Not really adding anything others haven't already said but very pleased with Hamer, looks class, just need to be careful he doesn't pick up too many yellows. Giles looks like he will do a job on the left. O'hare still O'hare and really pleased we have him, would have missed that intensity. Impressed with Drysdale, expect big things of Pask as well. Burroughs looked nervous and shattered at first but grew into the game.

Second half expectedly disjointed but still help up relatively well against a team ready to play in Scottish prem. Jones looking sharp, Hilssner not ready but glimpses of a player. Have always thought Baka had some raw attributes that meant there was a lot of potential in him...somewhere. I always thought what he lacked was consistent desire and bravery. He seems to have added some muscle and it looks like that could be key to him progressing, particularly in the kind of role we ask of him.

Last night showed we really need another CDM to challenge for first team and would like to see a young and hungry prem striker on loan to challenge Godden and bring different attributes.

Encouraging performances considering the stage of pre-season. Some great attitude, particularly from the likes of Drysdale and Baka. Hamer looked to have real quality.
Hilsner looked like he didn't know where he should be and looked very unfit, understandably. I am surprised by his size that he is a winger. Jodi showed some nice interchanges but again understandably looked cagey whenever contact looked a possibility.
I have always liked Mason and not sure why Robins perhaps doesn't. I thought he showed a good touch and speed. Another who looked keen to impress. I also thought the young lad Rowe did nothing wrong when he came on. Pask looked good but tired near the end of first half.
Overall a good workout. Hopefully Rose, Dabo, Westbrook, Allen, McFadzeen and Dacosta will be fit soon.

Lovely headed knock-down to Shipley for a shot too, those two have a burgeoning understanding.
Yes nice header but fuck me is that enough? Knock down header and offside goal?

It's hard to talk football on here sometimes as fans get too defensive of their favourites.

Godden is our best striker. But he might not be in top 15 in championship I fear thats all.

Thing with Godden is he often looks ineffective then he scores goals. I agree we probably need better, but equally I wouldn’t be surprised to see him play like that every week and score 15 in the Championship. I remember wanting him dropped at points last season for similar reasons, then he’d pop up with a couple of goals.

I suppose the question is can we carry that in the Championship like we did in L1. He does work very hard in that position and it might be a factor of that that he doesn’t get as many clear cut chances.

No wonder Morelos was moody yesterday for 'Gers.

EXACTLY my thoughts. EXACTLY

Not putting him down just wondering if we can improve position for season ahead. If it's not possible I too think 10 to 15 goals is on the cards which is still good.

Any news on Dadashov yet? Like a few have mentioned as much as I think Godden will score goals we need more options up top. Not adverse to keeping Max and Baka as backups for a season and seeing how they go mind.

Was quite pleased with yesterday and squad seems to be coming together nicely.

Morelos will never make the top grade as a striker, discipline issues will always play against him. Suarez had the same issues but was totally special.

as someone said, the only Columbian import that never did any damage in the East end of Glasgow.

Full game on ifollow now for anyone who wants to watch it back.

How did Kelly do? I know Hamer and Kelly partnership got good reviews but individually how did he do? Traditionally takes about a month of games to get going usually

Good, very solid and energetic, refreshed after the break. Should have hit the target from Hamer's delicious corner, though.

Did anyone hear Clive play Erasure's new single after the game (I think it's called "So Very Tired and Old"...) then after it, enthuse "They've still got it, haven't they?!" Might have been his finest moment since he pulled off the ball boys.

I dunno if Steve Coogan is looking to retire from playing Alan Partridge any time soon, but if he is, we have the ready made replacement.

He isnt vital. Sentiment aside he isnt good enough for the championship.

On what evidence Garry? The same was said last season when Max stepped up to L1 after a long injury lay off. Once up to full speed he did not look out of place in any way, and in terms of power and technique I would say he's one of the best in the squad. That goal vs. Peterboro as a best case example. Also seemed to me to cause Championship club BCFC many problems in the Cup.

We always seem to have a need to 'label players as not good enough' and I don't get it - 10 minutes into the game yesterday, a pre-season game, our first game in 150 days after being back in training for 10 days, 19 year old Jack Burroughs (playing out of position at RWB) was being written off by some on here as not good enough. It's mind blowing at times.

Trust in Robins to make the right decisions and support the lads on the pitch.

That was pretty hilarious! He had a really decent game, especially going forwards. People said he was "blowing out of his arse" after 10 mins but of course he lasted longer than the rest of the starting XI! Probably just nervous at the start rather than "tired" (but at least he didn't puke on the pitch like Haynes). I know the commentary was useless, but even two as biased as them took the time to say how impressive he had been. Not one that there's been much hype about but with our natural right sided defenders injured, he's sure to get more chances in preseason and could be a nice surprise. At any rate, he seems more suited to that positon than Osbourne was...

Do i need evidence to form an opinion? He isnt good enough and I don't want to say that after his 2 years but I'm just realistic. Grimmer leaving caused a meltdown but look at us now with dabo. We need players for the level we are at and sadly I don't believe he is

Hilsner looked the best of 2nd half team in my opinion

Interesting reading this entire thread before watching the game. Having now watched I agree Hamer looked promising, drysdale looked very good. So pleased we signed o hare he's quality and Shipley looks like a classy player. He He links with players really well. Gilles looked like he has potential too. Good first half.

Second half was different but we showed glimpses. Gotta be pleased with Jones, some nice play and confidence. Baka looked good too and deffo bulked up, looks very strong in the leg now. Hillsner did look a yard off all game but also looked like that wasn't his position. Williams to be captain shows how highly we think of him. Hopefully a league 2/1 loan this season.

Eccles looks neat and tidy, confident and shows willing, not afraid to take the ball but he also looks like a boy in a man's game. Think he deffo needs a loan out, I imagine he has a future with us but I think now he needs experience. Drysdale played 3 games at Solihull moors and finished the first game with a clean sheet and a bust nose, that's how you learn!

Thompson on the ball I thought looked decent. He got some stick on here, at fault for the second goal and partly the first but he looked OK. Again, potential of a player there but perhaps not championship. Rowe at rb showed great courage as well, getting on the ball and bursting forward. We have some great potential, love our youth policy recruitment and if DD, Williams keep developing like they are then that's cb sorted for the future.

Just watched second half of rangers v Leverkusen...the germans haven’t been out for f second gear. More than ever can’t see them troubling Celtic. In England the current rangers team would be mid/lower table Championship
And I’m sure a fitter CCFC would have beaten them the other week

To be fair I was listening to Steven pressley on SSN earlier and he was saying rangers and celtic can't compete financially with some Championship clubs.

I know he's a blurt but I agree with him

So footy math you must think we would better their result in Germany today too?

Not sure what ‘footy math’ means. But as i indicated Leverkusen didn’t have to break sweat to comfortably beat Rangers. I don’t think we would beat them but do think we would in a months time beat rangers
