It's emotion off the back of some big games. I said the other night he should probably be moved on but then thinking about it some more, I wouldn't be bothered if he wasn't. He's got the summer to recharge and get his mojo back..
He had a pretty nasty injury too. I've had that injury (albeit without the same level of care/physio Wright would get) and it bothered me for a long time afterwards. In fact I still feel it a couple of years later after exercise.

When will some understand, the lone striker role in our set up can be a thankless task. Got the attention of two CBs for most of the game and against a team with a low block not much opportunity to run into channels/run in behind and turn defence….both Wright and Simms strength. Yeah, both are tall but neither is what I’d class as a target man in the traditional sense. Wright is far better coming in from the left of a three, al!though he was immense against Sunderland in the league they were far more open due to early goal

Having said all that I’d imagine Wright might fancy a move to a top league somewhere and if so, so be it
Let's hope he's wanted by a few clubs out there then,it does seem like the time and possibly planned for,tbh I'm surprised both him and Simms weren't hawked around last year for the model to work as it should

I can testify to that and longer in reality.

what gets me with wright is he is quick, hes tall and hes strong. and the amount of times he doesnt win headers or hold up play, or even beat an aging CB frustrates me, plus hes 27, arguable entering his prime years.

if Frank can get the best out of him, and really, give him a position and stick to it and feed him correctly we could have really good player.
Same could be said of Simms, both players are big and strong, but neither can control a simple pass, neither can play with their back to goal, or hold the ball up and retain possession or hold off a defender, and neither are any good in the air.

And both appear to have spells where they lack any confidence.

Wright is a world away from Simms. We need to keep him and work on whatever was wrong in the last few weeks - he is our most talented forward player by some distance

Every player has a price, but we certainly shouldn't just be accepting any old offer that comes in. He's proven himself over 18 months pre-injury. He's been off it since, but suspect he'll recover after a pre-season. I guess the one concern is that his best games have been off the left. Kind of unproven (for us) up front as a lone striker.

Good in the air attacking the ball Wright clearly has the ability - Blackburn being an example

Without MVE’s mistake we‘d of been in the final, wright took Ballard out the game for our goal in the 2nd game and the header wasn’t easy, wrights a quality player and we need to keep him,
I think we could do better for the squad if we get a good offer.

Wright isn't a CF he's far better as a LW, but we have EMC in that position.
I'd sooner sell Wright and get a decent CF, as we've been struggling up front all season.

Sell Wright for a few quid and sign a proper CF is good idea, but WHO.

Josh Sargent would be ideal.
That's just 1 example, and we've no idea who else is out there, I'd never heard of Hamer or Gyokeres before we signed them.

Can't see Norwich selling Sargent to us but that's a good shout.

How come sakamoto was given time to get back to how he was but wright isn’t, wanting to get rid of your top scorer ( who missed nearly half of it ) dont get it, the way he was jumping out of tackles the last few games you can tell he wasn’t 100%, at least give him a chance,

Wright isn’t a LW, He got 12 goals in 27 games Would have got 20 if he wasn’t injured, he played exactly the same last season but nobody said anything ? we haven’t struggled up front all season, we’ve struggled at the back all season

As much as I think Sargent is probably the best CF in the division, his injury record isn’t great. Plus we are not going to spend £15m on a striker.

If, and it is a big if, Wright goes, we will replace him with someone around £8m tops.

I do agree with OP, that he’s better off the left. We saw it last season and I think he looks lost when playing up top (Sunderland hat trick aside)

After his injury he played 4 games down the middle, and Scored 4 goals, got moved back out to the left for the last 6 league games and scored 1 , where would you say his best position is, ?

I think this is more role than position. I think his best games for us have been on the left when he drifts into the centre as almost a second striker.

In this system, he’s instructed on the wing to keep his width which doesn’t suit him imo. In striker, his first touch and hold up play, hold him back imo (in this system).
