Very happy with him, though once again he got done for pace in that second half. Twice he seemed favourite for the ball, but their big centre forward outpaced him in dangerous positions just outside our box.

I still think Davies is our best CB but we have three great options there and Hyam has been class this season and Willis not far behind him.

Yep. I too think Davies is the best of the three, but there's very little in it.

He looks quality again, beaten by one long ball over but apart from that he was good. Looks a decent partnership with Willis and maybe taking pressure off Burge

I love this guy

Mr reliable, not the strongest, tallest or quickest but always calm and concentrating and doesn't make mistakes

Well he did today, although very minor ones.

He does remain calm though for sure and that is always a bonus to have in your side.

If we played 3-5-2 successfully we've got three defenders more than capable of playing in the higher end of this league. Unfortunately one of them have to sit out and centre back is one area you ideally want a consistent partnership so Davies just needs to bide his time until his chance arises like he did last season.

Dovetails nicely with Willis. If that's the phrase I'm after? He doesn't have the pace but reads the game well and generally uses the ball well out from the back.
Bobby Moore wasnt pacey, hardly ever tackled just took the ball off people.

Yep. Think Hyam can learn to read the game a bit better to enable him to compensate for his lack of pace.

He was again beaten far too easily by their big centre forward on one occasion yesterday.

He's still young and hopefully can only get better.

I was having a similar discussion about Paulo Maldini just the other day. There was a stat I was told highlighting how his tackles per game ratio was incredibly low.
