For those around the world and not based in Coventry, here is a YouTube URL for the bus parade and celebrations marking our return to the Premier League.

From where we’ve come from, this is a greater achievement
I'm not referring to the achievement.
The whole city went sky blue mental. The place was awash with bunting and flags.
Went home today to watch the parade and I purposely drove in to the city from Walsgrave, Ball Hill through the city centre and out to Coundon where I stood and watched the proceedings to see if today's citizens emulated those in 87.
Nowhere near I have to say.

Nature of the win

The cup was won or lost in 90 minutes.

We’ve known we’re getting promoted over a month ago.

Not so. You refer to the achievement again.

The semi was played a full month before the Wembley final in 87 and flags and bunting started going up the week after the Sunday Hillsborough tie.

As a telephone service engineer I lost track of how many times I was stopped and asked to drape bunting from poles to people's properties and was happy to oblige in the run up to the final when time allowed.

As I say, the city was awash in sky blue leading up to the cup final and beyond for months after.

Why does it need to be a comparison? just enjoy the occasions. Id imagine half of our fans wont have seen 87

How many days did Ipswich have for their bus parade if that tweet was genuine, did it involve their local council, just asking?
Don't matter though in the scheme of things, probably just makes us sound old,
modern fun has to be policed safety checked through every prism, things just aren't organic anymore,, shame for the punters that don't realise they've been hijacked to some extent!
Anyway enough from me and pouring scorn on it all,
Well done to everyone involved, especially us!🩵🎶😎.

NOTHING compares to 87
Today was really good and there were loads of people lining the route celebrating.

It's a bit different from '87. That was a monumental moment and very few of us ever expected to win, and having the parade the very next day the city was still euphoric.

This season has ben incredible, and I'll probably never experience another like it, but promotion and the title were secured nearly two weeks ago, so it's not as visceral as '87.

But it was still a fantastic celebration and I'm sure the kids watching it will have just as fond memories as 7-y-o me seeing the FA Cup being held aloft at the front of the bus in '87.
