Do you think anybody has heard of Coventry in the past 10 years?

I think the responses to the OP are far more embarrasing than his assessment. Didnt they do very well in a cup competition last season? Seems your mate isn't into football very much.

Haha. What an idiot. If you had bothered to do a bit of research before you posted you would have know there was a good relationship between us and the Bradford fans who have been on here. But why let the truth get in the way of your rant.

In truth I'd heard Bradford are a long-ball team, and I'm sure pre-game Pressley talked about them being 'direct' and having to cope with it.

I'm a bit irked that we didn't, but then this is a young team and if it was simple to defend against this style of play then teams wouldn't bother lumping it.

As long as we stick to our style, and learn a few lessons then that's good enough for me. I hope we're still playing the same way when I do get to watch them at 'home', whenever and wherever that may be!

As for Bradford, you can win games by thumping it up and scrapping for it, but I can watch that kind of football for free on the parks pitches. I pay to watch professionals play in the hope that I can see them do something more interesting.

As a Cov fan, I don't ever remember being called arrogant - God knows we've suffered enough hammerings by teams supposedly 'lower' than us to have that beaten out of us by now.

he does make a fair point though, and why is he a Leicester 'div'. The op makes a valid point also. Some of our fans have an "everyone hates us" mentality. Peter beagrie hates us, Don Goodman hates us, sky hate us, fl show hates us, it is embarrassing tbh.

That type of football never ever sustains success. Look at how Stoke have now had to adapt. Look at the way Swansea established themselves playing a different way.

Fair point - I suspect you can get away with it in the lower divisions a bit more though.

I don't want to dismiss it, I think there's a place for bumping it up quickly, especially if you've got a good target man and a bit of pace alongside and the opposition play a high line (e.g. Hucks/Dublin perhaps). I'd just prefer it if it isn't the only option! I've no ill-will to Bradford though - it's for teams to figure out how to win against it imho. We almost did!

If your management had bothered to do any sort of research on Bradford City before our game it was obvious that we would play that way against your terrible centre backs. We don't always play that way (see the Preston game and Wolves game for proof) but we're capable of changing our style of play to suit the opponents.

If your "saviour" of a manager had bothered to do his homework he would have known this.

And the fact that Callum Wilson is quoted as saying you thought the game was over after just 7 minutes - well I'd be embarrassed to be a Coventry City fan.

The whole thing reeks of arrogance and it's clear you thought you just had to turn up and "do your thing" and you would stroll away with 3 points.

Before Sunday I, like many Bradford City fans, had a massive amount of respect for how Presley has started to turn around your club (by the way, to see how a manager ACTUALLY turns around a club, see 21st in League Two to promotion and a cup final in 1 season). However after Sunday, I personally would love to see you fail because the club from top to bottom has a massive chip on it's shoulder and this "the world is against us" attitude is a joke.

The real shame is the team is decent. Pity you have an arrogant pillock for a manager who believes after 9 months in the English game that he can swagger around with his fist pumps and "we're hard done to" attitude embarrassing all of you.

I mean the fact that everyone at Coventry are conveniently forgetting that two of your 3 goals were hopeful long balls lumped up to your strikers, and you should've ended with 9 men - but it's fine, you just keep blaming the opposition for changing their style of play to something that you couldn't defend against to cover up your own failings as a manager Presley.

I already know the type of replies this post will get - don't bother because I've heard it all before and I've seen enough since Sunday to know you all follow Presley like sheep with this "everybody hates us" attitude.

They didn't before Sunday. They probably do now though.

Listen, I don't give a fuck about Bradford and you shouldn't give a fuck about us. We should have won the game but we didn't, congratulations to you for scraping a point.

You've made a good case Fernando, except at the height of Liverpools dominance I recall an interview with a Liverpool defender:

We could keep possession all afternoon. The back four just passed it around until Daglish managed to get free. we would then hit him with the long ball, he'd dink it over the keeper and it was game over. People have a downer on Wimbledon but we've relied on the long ball for years.

It may not be a word perfect quote but the sentiment is accurate. However my own observations of Liverpool then, was of a more accomplished side. Daglish one on one with a keeper, drawing them out, either dinking it over the top or bending it round the keeper...best I've ever seen at that.

Liverpool passed on the floor before hitting the long ball, Wimbledon just kept it up in the air, head tennis.....the difference I guess.

I am a realist. Many see us still as a big club -- bigger than Hull, Swansea etc. We are miles behind teams we view as little.

40 years without a top 6 finish in any Division hardly gives you bragging rights over anyone.

Bradford fans were trying to state that we played the long ball game for two of the goals, I think there is a clear distinction between their game (1) and ours (2):

1) Lump it forward to the tall striker for him to head on.....

2) Let striker peel off into space and pass the ball into that space (which sounds a bit like what you describe about Liverpool)

That about sums it up Fernando. I would also add the best teams can do both. Football is a very simple game, especially from the side lines. Great players just make the right decisions, short or long, for the situation.

But our side are definitely starting to play football, letting the ball do the work.

However at Bradford I did feel we were trying to build every attack out of about 4 passes. I thought we were a bit rushed at times.

Many fair points but I think (1) Pressley's response to calling Bradford's style of football 'antique' was a reaction to Parkinson's abusive comments after the game. I guess blacksheep you haven't read that, or the fact Parkinson called Pressley and apologised. That actually showed both managers had acted out of character and moved on, so I cannot understand why you bring it up as both managers say it is history.J (2) I was mightly impressed with Wells. He lead the line impressively but if he is sold in the January window, which seems a possibility, yur team with lack either a goalscorer, or a star player. CCFC on the ther hand have a whole squad qh play together as a team and if one left in the window could easily be replaced. (3) I, for one, would never look down on a smaller or lesser team. Bradford, and teams like them. are going up the league from Div 2 to Div 1. They had a trip to Wembley which is praise worthy, but we, and the like of Wolves and Sheff Utd are bigger teams who have been going down ver the past few years. For me I am enjoying going to grounds like Orient, Crawley, Walsall and Bradford. To be honest I think we will be in this league one or two seasons whereas teams like Bradford will be a fixture in Div 1 for years to come.

Unfortunately being Cov fans we have had to be realists for years, I don't think the party line on this forum is that we are some big club that deserves to be anywhere other than the place we are in right now. The difference between us and Bradford is that is that aside from the last couple of seasons, we've been ahead of them in every aspect for years in my opinion so for some no mark from there to come on here and slag us off and what our manager is doing and the direction he is taking the football club in is utter bollocks. As I said in my earlier post, bet even the most ardent Bradford fan would trade our style of football for theirs.

After reading various comments on this thread, I must be missing something as a football supporter. I need to have a close look at what my day involves as obviously I'm not getting involved in the soap opera of everything else surrounding the match. I thought it was as simple as meeting my mates, having a few pints (including blacksheep if it's available), going to watch the game and having a good old natter in the boozer afterwards. Win, lose or draw the same old routine (maybe I have OCD).

So, the way forward, get involved in the sniping and griping afterwards, wonder what's going to happen in the next episode and maybe throw abuse like a child. After thinking about it I'll leave the soap opera approach to the wife, tantrums to the kids and I'll just get on with enjoying the game and the pre/post drinks.

Being a Coventrian myself but having worked and lived on occasions in Yorkshire I would suggest:

1 Good Pubs
2 Good curry houses
3 The National Media Centre
4 It ain't Leeds

I'd suggest, with regards to stating that certain towns & cities are shitholes, Coventrians do not start the argument from a particularly strong position......
