Great idea and a fitting tribute! I always like driving down Brian Clough Way heading into Derby. He was another iconic manager in my eyes!

Nothing wrong with Clough.....but something wrong with you HH if you "like" heading into Derby.......
Unfortunately I have to head into Derby - my eldest son lives there. When I say "like", I don't mean the actual place! ;)

I think they were looking at renaming it the A1987 at some point or at least that was a suggestion someone made. This is much better.

Not everyone is happy:

Kevin Maguire from the Mirror on Twitter:
Jimmy Hill led a sanction-busting rebel tour to apartheid South Africa when Mandela was in jail. Coventry shouldn't name a road after him

and this when he died:

RIP Jimmy Hill though I remember his rebel tour to apartheid South Africa & the 1977 Coventry fix that relegated Sunderland

He was born in South Shields, probably a Sunderland fan

surely not the highly principled staunch socialist Kevin Maguire......who lives in Mayfair, travels by chauffeur driven Mercedes & makes jokes about dead toddlers....

Most clubs would be all over this, a celebration of their greatest manager. Not even so far a whiff of acknowledgement from the current owners of CCFC.

It isn't as if people haven't been getting worked up about no response and Simon hasn't been winding up the fans as much as he can about it is it? Pretty much since the news about it came out...

So you seem happy with the loud silence from the club Nick?
What Gilbert and/or the CT say is not the issue. If this was any other club there would be large scale coverage, even you must see that.

Perfectly sums up the mindset of the clubs owners.

No, I can see everybody whipped up into anger so article after article can be fired out.

The news only came out yesterday, yet the anger about them not replying was being whipped up pretty much straight away. Co-incidence really, when they are carrying out a media attack isn't it?

Yes, the club should comment and also maybe the former players association.

Out of interest, how much have the telegraph pushed the jimmy hill legacy fund? An article to say it was being setup, how many links to the link in my signature and the one I have been pushing to fans?

And SISU try in return with Les Reid in the Observer, laughable attempt.
I waited 24 hours before passing judgement, the club should have made a statement within minutes.

The point escapes you, as does the history of the club.

Coincidence Nick doesn't have a - in it.

And the club have come out with nothing at all about anything lately, no news yesterday how the meeting went, no praise that a club legend gets a road named after him, no stadium plans that were 3 weeks away 3 years ago.

Hardly whipped up straight away is it, they don't communicate with the fans at all.

You call it anger, I call it disappointing.

Can you really not see the telegraph whipping up fans anger? When was the last time the club mentioned legal action for example, yet it is in every other article on the telegraph site..

It is article after article being fired out one after the other isn't it?

And when the club do (if they do) release a statement, it will be no doubt written by Laura, who no doubt will have to google who Jimmy Hill was... summing the clubs hierarchy up to a tee.
