No idea so going to get stuck into the Betfair Exchange 'laying' market. I'm laying the shit out of the front runners hoping someone sweeps in as I can't see all the petty in-fighting being helpful or any of them getting enough support. Too many personal agendas imo.

Personally I'd like to see someone take it and deliver Brexit without a long term requirement to cling onto power. A short term appointment of someone like David Davis would be ideal - perhaps his time had gone, but they need to be able to unite the party and absolutely must be a Brexiteer.

Exactly, delivering Brexit means not just the withdrawal but dealing with the downsides (and showing us the benefits), it needs a long term appointment but then I suppose the parliament term ends in 2022.

I have a question for you, as you are using betfair exchange. Currently, market for 'when will Theresa May officially cease to be leader of conservative party' has July-Sep as the 'favourite', with 'April-June' lengthening. As she has announced that she is resigning as leader on 7th June I would expect 'April-June' to be favourite. Am i missing something? I appreciate she will still be PM until new leader is elected (so probably PM until July), but does she not cease being conservative leader on 7th June - or does she remain as 'offiical' leader in interim period despite having resigned?

As she has announced that she is resigning as leader on 7th June I would expect 'April-June' to be favourite. Am i missing something? I appreciate she will still be PM until new leader is elected (so probably PM until July), but does she not cease being conservative leader on 7th June - or does she remain as 'offiical' leader in interim period despite having resigned?

Betfair reserves the right to wait for further official announcements before the market is settled.

Betfair expressly reserves the right to suspend and/or void any and all bets on this market at any time in the event that Betfair is not satisfied (in its absolute discretion) with the certainty of the outcome."

We’ll be trading one set of red tape for another and in many areas they’ll be near identical. A point that was actually touched upon on Question Time last night. The market went both ways after the announcement this morning. May-June dropped right down to 1.1 whilst July-September went up to about 7. In last few hour or so things have changed.

If they go for a more long term option then Sajid Javid, a previously Eurosceptic MP who voted Remain concerned about business and doesn't want a soft Brexit remaining in the customs union could be a decent fit - currently at 33/1. Whether he'll get the gig I don't know, but certainly a tempting price.

It's a starting position from which negotiations of trade that have equal benefit to both sides can be reached. I don't see any down side to that.

In three years we’ve spectacularly failed to replicate 40 EU free trade deals. However long those promoting a WTO brexit claim it will take will be an out and out lie when you compare it to the reality of doing a trade deal.

Loads of countries trade under WTO rules.
We'll be the only country in the world (bar one other which is so poor it has special status, can't remember its name), trading solely under WTO rules until we start get some trade deals sorted.
Average time taken to negotiate a trade deal is 18 months and 4 years to implement so we could be trading under them for a while unless Liam Fox somehow comes good on his ludicrous claim that we'll have 40 to sign the day after we leave.

Gove turned on him the Monday after the referendum when he read Boris’ Monday newspaper column and Boris pretty much said we were doing a Norway. Don’t think he’s saying that anymore.
