're now getting it more mildly and serious infections requiring hospital or deaths stay low. But as it becomes more prevalent again is the viral load going to increase due to being more exposed to it, leading to a greater likelihood of a severe case. If people continue to wear masks, stay reasonably socially distanced and wash/sanitise things it might be alright. But people are becoming increasing lax with those things (even me and I'm quite a worrier about these things)

Probably, but we do have a slightly higher population density making transmission more likely so we may be slightly worse, just as we were earlier in the year.

Just been called and told my appointment has been cancelled as there is a shortage. They hope to be able to reschedule in mid October. Quick look on twitter suggests this is happening everywhere.
My 15 year old lad in July was taken into Walsgrave as his pancreas has failed. He is now a type one insulin dependant diabetic. They believe that there is a covid link as there has been a spike in this condition with children and healthy people. There is currently research being undertaken globally to try to identify the link. The consequences of Covid are still not fully understood and could come back to bite people in the future. I suggest that people don't become complacent until we fully understand what it is we are dealing with. I'm a fat bloke and had no symptoms whatsoever, if anyone should have been in trouble it was me. My son had a cough for one day, my wife swore she had it, but we don't know. We have agreed to be monitored as a family to help with the research. Just letting you guys know. Please be careful and don't become complacent.
I don't pay for it but looking on social media it seems Lloyds, Boots etc are all cancelling appointments and saying mid October at the earliest.
Would have thought if there was a shortage those of us who don't pay for it, being the ones that are told we should get it for medical reasons, would get prioritised.
