Robins is going nowhere. DK is, he’s sold up to Ashley. Honest guv.

well you say that and I just listened to Alan pardew on talksport today. Did anyone else hear it? Very very fascinating in regards to Mike Ashley.

Lads, this is our moment!

It's finally time for Kenny Jackett to step up

(not really Robins isn't going anywhere, it's just a serial bedwetter wetting the bed again)
This must mean what I’ve been worrying about. Boddy out, Grendull in. All the times he’s sacked Robins on here plus he took Woking from the conference to champions league in six seasons on championship manager. That sort of thing doesn’t go unnoticed by DK.

Who are the people that know more than him though. 🤔 The ones who are now leaving ( perhaps) the club have been massively underfunded on the business side for years, and people have probably been doing their job plus an assistants job as well, if not trying to cover work which really ahpuld be covered by a whole dept. However, when Boddy joined, most were nervy considering his previous work, most pointed the finger of blame in his direction last year for not having an eye on the pitch fiasco etc. Marketing people, are 10 a penny, Marketing is marketing and not something specialised in football. Of course they maybe proved right ( we are after all discussing heresay) but how does behind the scenes unrest tally up with, improvements at Ryton, implementing a scouting team. Increasing the numbers of the grounds team...
Very good question and one I think that many on here could answer
Boddy may be shit to many of us but he has 5 years more experience or running a football club than Doug king
Tynan may be shit to many of us but he has 5 more years and more of running the marketing side of a football club than Doug king
Grendel may talk bollox as much as me but he has attended more games in the last few years than Doug king has in his life
As I’ve acknowledged a number of times we could have done far far more to maximise our business opportunities the last 3 years and I’m sure part of that was not having enough staff and those not having experience at this level of professional football
But!!!!!
you respect people and listen and don’t dismiss unless you are certain you are correct
One of the big changes that seemed to have made things better under sisu was for them to take a back seat and allow football people to do the football
Well dk is not a football person so let’s see shall we
With my own eyes I was disappointed how he treated his staff at the supporters forum in front of supporters. That’s just bad form
I’m sure we will be able to put the figures together at some point and go ah that’s what he wanted to be involved for but at this point he got hugely lucky and ha
Whoever has wet the bed and decided Robins is leaving
No one has said that

How many years experience did he have of running a club when he found out we didn't have a pitch that was fit for purpose on the eve of our opening fixture?

Like I say he’s messed up - who hasn’t in their jobs and Dave boddy can be replaced and I’m pretty certain will be but he knows far more than dk
Dk may well be right on most things but there’s a way to do business well and another to not that’s all
He fucked up with the public yok stuff and having to change season ticket prices
He’s also fucked up with the family zone
But yep let’s focus on db and the pitch
Are you really not blind to the risk of having an owner take a more hands on role when before the Swansea game he’d never seen us play or watched a game in a decade?
Like I say I was mildly annoyed at the supporters forum but he still has a huge opportunity to use the momentum to push us on

I'm not blind to anything.
I've been critical of King on certain things and supportive of him on others, so I judge each action on its own merit.

And we don't know for sure that if Boddy goes he won't replace him, I would think it would be a mistake not to. But maybe he's getting involved because people simply aren't doing the jobs they're paid to do to the expected standard?

You’ll think I’m a penis. There are ways of treating people especially those employed by you in front of others.
I think he thinks he could do better than everyone and so doesn’t listen to a counter argument
Turned up late
Mistook Swansea for a different team - easily done but having got pissed off with his staff for not knowing a specific thing he should remember a team name when making a point
Again as I say you can be arrogant if you are right, if not you may need to depend on a few others to help out on occasion
Pet hate of mine is also when people talk as if they know about something when they absolutely don’t

Literally couldn’t give a fuck about anything but Robins staying and having a squad at least as competitive as last season. Could be run by Hitler’s less tolerant nephew and charging corporate £1m a game for all I care.

Fuck with Robins and we riot.
Agreed which was why I’ve been surprised by what a couple of involved people have said to me, as I say jury’s out dk gets it done then great but why make it so hard for yourself

I don’t care who you are or what business you’re from, if you don’t look at CCFC and realise the value of Robins you shouldn’t be in charge of a school tuck shop.

He’s been handed three cards of a royal flush and seems to be trading them in for a safe set of threes. He’s needs to show something quickly, good vibes only go so far.

I can only speak from own experience but I’ve been in presence of Doug, Boddy etc in the boardroom and he was very courteous to all staff, going as far as giving a speech to thank the staff who fetch the food and drinks for everyone, as well as individually picking out other members of staff, knowing and acknowledging their contributions. He seemed very hands on but very kind to those he interacted with.

Of course he could be different behind closed doors.

He probably thinks he can do what he wants as he’s a successful business man/hedge funder (in his eyes). But doesn’t excuse belittling anyone, especially your own staff.

You get a lot of people like this who are just arrogant once they get to the top. I guess that’s what gets them there.

His arrogance and lack of financial procedures led him to buy the Club assuming he would get the Stadium. So he bought a Championship club with no ground - real commercial expertise showing there.

Perhaps at his next Forum meeting we can ask if a 5 year license, minimal f+b without a new pitch and signed at the last minute was his only option or what was so bad about any other on offer

But in 13 card Brag three 3’s is the best hand you can play.

The good vibes were about Sisu leaving… and rightly so.

But King hasn’t been here long enough to warrant his own song for example.

Honeymoon period is over. This is his proper test as chairman with a pre-season going into the full season. Let’s see what he is really made of.

It must be really boring supporting a club that has a stable hierarchy, a few quid to spend, back for a timely pre season, a pitch, and a few players through the door. Never far from controversy, never change CCFC… or SBT

King has walked into a professional championship club and seen it being ran like the Dog and duck. His job and his duty is to put things right off the pitch so we can compete on it. So he is going to create an issue for those used to the past ways and those not used to having an owner turn up of a game day and push for a better standard . I think most knew change had to happen and i think we are seeing or hearing the effects of him stomping the corridors demanding change. He cant wait for a good time that suits everyone to turn things around, by the sound of him he wanted to act quick.

Only time will tell if his way is effective or successful. Im willing to give the man the benefit of doubt. He will get to know a lot more over the next few weeks and months, which should allow him to slow down and focus on certain things regarding the club. Im glad we see him at games and glad he talks openly about his plan. I hope he is listening to MR and is focused on giving him total supports so he can to make the team improve and succeed this season. In many ways i don't want him to be the talking point, i just want him to provide the best players available for the club. MR needs to be able to do his job of sustaining the constant improvement we have seen over multiple seasons.

Don’t know if a variation of this has been posted, but there are often 2 parts to a player cost:

1) Signing fee / Transfer fee
2) Weekly (monthly) Wages / bonus

——

1) The transfer fee for a player on a three year contract (say £1m Gus) over 3 years works out, what, 7k per week? By paying £10k week wages, the total cost over the three years is £17k per week, right?

Some free agents demand a signing on fee which is in effect a kind of transfer fee - goes on the books and is depreciated over the contract.

So, why not give Gus / Vik 1.5m each to extend their contracts?

Then pay then £10k per week to keep in line with the wage structure?

They will be earning in effect £20k per each week they are here.

The £3m treat as a kind of transfer fee.

Those two, on 3 year contracts will be worth a heck of a lot more than the £3m ( personally I’d chuck much more to make them stay. Could we replace both for £10m? No chance).

Have I missed the point here?

some might be pushed. Others leaving on their own accord is what I’m being told.
But isn't that just what happens when a new owner comes in? Can only go off my experience at large organisations. Takeovers/mergers bring an early round of staff leaving as they don't like the new regime or people being let go as they aren't needed or haven't been pulling their weight.

Sad for individuals but it is Dougs right to have the things run as he sees fit.
