No. We need to get over our fascination with ex-players.
They’ve moved on and so have we.
When’s enough enough though? Its never going to happen. Supporters have an emotional attachment to players that have played well in the shirt. Its the same with every club, and is why whenever there's a vacant manager position that the favourites will always include a smattering of ex players.
When’s enough enough though?
Are we going to be linked with him until he retires?
Oh I fully get it but people in here banging on saying we should sign Wilson, Maddison et al.No idea, but last season he was Championship player of the season. This season despite being in a poor performing team and reports that he has had a poor season and played out of position, his stats (assists particularly) are pretty good. He's plainly still a good, impactful player. Whether it would be a good move to bring him back is another matter, but I can understand why fans using this message board might discuss it.

Just because they’ve played for us before, doesn’t mean they would or should again.
Last 20 minutes in PL chasing a goal, with his passing ability worth considering as a sub option if cheap, but hopefully we can get much better, slimmer and younger. I think a good chance he will go to Wrexham as they sniffed round him in summer and January.

If he wasn't an ex-player he wouldn't be discussed at all.
Stone?Would be the first signing I would make, still only 28.
yes he doesdoesnt 'love the club' like so many believe
No
Fat, past his peak and doesnt 'love the club' like so many believe
I doubt Lampard would sanction the move, mainly because he doesn't fit with the ultra professional approach he has introduced.
yes he does
hahaha what’s the full story there? We had a deal agreed?Yea sorry youre right, he had the chance to come back 2 months ago and said no because he loves us so much

To be fair, 2 months ago we were part way through a sizeable portion of crumble and he may have thought about the carbs ..Yea sorry youre right, he had the chance to come back 2 months ago and said no because he loves us so much
So he’d have had to take a pay cut to come here? There was a deal to be done between the clubs. He however likes his money too much. 'Loves the club' though

Blunts fans think he absolutely loves it there too. I think ultimately he's just a bloke who goes out a lot, more than a professional footballer should possibly, so he comes across fans a lot and enjoys the attention, which they translate as "Gus loves it here." Which is fair enough, doesn't mean he has a love for anything other than his wallet though. In the short term yes. But would have been on more than his current contract when we get promoted
Ehhh somewhat understandable, promotion isn’t guaranteed and certainly wasn’t in Jan. He’d never have left in the first place if he was happy to play in the championship on 25k a weekIn the short term yes. But would have been on more than his current contract when we get promoted

I wouldn't have taken it either. If the promise is a higher contract on promotion, let's talk in the summer.
I think the notion of players loving clubs is sometimes overplayed for the benefit of the fans. He didn't grow up supporting CCFC and I suspect he's in it to make what he can, whilst he can.No
