Butts park arena? (1 Viewer)

So if that was the case why would they leave it to CRFC to initially bring this into public domain?

Well they bought them knowing there was planning for a 15000 stadium at some point plus other development

That doesn't carry any clout. Try googling Mildenhall stadiums court case. Someone bought a house a couple of miles away and promptly started suing the owners over noise and won despite the site of Mildenhall stadium being a motorsport venue for the best part of a hundred years and the house owners being there five minutes. A precedent has been set on this and practically sent the owners of Mildenhall stadium bankrupt. By coincidence the family that owns Mildenhall stadium have the surname of Coventry. True story.

The idea of dropping legal action is reasonable. But it needs to be on the proviso of 'drop the legal action, and we will help you make this happen if you are going to do this' rather than 'drop the legal action and we might have a little think about it'

Let's be honest - CCC haven't exactly demonstrated truthfulness and honesty over the last 18 months have they?

No but nor have our owners as I say both as bad as eachother Ian. Both looking after themselves and this is where we are left.

Personally I think this is all a bargaining chip to staying at the Ricoh. as I said above in the next year or two something has to happen as our rent deal concludes at the Ricoh. We can't move again surely?

Weird isn't it? Many posters have said the same thing over and over again. It wasn't SISU or the Club who said anything, it was CRFC. We would never have known if they hadn't released details.

Exactly, there's no reason talks can't take place. Then if and when it gets to a stage that things are ready to really start moving forward thats the point for dropping legal action.

Just saying we're not even talking to you unless you drop all action is foolish and shows continued refusal to help the club on the part of CCC.

Exactly. Get to the negotiation table, but make it clear that the legal action goes when a deal is done.

True. But then who is paying for this 15-20k expansion and what is our role? Tenants again?

I would think some kind of joint ownership with a new management company, so both clubs get revenue and the deck isn't loaded for one player like it is at the Ricoh.

Why not? Thought sisu were trying to be more transparent. Unless they are and this really isn't worth the time to mention.

Cov rugby have came out with the story? Why? Don't really know. Maybe to suit their own agenda?

The chap from CRFC has already confirmed that.

Funding for the project would be provided by forming a joint property company with the football club and ongoing revenue would be secured by the two organisations forming an events company to handle the day to day running of the stadium.

Yes i have now read his quote but he is still looking at financial contributions from ccfc (sisu) well that won't happen as they haven't got any money or won't give us any to invest it's all self sufficent now remember.

It's all dream work stuff anyway. Sharp has said its all fa from certain and it's just talked about.

Just to be clear I think it's a good idea but in theory just too much against it happening in the end

Yes but doesn't sound that way torch. Sounds like sub letting to me. Remember sisu aren't going to pay a penny towards moving so it seems to me tenants again. Even that Sharp bloke said as much.

SISU aren't going to pay anything? Really?

wasn't there a deadline from the Football League (when we were first got permission to go to Northampton) in which to establish a "permanent" base? 8 years seems to stick in the memory.

Something like this, if done properly could drive up attendances at both clubs. The idea of a deal to go to the Butts to watch the other team when 'your' team is away. And it works because it's 2 hometown clubs - not one and a franchise.

Still eagerly awaiting that statement from the Trust.

Sure there was something like that but they don't seem too hot on sticking to their own rules. Reckon if there was solid evidence something was happening they'd happily add a few years on.

It sounds a wonderful solution to many of our problems, but we are up against the Council and the Nimby's from Earlsdon, does anyone really believe this is a goer?

It's never going to happen for reasons everybody knows already. Location, parking, residents and cost.
Add in we aspire to be a PL club then it's fails on so many counts.
We all agree that we should own the Ricoh but leaving it should not be at any cost.

We need to buy into the Ricoh until we have a better plan.
We need to give Wasps an incentive that when we get to the Championship/PL they will benefit.
We need to get as much access to incomes as possible, but we need these stupid legals out the way first.

So that's italia brilliant plan, stop all legal action and give wasps more money. We'll be in the Champions League before you know it

..... or your plan which is to support them in aimlessly 'battering' everybody and just talk about a stadium but never ever get there.
You follow the dream but eventually they will deal with Wasps and all these years will have been wasted.
Good luck with that

If we got to the PL, Wasps would turf us out. 2 main reasons - firstly they would have no access to the TV revenue we'd get, secondly no one would give 2 fucks about Wasps if we played PL football at Ricoh.

It's suits them for us to be shit and in League 1. The last thing they want is us being successful.

Of course unless anyone thinks the Ricoh is being knocked down we could always play a game there should we get a big cup time and there be the demand.
Yes it would, we would be full and those that can't get a ticket, tough luck.

How about get a big enough stadium
Get the most fans we can get maximise profits and atmosphere for the team and you don't need the 'tough' bit

Had a bit of a play around in photoshop putting some other stadiums into the space available. If the small park could be purchased and a few design tricks you could get a 30K plus stadium in.

Don't think that's on the cards at all but if things start to move forward on this it might be worth looking into.

I do wonder if the 25k is self imposed.
Top brass in SISU in the past have talked about 12k stadium going up to 15k then 18k

I genuinely don't think they appreciate the potential that is there for the CCFC fan base if someone gets it right on the pitch.

I could handle coming away from the Ricoh for a stadium that has a 20k with 30k potential expansion.

But not coming out for 15k with a 25k potential

It will be loaded to ensure that the investors in the propco get a good return on their investment.

Not my plan at all, my preferred option is to do whatever is best for the club longterm. You dismiss anything that doesn't involve handing money over to Wasps.

Short to medium term we could be better off at the Ricoh. 100000 rent is peauts and we avoid the investment and running costs of a stadium. Long Term we need a stadium which we control and which is part of an investment which allows us to obtain more revenue than Investment and running costs. The Butts site is compact and to have facilities which bring in large revenues you will have to build upwards, downwards or across roads and a park. Without the power of the council nothing is going to happen. Going ahead with JR2 is just stupid - if SISU is serious about the Butts.

Nothing wrong with stopping legal action - even against a written joint agreement with the council pledging good faith and cooperation from both sides in all future dealings. A long Term Solution to the stadium problem is more important than " obtaining a narrative" as you put it.

It might have been mentioned before but couldnt this be another Sisu style plan to put undue pressure on Wasps to get a share or better deal at the Ricoh. Its obvious that it needs to be a two team stadium and Wasps arent exactly filling the place and have that dividend to pay back? To me its great news either way, get a better deal at the Ricoh and more revenue for TM or move away and actually have a home plus in a cracking location not on the outskirts of town.;)

Exactly. Get to the negotiation table, but make it clear that the legal action goes when a deal is done.
It could take years to get to a deal and during that time you cannot sit opposite your court opponent and have a neutral conversation. The legal action must go first. Ok, get some form of "treaty" before dropping the JR and all future stadium connected litigation.
