Ten year contract now ? [JPT aside - as i believe he wants to concentrate on getting out of this league] isn't he a breath of fresh air compared to Reid, Dowie, Adams, Coleman , Thorn et al ?? I'm totally convinced [If Backed ] he'll turn CCFC into a top 6 championship club within two years . the guy's pure quality imo .

No I wouldn't.

Pressley was the messiah until he got a five year deal.

No, a 10-year contract is ludicrous. I would simply renegotiate his contract when the current one is expiring and come to an agreement satisfactory to both sides.

Ten years, no way. He wouldn't sign anyway. Maybe extend current deal by a year but things change in football.

here
10 years...ha ha. Good one.

Whilst we all hope that TM turns out to be "the one" to finally stop the rot of the last couple decades. so far he's only proved himself better than our previous list of shit/rookie/caretaker/lyingjudas/onehitwonder managers that we've suffered in those decades....

TM is the most experienced manager that CCFC have recruited since Big Fat Con Atkinson......experienced enough to (at least display) a good relationship, understanding & rapport with the board, fans, press etc.

I hope he succeeds.....but talk of extending the contract of a manager who only just signed for the club after previously not even being prepared to commit to more than 14 games is laughable....

PUSB. Bit pissed. Good evening all.

No of corse not. No one is worth ten years. Wenger has outstayed his welcome at Arsenal to most.

Mowbray is fantastic and although he still is learning the lower league and has made some big errors he is still the best manager in this league for me.

If we got backed properly we would romp this division and as for the championship we need to calm down a bit and I suggest a top half finish would be a good also. We are only October remember. Football changes oh to quickly. We lose 3-0 to Blackpool at home and we are all slating someone.

A proper budget and in the championship mowbray would excel in my opinion but he will be coming up against better managers.... Not Steven Presley's of this world. (No offense but he won't manage higher) give him the resources and mowbray has the team and knowledge to do the bizzo.

He has worked miracles this year already. 8 months ago we were certain for relegation to a low point of league 2 football against dagenham and redbridge. 8 months on we are 5th in the league and 1 good win away from top of the league into October with a very winnable game against a toxic Blackpool side although they have faired better recently.

Let's enjoy the hope and optimism around us all and yesterday typified us as last season that was a certain 0-0 or 1-0 loss probably. We are now winning these and this season there is no reason why not? No stand out teams no stand out players no stand out managers except us.

Let's do this.

Every manager is a breath of fresh air at first.

Honestly I can remember threads on here or elsewhere not long after Dowie, Coleman, Boothroyd etc joined saying how impressive they are and how they say all the right things etc etc

Of course not. Ludicrous idea.
TM has been excellent so far and we all recognize the 'difference' he has brought about top to bottom of this football club. It's why we keep talking about it and posting suggestions like this of the OP.
But it's too soon to be thinking this way. An extension to his contract if we are still in the promotion chase come the New Year would be a vote of confidence to the club, the work TM is doing and the team to go on and get promoted, the most likely idea.

A rolling 2 year contract could be an answer gives security and value should another club woo him away, as for 10 years you're having a laugh aren't you ?

No of course not, what happens if something happens for the worst apart from having to give him a huge pay off?

No, I wouldn't even offer a four year contract to a manager.

Maybe you could just take his real contract and sew the number 10 over the 2?

No, plus if he had any sense he wouldn't limit himself in that way, just keep extending a 2 year deal while it suits both parties.

Top 6 in the Championship? Back on planet Earth, we would have one of the smallest budgets in the league and would do well to stay up!!

I thought that this sort of thing didn't matter now though?

We are only in October, calm down. No doubt you believe we will obviously do a Southampton or Leicester without spending millions on the side.

you dont have a clue what i believe. all i am saying is fans coming on saying THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE usually pretend they didnt say it when it dont turn out like they said.

i think championship would be hard and whilst would always hope for momentum taking us on in 1st season would be happy to avoid relegation and stabalise ourselves. hopefulyl mowbray would stay and try make us competitive in that league

So essentially we agree. I agree, I took heaps of abuse for daring to speak out against Thorn.

And if we gave TM a 10 year contract, he does really well, another club comes in for him, he goes, we end up paying him a fortune for nothing. Yep. Seems like a plan!

Why would be be paying him a fortune for nothing? If he went to another club while on contract, his new club would have to compensate us. We would only pay him up for the rest of the contract if we sacked him.

It reminds me of those claiming that we were still paying Downe, Coleman and Boothroyd despite the fact that they taken up employment elsewhere since.

I think if we offered him a 10 year contract he wouldn't except it anyway and rightfully so. See where we end up at the end of this season, then make a decision on his contract. I personally cant see us finishing below 10th and that on it's own deserves a raise!

No if we gave him a ten year deal I would have thought that it would be a big raise in pay?
Believe that is what the poster meant.
