Blitz spirit, stiff upper lip etc.

We literally voted to make our country worse off, voluntarily, despite being told it was a bad idea. Now we're staying out and going to the pub etc despite being told it was a bad idea.

Can you imagine them trying to have a full lockdown it will be all out chaos

The first death was 16 days ago and we've had 176 since. It is not even comparable. There have been bad flu seasons in the past of course but as you point out, there is a at least partial vaccine for that.

I don't think the virus is a conspiracy but nevertheless presents an opportunity. Some say that the permissive attitude from Johnson in the first place is a softener to bring in draconian measures later.

One conspiracy that I think may be true is how the whistleblower - a young, healthy doctor - ended up being a casualty of the disease. Very convenient for the Chinese authorities who'd tried to silence him and stop the news of this leaking out.
