Looks like Lewis Green is going to play in America.

Was watching a documentary recently about a young lad who used to play for West Ham, was massively rated by the Hammers, but due to a lot of difficulties after being released from the then Premier League club he ended up playing Football in America - his name escapes me!

The life the lad now lives in America is brilliant, he's much better off because of the studies he does in the background, but also still holds a chance of playing in the MLS in the future.

Will try to remember his name.

Could potentially be a decent life out there (depending on where he is going). Get some sort of scholarship as well.

Definitely. The standard isn't that good, MLS top league is probably similar to League one on a good day, maybe even League two. So if you're a young player who is only going to make it at League two/League one level, why not go to the the highest league in North America and with average attendances of 25k+ with other benefits like scholarships etc.

Not sure if MLS is a little better than league 1 as Newcastle have taken a punt on Atlanta United Miguel Almiron 20 million

Wow! That is huge, didn't see that.

Games I've seen have been pretty poor standard though. I still think League one is right

MLS is getting better and better, with Man City owners owning new york and money being thrown at it, it can only get better, the difference is that the league own the player's contracts (not sure that is a bad thing)

got a friend who is bang average at football but went on a scholarship while studying forensics in the USA and loved it, got to play in front of thousands, came back and cant only play semi pro

I do watch a lot of MLS after spending a bit of time there, there are a few quality players there and Newcastle taking a punt on Almiron was a big surprise (I don't think he's that good). Whilst there are some good young players and those superstars that have moved there at the twilight of their careers I think the standard of football is League one/league two. I watched a lot of Portland Timbers last season who got to the final of the MLS play-offs who had a great season, their captain and best player that season was Liam Ridgwell which says all you need to know about where it is currently at.

I think it's getting better though, the infrastructure of the game and level of interest in soccer is rising rapidly and I can see it being one of the top leagues in 20 years time.

I’ve been watching some old games on YouTube, great team at the time like Derby, Leeds, Liverpool etc with plenty of internationals, and what I noticed was the number of direct play, crosses into the area and most importantly headers and shots from all angles, something we don’t do anywhere near enough and that’s shoot or cross, seems to be all about keeping possession. Number of times we get into good attacking situations and the ball ends up back at our centre halves. We need to be more positive I my opinion.
You mean before football turned into chess?

I am shocked on Addai it seems like a total waste of effort and money signing a bloke you don’t trust to play

Thought maybe Davies was worth an extension, but he didn't seem happy with his game time, and if this McFadzean deal is on the table, then we have that covered.

Obviously Burge is done. Don't think many will be upset about that. The writing was on the wall for him I think as soon as Robins said what he did about Stockdale while he was with us. Still keeping Addai, so does that mean we're only looking at getting in one goalkeeper and Addai will still be understudy?

I would think it’s more likely that we’ll get two centre halves than two keepers.

Seems risky to me if Addai is the back up. Putting a lot of faith in whoever we do get in not to get injured, certainly doesn't sound like Addai is up to standard.
