Big news tomorrow morning? Tuesday 20th September (2 Viewers)

GMK used to be a great forum, but entered a downhill spiral to result in a handful of anti-council, anti-CET zealots who'd round on anyone with a contrary view. This forum's default position is now exactly the same.

I'm sure the CET's piece is in response to yet another board member leaving the club in a worse position than he found it. Yet the usual suspects decide its motivated more by a book launch or a desperate bid to increase circulation.

Yes, the CET - like any paper - is looking for readers. Yes, there's a book coming out. But his stance is - I'm sure - in response to the merry-go-round in our board continuing at a point when we're bottom on the league with zero tangible assets. Enough, really, is enough.

(I do understand I haven't posted on here a few weeks, and that makes my view inferior to that of some...)

It's strange, you aren't commenting on people rounding on me with a different view?

I don't mind, different opinions are to be expected.

Good news would be mr b wants to buy the club and he has fantastic plans for the future. Who could argue? I certainly couldn't and would be fully behind him.

This is just repeating what the trust said yesterday.

Sadly, all this probably means is to expect bad news which is more worrying.

Simon didn't say good news, it said I'm expecting the front page of tomorrows telegraph to cause quite a stir.

For god sake Nick get off you soap box for once.

Exactly, but the opinion piece isn't really needed as it is exactly what 99% of people think. Was it to target the 1% who don't agree?

My point was, who is going to buy the club? You'd clearly have to be mental to go anywhere near it. The only solution I would see is if Wasps bought out SISU. Which is exactly what I think the tactic is. Like SISU tried to distress ACL. Wasps (and the CCC) are doing exactly the same thing. Not saying thats a bad thing but how far do you take it?

Sort of my point, instead of kicking the club down (yes, the club is suffering) then why not dig for buyers?

It could well be the tactic that ccfc is being distressed. Have said that for a while...

The harranging of Nick on here is just bizarre.

I don't know the guy from Adam, but why isn't he entitled to his opinion like everyone else?

I've always been told to question why is X saying that, what's their aim (in everything in life, not just this farce)? And as far as I can see Nick does that too.

The CT statement is saying the same at the earlier Trust statement. And fwiw I agree with both statements, but it could have been said anytime over the last x years, so why say it at 5am on Tues morning?...

Yes I am happy with this article and it gets straight to the point and no one can disagree with it. It's nothing new I agree but it needed to be said and some pressure and this is now real pressure needs to be applied.

If you ask me I agree with chipfat. Things are happening behind the scenes. Good or bad I don't know. Anderson jumps ship and club are bottom of the league. Academy is finished in a few months time and Ricoh expires in 18 months. The squeeze has well and truely been put on. Wasps won't talk to us. Ccc hate us. It's all a deliberate attempt to rid of sisu.

They are universally hated and it's right. Enough is enough now.

Overall great article and I watched the video on the article of perry explaining why the article and it's 5 mins long and well worth a watch. Things are finally happening.

Where is there a mention of today's meeting with the FL about the Academy
How does Anderson leaving leave the Club any worse than when he came. Most on here criticised the guy from day one while others never knew what he was supposed to do anyway
What happened the Sports Academy that was supposed to be built at the Ricoh - part of the original sale? Why dont they build that first?
There keeps being references to ongoing legals between SISU & CCC - when did we last see any reference to legals. If there was any actual activity on this front I am sure our intrepid CT reporters would be sharing them with us

I suppose it does make a difference when you pay substantial amounts to the publisher and you are the paper of preference for CCC

I didn't say he did, I'm on about the way people are taking this as good news.

The 1% who disagree on here seem to be trying to distract from the point made. We are now on to Wasps ( see above post - not yours )and soon it will be CCC and Higgs.

Look a fool? I'm not the one getting my hopes up sisu are going or we have a new buyer every time there's an anti climax.

Surely as we all support the same club instead of dancing about like this is some sort of earth shattering revelation we should have learnt it's usually followed by bad news.

I hope I'm wrong this time and it's followed by a fantastic new owner!
I don't see anyone dancing about, I see fans standing up to what's right, that our club is in turmoil and every tom dick and Harry can see that. Your argument for the telegraph getting involved is a book launch, not the fact they're speaking up for the supporters they write for?

Well WASPS dont mind publicity do they - but it has to be good publicity.
Any one seen the revaluation of the Ricoh yet?

I didn't say he did, I'm on about the way people are taking this as good news.

It's a shift in the Telegraphs stance, so from that point of view they are now aligned with 99% of the fans, surely that has to be good news unless of course you are one of the 1%.

Are you one of the 1% Nick, do you think this club is going places under SISU? Do you want SISU to remain at the club for a further decade?

I haven't said it's entirely for a book launch have I?

Why are they doing it now? Because a bloke everybody said was useless has left? We are bottom of the league (we won't be come the end of the season).

I have said over and over I'd love for new owners to come in and take over and do a much better job. With SISU we are going to just run as self sufficient (well, they will try), which I have also said over and over again.

It isn't a shift in the stance is it?

Can you point out where I have ever said I want SISU here for a further decade? In fact about an hour ago I posted in this thread that good news would be a great new owner coming in....

Well said Martcov. When we've suffered 9 years of mismanagement of the club by Wasps, the Higgs, Coventry City Council et al we'll have a go at them too.
This morning though we have the rare sight of the CT actually nailing some hard hitting truths for the 1%.
Book or no book, that at least should be applauded.

The piece was about SISU's abject failure. It is abject failure. We are up shit creek without a paddle and SISU are ultimately responsible.

CA was a numbers man an brought in - amongst other things - to sort out the stadium problem. The situation is worse now than before he came and we will probably lose our grade 2 academy. Regardless of other parties, SISU had it in their hands to change direction ( e.g. Drop the legals or reach a settlement ), but they didn't.

So they continued with the promised litigation for Joy not getting what she wanted.

That is it. The piece is correct. The timing is correct ( bottom of the league and CA jumping ship ). Your points about meetings etc. may be relevant, but in another discussion.

But you seem to have taken issue with the ct because they have run a front page story telling our owners to sod off, isnt that what we all want?

I want new owners to come in who will care about the club, I want new owners who will communicate with fans like people. It is a world away from shouting PISS OFF to them.

People need to sit down and think about WHY should people buy CCFC? Yes, we all support and love them but why would Bill Gates etc etc. (random rich mans name).

It is almost as if I am the only one who sees things like this and start to see a bigger picture.

But haven't wasps paid for this advertising and couldn't ccfc?

Boo Hoo, You are the one that rounds on posters with a different view to yours.

My point was I am not the one giving it the "oh people disagree with me so i dont like it" line was I? As multiple people were "rounding" on me.

I was saying I don't mind it, they have a different opinion mostly. Some just have agendas but in the tiny minority.

CWR wouldn't do this for fear of not getting access to the team / manager etc for interviews.

You cant see the club / SISU being too happy with work with CT after this.

Good. The CT has been abysmal at defending CCFC against SISU, Wasps and the Council. When Wasps rode in to town there wasn't a peep from the Telegraph, you would have thought most local papers would have gotten their teeth there and then into a campaign to try and stop it, to support their local club.

If somebody was paying you lots of money for advertising, do you think you would be able to fully question them and things they have done or are doing? Surely as a newspaper depending on advertising etc they would be begging to keep Wasps happy?

That's my point.

I dont think anyone memtioned news did they? Important for local press to keep pressure on owners

Not just the owners, IMHO. We are talking about the local football team here.

The timing here is relevant. We are bottom of the league and the MD has jumped.

This article just ties in with everything else going on. Wasps refusing to talk to us about the Ricoh and us losing the academy.

My point is in the next year or so things are going to have to give. If wasps and other teams won't lend us their ground what the hell do sisu do? They are snookered. It's over.

CET are entitled to voice their opinion - don't really think anyone is questioning that.

It's more disappointing though that they didn't feel the need to voice their opinion on the Wasps purchase of Ricoh or the impending displacement of our academy.

Both of these decisions will have detrimental consequences long after SISU have disappeared.

Absolutely. I think it's good the CT has finally come out and said SISU OUT! It is what everyone wants. However, they should and could have done so much more over the last few years to pressure all involved.

I don't mind, different opinions are to be expected.

Different view are to be expected, yes. Which is why it's disappointing when you use the old 'you haven't posted in here for weeks' line; as that insinuates that this view is not as worthy as the usual suspects who always voice the same, narrow narrative

Hard to argue with anything in that piece but the question remains who would be interested in buying? If the CT know of someone then they should come out and say so.
Don't think it will have the slightest impact on SISU, they will keep doing what they want to do.
Usual CT story I bet, hyped up, underwhelming click bait...
How did you know?
I guess the one positive thing is that at least the CT have finally got of the fence and are now saying SISU out.
Interesting that when people were asking the CT to get involved in a Save The Academy campaign the response was that was not for the paper to do it was down to fans, what makes this different?

Do you mean rondog? The bloke who just comes on to have digs at me? Or tim07 who I said has an agenda?

Plenty of people come on here and disagree with me. It is to be expected.

Surely the telegraph would campaign for Wasps to stop messing about and let us play there for the sake of the football team (not the owners)?

I have a feeling Sisu, fisher etc are not engaging with the CT anymore, so they've said what the hell, lets smoke the rats out instead.

It could also mean a complete ban on CT at Ryton going forward. At the same time if there is no media coverage of team affairs that will be bad.

Catch 22 for everyone involved.

Hopefully they've got wind from there pals at Wasps that the game is nearly up for SISU and want to be able to revel in the glory of being on the side of the Rebel Alliance rather than the Darkside!
