I thought Gyokeres looked crap when he was on loan, glad Robins didn't agree!

Indeed, nor was Don Hutchison who was also a freebie but both were extremely valuable that season. Marton Fulop who sadly later passed away was pretty solid between the sticks on loan too, in the same side

If any club tries but fails to get Walker on loan I could always change it to You’ll Never Walker Loan

Yeah it was.

Night game if memory serves me right. Can still see it now.

Such a shame as he showed so much promise when he was on loan with us!

Safri went over the ball right? Pretty sure he didn’t get sent off.

I think I was watching it on my own in a pub in London and unsurprisingly was the only one in there concentrating on the match. They showed the replay once and I exclaimed “fucking hell”!!! Which raised the locals from their stupor.

Although with my fading memory this might’ve been a different game entirely…in fact I’m only vaguely convinced I lived in London!

Really horrific. Like you say he looked like he was going to have a decent career.

A few attacking gems we’ve had over the past couple of decades;

Callum Ball
Jamar Loza
Rory Donnelly (1 hour loan deal)
Danzel Slager (think it was an initial loan)
Shaun Miller
Nick Proschwitz
Franck Nouble
Jack McQuoid
Jack McBean
Michael Folivi

I pray to god that we never return to these dark days!

It wasn’t long after his loan here Leon Barnett was playing in the Premier League! I can only think he was a lot better elsewhere

There were quite a few players I thought were loans who it turns out weren't, like Colin Hawkins, Andy Impey, Matt Heath, and Steve Walsh. Amazing how the memory plays tricks on you.

I think we'd have to assume a promotion had he been here for a complete season.
Effect on the Rest of the team was enormous .

Yes, wasn't Don Hutchison here at the time too? I was gutted to have never got to see Wise play for Cov in the flesh.

Based on performance while on loan, rather than future or past career my team would be:
Bywater, Caldwell, Ostigaard, Clarke-Salter, Grainger, Gudjonsson, Hignett, Walsh, Warnock, McGoldrick, Armstrong

Great loan of Mick Ferguson in the 80’s…..not the player he once was, but good enough to score on the last day of the season win against Norwich that kept us up and sent his parent club, Birmingham, down.

For me our best loan signing was Micky Quinn. Very sensible move by us (which doesn't happen very often) to agree a fee prior to his arrival...

Quinn and Rosario were a great partnership, turned Rosie from a carthorse to a cult hero...

Goals all the way... Happy days at Highfield Road

Googling this hasn’t got me the answer but apparently the first even loan was on the teamsheet as A H Chequer because he was loaned from Harrow Chequers and I think we should bring that back just so you’ve got half the league named A Chelsea A Man City and it might prove a point.

He did. Always thought he was a bit "meh" before we had him, but once he was plonked into our team of donkeys it made sense why Boro loved him. Very clever.

Huckerby was originally a loan from Newcastle but PL rules at the time said that we couldn't play him in the PL. We agreed a fee and I'm sure he made his debut at HR against Newcastle and scored the equaliser in a 1-1 draw.
