Do these commentators not realise only mason and max and Baka started games in L1 last season (not sure if jones and Eccles started or came on as subs). If rangers are as good as these think they are on for a rude awakening.

Probably not, mind you, I couldn’t name many of their players either.

It was our first preseason game against a team who are pretty much ready to start their season. Not a bad result and the consensus is that our first half was good. Take the positives.

Of this lot....mason looks the best of the bunch. Hillsner looks like he might offer a bit but currently v unfit.
But rangers must be disappointed against u23s and non first teamers. Commentators seem to think rangers are playing great against world champions.

It's called showing a visiting side some respect. Something I haven't seen on here today.

Good pre season game, saw more positives then negatives. Baka works as a defensive forward imo, willing him to push on this year

Not going to listen to the after match...cant listen to the Ranger's commentators any longer.
Happy with the performance from cov though...we acquitted ourselves quite well esp in the first half.

Would have been interesting to see them against our fully match fit first 11 from last year.

well, that wasn't so bad. first half we looked quite mobile and fairly sharp with some good touches from O'Hare and Shipley, second half lacked the intensity, didn't see much from Jodi or Max, and Hilssner looked a couple of yards off the pace but Baka was in beast mode.
Overall not a bad return after the lay off with more games to come. PUSB

I enjoyed that, in truth - we’re five weeks behind them in terms of preparation and there isn’t anyone out there letting the side down.

Back line looks well organised and willing to get stuck in, midfield of Kelly and Hamer is very promising.

2-0 is no disgrace. If we played them again in a month I fancy we’d turn them over... :)

Right based off that for the hottest of takes:

GK: Marosi is class. We’d best hope he doesn’t get injured though.

Defence: Pask and Drysdale look capable. Williams and Burroughs worth keeping around. I’d let Thompson leave. Mason and Giles OK for the left. Dabo and Dacosta will sort the right. Would still like a CB. More to up the overall quality though.

Midfield: we need 2 x CDM or we need to be lucky as hell. I’d let Eccles go and bring two in. Jodi and Hilßner are not CMs, I’d like to have see them in the first half team. Hamer is class. Good to see Shipley continue his development.

Attack: Baka looks like he might step up. Godden still has the finishing. I’d let Max go and bring in a ST.

I reserve the right to 180 on all opinions after the next friendly.

Good pre season performance. First half team v good. Second half under cosh but stood up well. All players and Robins can take heart from this. And great to be able to watch them again.

Of course Rangers would be a lot sharper and at full strength as well but....

Mason did his cause no harm. Hilsner lacks legs but good with ball at his feet, seemed to run around aimlessly a bit. BAka making something happen. Jodi Jones looking ineffective with those second half players. Wilson looks a competant back up keeper. Pity we could not have played with the first lot a bit longer but I think it was a good day and lots of positives.

Didn't see any of it unfortunately. How did the new signings play?

And did Jodi play?

Thanks!

I expect us to sign a striker cdm minimum in the coming weeks barring Hamer we’ve recruited squad players I feel so far Hilsner weight or body shape maybe an issue he will need to get a lot sharper

Agree with this. Need at least another 1 CDM.

Well I know I’d feel pretty deflated if I watched as a Rangers fan. Nauseatingly biased and lazy commentary, and if they really feel as optimistic as they sound then Scottish football is every bit as shite as most people say.
