Peter Bodak. V Watford . League Cup Quarter final replay at Highfield Road. Cuts inside from the right wing to unleash a beast of a shot. We were on the march.

Don Hutchison against Plymouth stands out for me. Great awareness to turn like that. Skip to 1.25 here -

Does anyone remember a mid week game, sure it was against Luton, where Cyril picked the ball up on half way and beat about 5 men before firing it home.

Micky Gynn's at Stoke in 87.
I knew then the Cup was ours.
Those were the matches we always crumbled in, when we fell away.
A glorious moment when you knew we'd turned a corner.

Moussa's 30 yard volley in the 96th minute at Deepdale takes some beating. Went with son no. 2 who lives just outside Preston and he was able to give it large to his PNE supporting mates after years of misery up there for us. We were stood bang in line with the ball and saw it all the way in. Was only the equaliser but the timing made it feel like a victory.

BBC says 'outside the UK'
I'm sure most of you never saw it but it was the goal George Hudson scored against Southampton. Can't remember the date or season.
No other striker we've ever had comes close in goal-scoring skill.
I never saw it live but the Michael Mifsud goal against Sheffield Wednesday was a brilliant individual goal (last goal on this video, about 4:05):

3 of my favourites are

Huckerby vs Man Utd for the run, the block by Whelan and the comments by Ferguson after that we'd never looked like scoring despite winning 3-2.
Quinn's second against Arsenal at Highbury, I think Wegerle had it,moved away for Quinn who came in and curled it into top corner.
Whelan against Wimbledon at Selhurst Park in November 96, fantastic volley from an angle.

This thread was supposed to cheer us up but it's making it worse highlighting how shite we now are and how rubbish the players are.

Great Chippo ball out to Keane on the left wing, inch perfect cross into the box, bullet header from Roussel. When we beat the Villa 2-1.

Best opposition goal I've seen was probably Suker's when we beat Arsenal. The last 20th century goal at Highfield Road.

Was that the one at the Spion Kop end where Hudson had his back to goal, flicked the ball over his shoulder and over the defender, turned and hammered it into the net? Whoever it was against, it's one of my favourites.

Leaving out the cup final mine is Tommy Hutchison's amazing solo dribble at Arsenal 1972/73 time, a 2-0 win against reigning champions Arsenal. Was surrounded by Glasgow Rangers fans in the Clock end supporting City, that's another story.
That was mine too. We were stood in the paddock opposite the main stand that day and had a great view of it. It was actually Hutch's first goal for City IIRC.

The tragedy is that the goal was recorded but is never shown. At that time BBC2 showed a few highlights on the news of a game that was not on MOTD, and it was Highbury that day. People have tried to get the right to show it again but they want silly money for it, apparently.

Mine would obviously be "Houchen's Header"! Wembley 1987! But one goal I'll always love for the pure cheek and clever thinking was Dion Dublin's cheeky goal when momentum carried him behind the goal line, Shay Given put the ball at his feet ready to kick out, and Dion came from behind, nicked the balled away and tapped it in! A bit of questioning between the ref and lino before it was given as a goal. Happy days!
