i was incredibly sceptical - but this was a great move by king, if we had the wrong guy in, we could have slipped down the league quick.

Being brutally honest, I was happy to change Robins prior to the new season starting. Just because I thought the FA cup run papered the cracks.

Was I all for Lampard....bit on the fence, I saw the pros and cons.

When my friends, colleagues and family asked what my thoughts were, I simply replied, it would either be a car crash or a stroke of genius, nothing in-between.

Like everyone, I was skeptical because whoever replaced MR was going to have huge expectations on them. My understanding of Lampard was that he was an outstanding manager (motivation, team spirit and cohesion, players played for him) but mediocre coach (tactics, gameplan, adaptation) so at the time I didn't think he was the right choice to hit the ground running.

And yeah, it was a tough start because there were inevitably cobwebs to shake off and teething issues but my god, once he got us going in the new year we were never looking back. It's been a great year and set to only get better; my only hope is my instincts that he'll be setting his sights higher are also wrong and he's around for a while.

I don't. I get tired of other posters not realising I'm right majority of time and still opposing my views only to admit later down line I was right but never learn from it.

Haha! I'm not sure many posters, if any, admit you're right - I think that's wishful thinking on your part

It also felt like we didn't mentally recover from what happened.

Coventry City: 'We now know why clubs hire Frank Lampard'

It was an appointment I was very much 50-50 about and DK must have had the biggest bollocks in the City when he sacked MR .
What has become very apparent is that Lampard and the coaching team are the best in this division. The improvement in many of our players has been major ( myself guilty of thinking that BTA was never going to improve ). Most recently the biggest improvement has come from Simms who against Middlesbrough was pretty much unplayable. The team spirit is immense and FL is central to that as illustrated by his reaction to Ellis after the game on Tuesday night ( Ellis even smiled ). Key moment getting Grimes and making it clear to DK that he wanted him.
This job has hugely benefited Lampard too.

All Skyblue supporters , are in dream land now …… as we couldn’t have expected this turn around of our club .
A world class player , ridiculed in certain circles , but light years ahead of the likes of Rooney, Van Nistleroy etc etc & he’s ours , ripping up records as he goes .
Thank god for Super Frankie Lampard

When I first heard that Mark Robins had been sacked, my blood ran cold. It reminded me of when you hear that a friend or relative has died. Maybe an over-reaction, but that's how it felt. The death of something that had been a huge part of my life.

When Frank was appointed I greeted the news with a shrug. Partly because the appointment was teed up days in advance, partly because I assumed he would be another Chris Coleman type who says the right things but ends up being distinctly average. Clearly, I was wrong.

As the saying goes, hindsight is 20/20, and this appointment proved that. I now see it as akin to a relay race - Robins did the hard running, and once exhausted, he passed the baton onto Lampard to run the last 100 metres at full pelt.

And now, after so many year of pain and hurt and defeat, the gold medal is in sight.

I was very pleased to see the back of Robins at the end and thought he should have gone a month earlier, I wasn’t keen on Lampard and wanted Carsley, so happy to be proved wrong .

A massive shock at the time when King wielded the axe on arguably the greatest manager of a generation which sent shockwaves not only throughout the fan base, but also the wider football audience.
Mark Robins always used the phrases “building blocks” and “foundations” which he duly laid during his successful tenure which we should all (and I think we all do) be grateful to him for. Lampard looks like he is now building the temple on them.
