Sheesh, we haven't sold the messiah. We've sold a kid - talented, but fragile - who has made a dozen first team appearances. He's hardly Maradona or Messi . He's not even a mainstay of the team. Maybe - just maybe - the money we get gives us a chance to stay in the Championship if we happen to get there. Worst case, we get the chance to push on next season. I'm as disappointed to lose him as the next guy, but it was always going to happen.

<snip> or we need the money more urgently than us fans thought. Possibly a combo of all three.

We just signed seven players (Bigi, Lorentzen, Rose, Ramage, Hunt, Cargill, Stephens) to plug the holes in our defence and the wages have to come from somewhere.

I thought it was all about putting bums on seats, selling your best players does not do that.

Anderson is another bullshitter it seems. Said he'd sort the ticketing farce a month ago, not even any plans released. Keeps going on about 'growing' too...what would really make the club grow in the future is keeping, or replacing with good permanent players, our best players and building a quality team.

I thought he was okay but was going to get better, just think I would be a little less annoyed if it was Spurs or Liverpool. Not sure why but I think Norwich could go down maybe so shows a lack of ambition. The figures being bounded about around 2m is low but maybe it was all paper talk about the £7m price tag

Ivor Lawton wouldn't have left us like this. Truth is, James it just a prick. He's not a fan at all. If I'm brutally honest, I hope he fades out of the game faster than frimpong.
On the bright side, we have fortune and Ramage.
Maddison is a Man Utd fan I think? Saw a video of him on YouTube saying his idol is Cristiano Ronaldo as he supported them when he was growing up.

Bit of a silly thing to say when he is coming back on loan...
Why? I'm just judging by how fans think and some will give him some stick.

You only have to look at a few posts on this thread to see that some are not happy with his decision.

Back in the premiership it even championship days if we would have paid 2 million for a kid who hadn't played much more than 20 games the fans would be fuming

And as far as the lad is concerned, he could be shit in 2 years so he should earn the money while he can. Football is a fickle sport, you ain't flavour of the month for long

I think this may prove to be the worst piece of transfer business the club has ever done...how often in our history have we produced a player that has an extremely good chance of playing for a top 4 side and a realistic chance of playing for England one day? I've watched his development from a young age as he went to school with and is friends with my eldest daughter and I genuinely believe he is that good. If the fee widely reported is true then it stinks and will be an embarrassing stain on the club as his career goes from strength to strength over the coming years.

It's disappointing to lose a player with the talent and potential ability he has, but it's certainly not the end of the world.

He's not even had a full season in L1, and since returning from injury he's hardly set the world alight. It's a suprising move for Norwich, a team involved in a relegation battle - is he a signing with next seasons championship in mind? Or if they survive will he be sent on loan next season to gain experience? In either case, it's a strange choice on JM's part too.

In terms of replacements, let's take the worse case scenario; we don't sign anybody new over the summer. From the existing squad, both JC and RL are more than capable of playing 10, and both only require a contract extension.

I don't think we can equate this to the Wilson situation, he was more of a proven talent when he left than JM, and he only needed to step up one league.

I'm not intending to dismiss JM and his potential, because it's clear to see he has bags of it, but he's replaceable and, for all extents and purposes, still unproven as a footballer at professional level.

Of course I would prefer he wasn't leaving, but he's an 18 year old that's played a third of season in L1. Not a proven cult hero. It's an emotive, dissapointing piece of news, but let's keep done perspective.

I wish him well and I hope he realises his potential, rather than becoming another waste of young British talent on a premiership bench.

I also look forward to him returning to us as we bypass Norwich on our way to the premier league.

This all comes down to the figure really doesn't it?

If it was indeed 2million then it's a joke of a transfer and why sell? Not even played a full season for us yet.

If it was £7million then we have had a good deal and loaned back is the cherry on the cake.

Which is it?

It shows without doubt that this club has no ambition. To let our only young bright star leave cheaply it seems shows our owners don't give a flying fuck about the team or getting us back into the Championship with a promising team.

after 52 years I'm sick of this happening, anyone with an once of talent they sell cheaply. I bet my bottom dollar this has made TM' s mind up and he'll leave in the summer. How can he build a decent team with potential when they give our brightest hope away, if I was him I'd be off

So.... How much of the £2m do you reckon we'll see in the summer?

What did the Wilson cash get us? A couple of loanees? Do we think the cash has already been spent on these two youth CBs?

Mowbray won't get much. Some of it will have covered the extra wage bill from now onwards.

Pays operating losses too.

The way I read it, the transfer's as much so we can have a similar squad to this season without having to cut it back, rather than us suddenly getting hundreds of superstars.

I can't believe also TM didn't bring in a keeper. Both the current ones are not up to the standard required atm, Burge is conference level at best and RCC is not ready. Obviously TM sees something in them the large majority of us don't .

Mowbray will be off. No way can he work properly with people like Sisu!

Explains why the spirit in the camp has suffered in the last few weeks.

Bless you Joy, looking after your beloved... *insert god here*.

Back to reality, a Division 3 club can't hold on to playing assets when Premiership clubs want them & can double/treble salaries.

Good luck James, hope you make as big as splash as Callum, the academy production line is the only thing keeping this club afloat.

Is it just me noticing people who know JM are tweeting him congratulating him about his dreams etc? He hardly seems like he was shoved out the door hands tied gun to his head.

I can see attendances really falling away now, where is the hope that we could at last build a decent team .you can't build a team on bloody loanee's, what sort of future is that.

Sky just said spurs had 7 million bid rejected.

You tell me :(

Don't believe the hype. No way he is worth £7 yet, its only likely the quoted Liverpool/spurs deals could amount to that after 50 England caps! The sum in the here & now at £2M sounds about right, with bonuses paid for appearances. I suspect the Norwich deal won out because of the loan back and a higher up front sum. Money is king.
