Many other people played the demo?

Thoughts so far:

  • Really like the animations when players score, linesman flag, referees give fouls etc.
  • The ground animation before the game is really good.
  • Tackling is a nightmare, even if you slide tackle and completely take the ball you end up getting booked or sent off.
  • I haven't noticed much about players movements yet, they seem a bit upright and static
  • If you have a shot from just outside the box with the right amount of power it goes top corner every time.
  • The menu interface is still really bad

I'm currently in between houses so haven't played it but really enjoyed last year's game. Is the fifa demo out? The fact it's using the frostbite engine might win me back over.

It is quite harsh on mistimed tackles, but you get to a point where defending clicks and suddenly you're Paolo Maldini. Shooting's a bit overpowered, but they did that last year for the demo and toned it down for release so hopefully that'll be the case here.

With you on menus, team setup in particular. The PS2 PES games had the perfect layout for selecting and forming your team, every football game since has been clunky or counter-intuitive.

I can't.figure out first touch, on fifa you can say when you get the ball to go a way, turn etc.

Same as running at players, can't find a way to take them on.

lol what sort of gamer cares about menus? ffs whats next?> soundtrack?

goals do not go top corner everytime, not that ive seen

defending is brilliant on this one but i agree ref sumtimes harsh. goalkeepers quality.

its not ice hocket like fifa which is why you may be finding it hard to dribble nick. like in real footy you cant take everyone on and score every time. try playing a more a realistic brand of footy.

Interface and sound are important. They're not dealbreakers, but they count.

count? towards what? a purchase?

broken menus i would understand. but a cheap looking design? who gives a shit

same with music. if the song that plays whilst you choose your team makes a big difference...then wow

Count towards the impression of a game as an overall package. Everything matters. Not to the same degree, but it does.

not really imo

anyone who lets it come into their decision making process for buying a sports game is an idiot imo

but then they are the same people who buy cod every year because some actor stars in an advert for it!

It wouldn't influence my decision, it's more little things I'd like to be improved. The squad screen mainly, I barely notice sound in football games outside the actual matches. Every game will have loads of similar touches and minor things

glad you now agree with me

pes does have a soundtrack but it wont be in demo

menu wise i dont care how it looks but they need to get rid of establishing connections delay between screens that was in pes 16!

fifa always looks top notch, its just on the pitch where it never progresses from 6/10

will download the demo tonight though

Sorry to hijack the thread, but would be interested to know, if you all had a choice of two, either the hands on, controlling of the players, actually playing the game type game, or the Football Manager/Championship Manager sim type game, which would you choose?

If I could only have one of the two I'd be playing football rather than setting up instructions for it.

I cannot get on at all with the hand held FIFA type games.

I really hate anything which is repetitive key pressing (yeah I know, why post on here then etc. ;) ) . I am talking rapid, repetitive key pressing (yes, I know, still 'Why do you post on here then.')

I find it very tension inducing.

Much prefer the management games where you build a squad, buy players, develop the ground, set tactics, pick your team and then sit back and send them out there to do the business.

more i play pes demo more it reminds me of old school pes like pes2-6 days. top player and especially superstar mode its harder to create chances and when you do its nerve wracking that you dont mess it up.

Not really impressed by it so far. First game on the hardest setting I beat Barcelona 4-0 as Arsenal. Plays like Ice Hokey with the ball skidding around, physical side of the game is a let down, don't seem to be able to get into any battles. Defending is way too easy, it's obvious where the attackers are going and you can close down the space easy. If the game is like this and the multiplayer hasn't improved then I think I'll stick with FIFA. But yeah it's all about the badges ;)

absolute BS and goes against every hands on review. i mean you have described fifa for the most part!

also you have access to uploading video. please video proof of a superstar match and a 4-0 win

if you dont we can all assume you are a desperate fifa lover who will go to any lengths to put pes down

how sad. its just a game pal

I mean lets be fair here it is a fuckin game and don't think someone is sad because they don't like what you like

I think he's sad cos he's a liar.

No chsnce he won 4 nil in superstar mode on first go. Heck even now he can't do it

Ps4 and x1 have recording facility so he can prove it and do it again

Fukin brexit voters...
