Pretty sure we've made more signings than the rest of the league combined. Think it's only Derby, Rotherham and Norwich who've signed a player so far.

Fantastic signing. I’m confident he will end up being a better player than McCallum irrespective of whether he could get in ahead of him last season. Another great bit of business City! What a day!

But he isn't popular with the players..management aren't impressed..i called bullshit before and turns out i was right
Yep, i've always been skeptical of the bullshit 'better days' chats! Just another attention seeker i reckon......

I think we are a 20 goal striker away from a good team (a team that will stay in the championship - and may even look towards mid table)
I am not sure we can afford that type of player however, so will depend on getting lucky in the loan market

Well pleased, Robins has had a good look at him as he has with us, knows the system so will be no bedding in and this signing won’t dent the budget much if at all. Looking forward to the next one.

Apparently they were very surprised when he showed up today
Giles isn't unpopular, he just didn't get a chance last time he was here so it's a surprise he's back
Hope it works out for him this time

haha just joking mate, never really seemed a right time to bring him on last year, mccallum was playing well and the we always seemed to be winning by the odd goal, would of been hard bring him on.

Hands up - I fell for that line, so when folks on here were bigging up signing him I argued against it. It was clearly not true though, and I am more than happy to trust MR's judgement on this.

I have to say though I am very impressed how early the club are doing their business. I think they have seen the value in the last couple of seasons in getting signings in early, which hopefully will pay off again.

Boom!

Love it when signings make sense and fit a clear pattern.

That’s the last “must have” piece of the puzzle I’d say. CB and DM cover would be nice and really we need a ST, but for the first 11 I’d say we are OK even if not where we want to be. No glaring holes in the squad.

Dadashov in at ST next I reckon, but I’ve been predicting that since O’Hare signed 😁

Lad from Monaco would be next level. Reckon we might go for a DM on a free with a bit of experience. Then maybe a couple of gambles on kids perhaps.

Fuck me, we’ve done most of our business and the Championship season hasn’t finished yet!
Would of liked a better striker we need cover at CDM do we now think that’s left back sorted ? Or will mason go and another one who will be first choice come in ? I don’t fancy mason in the championship I dont think robins will either after dropping him last season maybe Giles will be first Choice

How much of McCallum being ahead of Giles last season was down to the loan agreement ? I'm not sure how regular the agreement/requirement for the loanee to play if they're fit still is in football ?

Giles can play full back, left wing back and wide left midfield, we have Mason too and Da Costa who can play left side also there’s highly rated youngster Joe Newton on the horizon too.

It’s interesting they’ve sent him out loan without even looking at him in pre season, teams don’t do this with their top prospects so I suspect he may be available to move on next season

Cant see him being backup. I think Giles first Mason challenging. Robins seems to like multiple players challenging for a spot rather than “first choice, second choice” even if in reality it works out that way when the season is in full swing.

We deffo need a ST, I think CB and DM as well. But it’s not like I’d be overly worried now if we didn’t get them like say before Hamer we had a clear Walsh shaped hole in the squad, or how we had only Mason to rely on at LWB before today. I think Godden Kelly and McFadz can all step up under the right circumstances.

Why are you confident?

I was never really that big a fan of McCallum, always felt Mason was the better prospect and as such wasn’t too disappointed when we sold him. Secondly, the reviews Giles got from his stint and Shrewsbury and how highly Wolves seem to regard him makes me think that he’s plugged a significant gap in the starting XI (assuming that the Monaco rumour is dead in the water).

No offence but if you wernt a fan of mcallum I question your judgement on wing backs.

He was huge part of our promotion

Really? McCallum is a fantastic player in my opinion and will only improve at Norwich.
