Deffinately over-rated in my opinion.
Can nt head a ball, poor tackling,2 poor passes for every reasonable one.
I ll accept he runs around alot tho.
More than happy if he improves as the season goes on but we need far better.

2 poor passes for every reasonable one? Sorry, but that is absolute bollocks.

That they think Hyam was just filling in for someone suggests they're not aware of him being player of the year last season

Shipley has worked on a key area he was lacking - his fitness. His involvement in games has been greater and his interchange passing far better

He will get goals as well and will work for the team

Everyone laughs at the mention of Paul Telfer but in his first season his engine was good and teams need players like that and I would out Shipley in that bracket

Overall he has been more effective than Westbrook who is insipid by comparison

He's under-rated by some, and over-rated by others. I think the measure is whether he'd get in other L1 starting XI's, and I think he would for most teams in this division, although not the top few. That said, I'm a big fan of his, and can only see him improving.

He has had a good start to the season I think and has improved. Whether it's because he is more central rather than stuck out wide I don't know.

Like many modern footballers he doesn't go to ground to tackle - he harasses and pressures opposition into a mistake instead.
His fitness has got better season on season.
He is a simple footballer who keeps things ticking over. Shows for the ball and looks to move it on quickly. His short passing accuracy is generally fine.
He is not a creative midfielder though - his passing in the final 3rd is genuinely terrible, just doesn't have the vision or touch for it.
His strength is running beyond the forwards and getting into goalscoring positions in the box. He'd be good for 5-10 goals a season from midfield on his current ratio - has a habit of scoring goals in important games too.
Shipley's no world beater but he is a decent squad player who has shown that he can be trusted for a run of games - he will have a good career at this level.

I think that’s right!! If he manages more than a few goals he may go further but I think definitely league 1 professional career as long as he likes

he is doing well in central role. my biggest issue was fact he was not a left winger no matter how much his fanboys would pretend he was excellent as.

as centre mid hes a good player. capable of magic moments with his finishing and works hard. not best tackler and sometimes sloppy passing but as a centre mid hes an important par tof squad. him or zain will prob be dropped for o hare eventually but thats life.

He is definitely improving. Not the finished article by any means, but I think Westbrooke and Hiwula are far weaker players.

Definitely ahead of Westbrooke and adds a good balance to the side, especially with a left foot. I’m sure he’ll be benched once Allen is fit but he’s a very good squad player to have at this level.

I can’t personally remember him ever having a poor game in the CM role.

Under rated I feel him kelly & Allen would be Robins first choice midfield

I like him, solid player, willing to get stuck in, can spot a pass, gets up and down the pitch well, decent set piece taker.

Westbrooke will be dropped before Shipley.

LOL this is perhaps why people get on shipleys back cos his fans r so dumb
Lol, not a particular fan of his just saying he’s done ok, and works hard, as opposed to Hiwula who switches off and goes missing during games.

Good player, fitter than ever before and has improved confidence - he's trying a few touches and quick passes he wasn't before. This may be more emotional than pratical but I like having a player in the team who really has the right to kiss the badge. The same way we would if we were lucky enough to be ot there in the shirt. Who comes from the area and connects with the fans - which I believe Shipley really puts effort into doing on and off the pitch. It's a cheesy song, he's one of our own, but I like being able to sing it and how it makes me feel. Be interested to know if his localness brings anything to the team dynamics at times.

Hiwulla makes little impact on games for the majority of it. His work rate has improved a bit but the issue with him is he can have zero impact on the game and his mentality when he is having a bad day is poor

I've read here that Shipley Wesbrooke and Hiwula are poor. On another thread from last Tuesday that Marosi was another Burge, McFaz makes mistakes and Rose out of his depth. Dabo has been in for some criticism too and I've not even started on Baka yet. unbeaten in 6 so far, just imagine if our players were decent ….

The game passes Westbrooke by he looks better because he gets involved in set pieces. Shipley has improved but will struggle to get in when Allen is fit and the lad from villa up to speed

I had it in my head that Allen would be replacing Westbrooke to be honest. No idea though... Probably a good thing we can have some rotation as i do think Shipley and Westbrooke both look like they'd benefit from a rest here and there

His main asset is his goals. If they don’t come I fail to see what he really adds in a game

Be honest with yourselves, look at the stats, can somebody tell me why bayliss was more highly rated? In terms of all round contribution Shipley is no worse
