Bayliss off? (2 Viewers)

This quote from him stood out a bit - "The sheer size of the stadium as we pulled on to the car park, it's massive"

It's got great history, it's theirs and it'll be more full, but I find it hard to imagine anyone being bowled over by the scale of Deepdale.

Smaller than the Ricoh & St Andrews isn't it? Strange thing to be impressed by.

I'm being cynical here, but do you think there was any possibility that this deal was lined up weeks ago, but City asked Preston to delay it until last minute?, or do you think Preston generally made a bid yesterday?

I think that's exactly what happened

Jak Hickman seemed to think so

No chance Alex Neil agrees to his marquee signing not joining until the day before the season starts.

Strange one Preston, if things go to plan we'll be a bigger club in the same league soon

I'm by no means a pessimistic fan and think we'll have a good season still but this is unlikely really...

And another "average" year in league 1 could have ruined his chances, he had to take the chance now and moving to a club where he is more likely to be playing and could be a key player is 100% the way to go

Good luck to him

What's that based on after how he did for us last year?

Cant judge him on last year other than reportedly being a good vocal influence in the dressing room/ He was unfit when he arrived and then had a shoulder injury.

i just think we lack a leader and out and out defensive midfield cover. he is a decent option.

obviously im hoping for bright and a striker too

Fair enough....i think this is where the ground issue comes back into it though, would he stay with an uncertain club future?! Preston have a pretty solid setup and you'd say are unlikely to get relegated anytime soon

No way was it agreed weeks ago and delayed. They may have been interest and bids, but no the actually deal has been done ove the last few days. City fans are great at making things up in their heads and all of a sudden it is reality.

Gutted if I'm being honest, was looking forward to watching him kick on this season. Leaves us weaker in midfield.

People will talk up that we're better than last season but

Chaplin
Thomas
Bayliss
Sterling
Probably Bright too have all progressed and stepped up a league

And
Willis
Burge

Have moved on to a bigger club who will almost certainly get promoted this season, albeit Burge will start on the bench.

Ignoring chaplin, that's 6 of our best starting line up going to better things.

To move forward you build on your core of better players, we're having to do a total rebuild.

This has the feel of the Mowbray season, a good squad who should have been good enough for play offs, a missed opportunity and a complete rebuild and waiting to sign a star player to miss out and having to settle for an inferior replacement.

That said looking forward to tomorrow

Not really, he has to impress their fans. New signing, young player, just saying sensible things.

And
Willis
Burge
Thomas - was a loan so not sure how you suggest keeping as one of our core. We have signed two wingers though.
Bayliss - Replaced by Allen, so far seems better.
Sterling - Replaced by Dabo. Similar mould, our player.
Probably Bright too have all progressed and stepped up a league - Window isn't closed yet.

And
Willis - Replaced by McFadzean
Burge - Dog shit, replaced by Marosi (sp?)

Weird post really.

Yeah, I deserved more than 4 to be fair.

Yes, I agree you did, in particular because you are right about keeping hold of the core and building on it. Not cashing in and then trying to get a load of new players to gel.

Bayliss going is a real stinger. Preston! Hard to believe that that's the state of football today...

Well I know this is another one of those "my mates dads friend blah blah" but a friend of mine is very good friends with someone high up in the club. 3 weeks ago he told me a deal was agreed with a championship club and would go through last minute, the day before the season starts. Robins and everyone at the club knew this was already a done deal. As for why they held off announcing it; I haven't the foggiest idea.

Good luck tom thanks for the memories confident young man with the ball of his feet. Signed a long term deal with us maximising the fee we received unlike others who ran out their contracts and left for free.

I find your analysis and assertions wanting on a few levels.
1. No credible source sighted, pure hearsay
2. Your not known here and that leads me to think you could be an imposter
3. The way you type has a whiff of WUM about it.

IF you are as I suspect a lad on the wind up I recommend you look up narssasisric disorder as WUMs are disproportionately affected by this type of personality defect.

£2m is pittance in today’s world of football, but I wish him well. Not really sure about Preston now a days. Are they likely to be challengers in the Championship? Or looking to maintain that status.

Either way I hope he goes onto prove he’s a decent footballer!
