Unfortunately clubs nowadays don’t see the FA cup the same as supporters. I would be more than happy to play our strongest 11 and win the game comfortably, but I’d imagine a cup run means a lot more to Wrexham than it does to us.

It’s almost a certainty that Robins won’t play the likes of Gyokeres or Hamer in case of injury, especially as we have just lost our talisman O’Hare to an ACL. At the end of the day the league is far more important, and we are in with a real shout of finishing in the play offs. Play and potentially lose Gyokeres through injury against (No disrespect intended) Wrexham in the FA cup would be almost suicidal to our chances.

Gyokeres or Hamer could get injured in training like O'Hare did. As the Wrexham guy said playing a weakened team and then having a replay would mean another midweek match, and I feel losing to a non league team would have a negative impact on morale.

If we had Godden or Walker fit I could see a case for leaving out Gyokeres for this one, as he did play for Sweden during the World Cup break. But I have no confidence in Waghorn and I do not think this is a match for Tavares on his own up front. If we resort to Waghorn/Tavares and a weakened midfield I can't see us winning. Wrexham will be up for this match, quite rightly so and so should we. I hope the club treats this match in a professional way.

I'd remember how it went for us at Southampton, not sure how comparable the difference in quality is but they needed to bring on their 'big' players to swing the tie and even then it was only in extra time. This competition does tend to bite you in the arse if you take the piss with selection, and sometimes even if you don't.

Yes and I suspect the difference in quality is roughly similar.

It might be but tell me what manager or player, especially a Championship one, wouldn't be excited by a strong Cup run. Get into the later stages and the prize money surely helps too.

Mark Robins, multiple times.

It wasn't so long ago we all traipsed to Burton to watch him put out a second string and then stand and watch us get our arse handed to us without bringing on any "big guns".

I love the FA Cup.
Been to lots of lower league/non league ties,
Played in it,
Been to Cup Finals...... But.....
This tie... good when it was drawn, but a few circumstances have just drained my appetite for going up. (ST Holder)
1, some generally not great games recently where atmosphere has been poor - have dragged myself up through illness and been pissed off that I did.
2, 5:30 ko...not a great time, (kids both got chicken pox so will need to support their bedtime with Mrs S.)
3, Takeover malarkey causing a bit of discontent.
4, Cost of living pinching bit - petrol/tickets etc
5, likelihood of seeing how bad a thrown-together side are against a team in form and up for the game....

All a bit ...."meh" really....

Feeling a bit nervous about this. They'll be up for it and are a good team for that level. There support will probably be noisy than our own sparse following.

Think we'll play a pretty strong team to try and get he team clicking and the confidence back, but also due to lack of other options, such as playing Godden or Walker if they were available). Have a feeling Robins will give Kelly a start as well.

I thnk MR will go:

Moore
Rose Doyle Panzo
Kane Kelly Bidwell
Allen Hamer
Palmer
Gyokeres

Wilson, Dabo/Reid, Sheaf, Howley, J Burroughs, Waghorn, Tavares.

Personally I'd play Sheaf instead of Kelly and give Tavares a run out instead of Allen with two up top.

To be fair - that Cup game was worth about £11k for winning. A bit different to the FA Cup prize money for progressing.

I think the gap between the Premier league and Championship is massive. There you literally are playing against some of her best players in the world.

But more players successfully make the step up from Championship to Premier League than from National League to Championship (I assume, no stats to back that up!).

No criticism but I am slightly surprised you would miss out on the chance to get two away matches worth of (20) points for a relatively small entrance fee. I think the club are missing a trick if they don't highlight this on socials as there might be some fans who are struggling in January thinking they could go to this one for £13 and save £100s in travel and tickets for Burnley and Preston away and then not loose out on overall points.
Obviously the league is the bigger attraction but if your struggling for cash and don't want to miss out on points it's not a bad idea.

Yes I don't think people are aware of the sums involved to progress £105,000 is a decent sum to put towards and second half of the season loan signing. Big tie next round and those numbers would rapidly increase.

Second round proper winners(20)£67,000
Third round proper winners(32)£105,000
Fourth round proper winners(16)£120,000
Fifth round proper winners(8)£225,000
Quarter-final winners(4)£450,000
Semi-final winners(2)£1,000,000
Semi-final losers(2)£500,000
Final runners-up(1)£1,000,000
Final winners(1)£2,000,000

Totally irrelevant; if Wrexham want it and we don’t, it’s clear cut. We’ve been embarrassed enough times to know that.

I’m genuinely hoping that we can cruise past them with about 7-8 first team regulars, as a cup run will lift the spirits somewhat.

I wisely penned in a poker night with the lads when the tie was drawn and hoping it wouldn't be moved from the Saturday. They then pushed it to 530pm so I don't even have time to go home, see the kids and have dinner. So it an all dayer from 2pm and more of the lads are going too.....I'm looking forward to the day rather than the game if I'm honest and really hope to see a few of the younger players be given a start to see how they get on. I say a 2-1 win with Hamer being thrown on in the 83rd min to score a 89th min winner!!!

Other way to look at it...

1 - Cheapest game of the season by a long, long way. A family can go for less than £30. Groups of teenage lads can go at £7 each etc. It was £33 to watch Bristol City a few days back.

2 - 5:30 is a great kick off time. People working may finish on time. People playing Saturday football will be able to make it. People in the pubs may walk up late on after a few beers.

3 - Despite being a non-league, smaller club, Wrexham have been in the news a lot in the last two years and many have enjoyed watching the documentary. I doubt Ryan Reynolds will be there but who knows. They are bringing 4500 noisy fans and will create a good atmosphere.

4 - Doug might be confirmed by tomorrow and will give us all a free pint or a pie. *I am joking, but if you are reading Doug, it's a good idea and something Leicester have done in the past*.

Don't get me wrong, I understand the reasons for not going but once again with this club there is an excuse culture. We are a big city and while our crowds are good for Championship football, they should be better. Let's hope that if we beat Wrexham and get drawn Villa/Leicester away with a reduced allocation, that season ticket holders who attended this match get first priority. Plenty will miss out then.

Will be a small fee for the TV appearance and I'm sure 4500 thirsty people from North Wales will be drinking a lot in the ground.
