I heard this morning none of them can swim either.

Can the divers not just put gear on them and tow them back out?

I heard on the news today that in places, the exit route is too narrow for a diver wearing the oxygen tanks on his back. Tanks have to be removed and pulled through the gap. For kids that have to be taught to dive, it will be terrifying. And more rain is expected soon.

Ah so the divers have to manouvre to get in.

Were they just wondering around there and it rained and they got trapped?

I get all the arguments about this and that
But they can't leave them there for months like is being suggested.
Rather than Scuba gear with the mouthpeice they need a full face oxygen fed mask ,then on a submersable stretcher type gizmo that can be towed through by the rescuers

We should get some shirts out to them - be great PR to see them all coming out in City kits.

Yeah you would have thought they could do something like that.

Can the divers not run some sort of line?

If not, can they not drill down from above and throw a rope down?

They can't drill down, Nick. They are in a relatively small space nearly 1 km under the surface. Some of the rescue organisations think that the safest option is to wait until the rainy season ends (usually October) and bring them out. There are a couple of Thai Navy medics with them and food/water supplies can be got through to them.

Gonna be the story that will grip the world for the next 4 months.

Respect to the rescue team, its a massive effort.

Stop farting about now
Full face mask.
Underwater stretchers /sledge, tranquelisers/sedate .
Then bring them out.

Why on earth were they going somewhere like that when none of them can swim for a trip?

there's talk of the coach getting prosecuted. Does seem a bit of an ill conceived idea to say the least!
Well he was either reckless or stupid. I can't imagine the parents wanting anything to do with him in future.

Can't they just build a dam and pump out the water?

Hopefully the coach who thought it was a good idea will be charged for manslaughter. It will be sods law that dopey twat gets out alive.

I don't understand the point prosecuting the guy .
What on earth good will it do anyone ,I'm sure whatever lesson there is to be learned, he's taken it Maybe he'd have been better off dying in there himself .
Prosecuting this guy serves no valid purpose ,I'm sure all he's done is act in good faith .
Bit like the Mother in America last week who forgot her child was in the back seat of her car and walked into work .
Eight hours later coming out to discover her daughter dead from over hearing .
What good will prosecuting her do when she wants to be dead anyway ?

How can you forget your child is in the back of your car before you go to work? Still think there needs to be prosecution for things like that though. I know it's rough but it's still her fault.

If the bloke has gone past warning signs into somewhere dangerous and people are dying because of the consequences of it then there does need to be some sort of comeback from it.

If I took my daughter and he friends into a dangerous building site in town for example that had warning signs up and got trapped and people were dying from trying to save us I'd feel bad but then I'd also deserve charges.

I know what you mean but couldn’t you run the same argument for Hillsborough, Grenfell, Belfast etc. Seems like we need to point it at one person at all levels?

Diver who ran out of oxygen apparently
Not diving though. He was in one of the tunnels and suffocated. Clearly a lack of oxygen in the caves given both ends are blocked with water. Must be a concern for the boys in there part of the tunnel now?

How much water is there?

As said above, can they not block one end off and get a good few massive pumps to pump the water out?

Surely if as said they make some sort of massive temporary dam to block bits off then pump some of the water out.
I wonder if it's soaking down through the rocks and not just coming in one place.

Everyone cross your fingers, prey to your god etc. The rescue is underway. Hoping for the best possible outcome of what is a truly horrendous situation.
