I don't feel silly because he is very good at LW and coming into the season, we didn't have a great depth but I've got no problems saying that now I want to see him as the ST.

It's not just his goals this year but I've really noticed his work rate & tracking back is consistently good.

Whether it's the coaching/Lampard or because it's a WC year, I don't care. Keep it up Haji!!

If you insisted ‘Haji can’t play ST in Lampard’s system’, that was always a silly opinion to have.

Haji’s numbers at LW have been average since Jan 2024 and the stats just do not lie. To the extent that Nov-Dec is the outlier.

What didn’t help last season with Haji was a) the initial ankle ligament injury and b) the achilles issue that made him miss a lot of preseason.

I was incredibly pissed off at him after the playoffs and the end of the season he had and would happily have shifted him out and reinvested the money.

It's clear though that he was playing with an injury and was always playing catch up last season.

At his best again now and I wouldn't swap him for anyone in the division, even his ginger compatriot at Norwich.

I'm happy to be proved wrong.

Wright still needs to improve his first touch and holding the ball up about was about 4/10 last night.

He didn’t compete for hardly any headers he just let he defender win it every time which is very frustrating to watch.

He did score 2 goals though so I think with him have to take the rough with the smooth.

Be flicked the ball on with head in the lead up to the first goal and then scored a header. He aerial ability was fine last night

He looked very leggy last night, as did Torp and Eccles, Lampard has a huge challenge in picking a side for Saturdays game that can maintain our high energy attacking style.

Hopefully EMC can start, but I wouldn't be suprised if we see a change in formation and/or a few squad players getting a start, like Allen, Woolfy, KKH, Simms or Bidders.

Think the international break has come at a good time for us. Will allow a couple of them to have a break and then on paper got a favourable run of games

It wasn’t, he let the defender win the ball unchallenged about 8 times. His all round game wasn’t good last night and the goals mask this.

With Haji this is what your going to get. His goals were created by others last night who’s role in the goals deserve more praise than him.

We need more from him in his general play, his performance in the play offs let us down last year we need more from him. If you can’t see this your deluded.

Fans just love a blood and thunder CF and we were blessed by having the best one in the world play for us.

Haji just isn't that player, his best attributes are his technique and guile. He plays smart rather than hard and it works incredibly well.

I think some of his early struggles were us trying to make him into a player he isn't.

There'll be some self management of his energy spent in there I'd assume, can appear lazy but I seriously doubt that

The only frustrating thing about Haji is that he should probably be on more than 7 goals with some of the opportunities he has. He's been superb but still think he's playing in 3rd gear.

That and a naturally languid gait. You’d think people would have accepted him by now but no. If he finishes the league as top scorer people will talk about luck or being in the right place or the right time or how he could have done better.

No one is slagging him off, just pointing out he goes missing in the big games and is not as good as people make him out to be. People are forgetting about how shocking he was in the play offs.

He lets us down with his work rate against big teams and in general.

There is room for improvement from him.

He has run his arse off most games. This is the first week where we play 3 games in a week. Wednesday night in London early kickoff Saturday against a side with an extra day off and 2 home games.

Once he scored his second goal he was taken off with others to rest them. Other than Grimes our players are not machines. Their energy levels need to be managed. We played the perfect away game last night. Sat back and let them have the ball instead of running after everything. When we did have the ball we cut straight through them like butter.

We said this about Vik all the time. Good strikers miss more chances than bad ones.

Last season he got a bad injury and wasn't fully fit for the rest of the season. He continued to the end with niggling injuries.

Not as good as people make out? 7 goals from 8 games. A goal every 75 minutes. For the amount of people having a go at the Championships leading scorer I would dare to say the opposite is correct. But we do have a habit of bringing our own players down.

He won a few headers last night, misplaced a few simple passes but then scores 2 goals and the second one being very good!

Yep, those people must feel rather silly now. Haji has always scored more goals as a striker than a LW for us.

I went through the data in the summer and Haji had a stand out 2 month spell in 2023 and those perceptions stuck.

Even last season people were claiming he scored more goals off the left. It's just demonstrably untrue. And now he's really driving home the point!

He’s never going to be making 60 yard runs back to make a tackle like BTA and nor should he. Save his energy for scoring goals which he does consistently. Have you seen a striker in the league who would swap him for?
