Just a thought, but if Hamer became available, would you welcome him back to the CBS? Personally, I would but can understand if not, due to age, fitness, requirement etc. Thoughts?

No. Not part of the current squad camaraderie and would want to be centre stage

Good player...clearly, but where would he play, and who would he replace ?

Depends on all sorts of things. Not least of which is what division we are in.

In all seriousness, would he even pass a medical? Looks like he's seriously let himself go. Massive shame really as his talent is top.

Perhaps that's because he is unhappy?

In the prem next season?

Feel we could do better (no offence to him).

Heart says yes, head says no.

My head could be persuaded to say yes if we don’t get promoted but he probably wouldn’t want to come then.

I would definitely. He looks a bit over weight (a lot overweight) but his touch and vision are so good. I’d live him in the squad if we go up.

If you could sort a deal early enough to get him on a personal training plan and diet over the summer then yeah, he's class.
just out of shape

I'd say no, but if he ended up with us, I wouldn't grumble about it.

Player of the league last season, most assists this season. Did well in his first taste of the prem and still only 28.

I don’t buy this about his fitness either. Watch a game and he’s always exactly where you’d want him to be. Work rate is no issue at all.

No question on his ability it’s more a case of whether he fits in the system.

No. He can get kebabs somewhere else.

If he was prem quality then he would have been snapped up by now.

Im not.sure where this "hes let himself go" myth comes from. Whenever ive watched him this season he doesnt look any slower, or less fit than he did for us at Wembley v Luton. Also, he wouldn't be joining us now, he'd join in the summer, where im pretty sure a full summer with the squad and Frank Lampard, he'd soon be up to Frank's standards of fitness. Hes been bit part this season through injury and not being Selles first choice. Then, when he has played, hes been played out of position on the left. Yet STILL, tops the assists charts. Not too bad for an put of position, out of shape player really is it!?

In terms of the "who does he replace" or "where does he play" notion.... as it stands, the ONLY player in our squad with any real PL experience is the tank. In midfield, we have no idea at all if Grimes, Torp, or Eccles will make the step up. As shown to get out of this league, you need a squad. Not 11 good players, a full squad of them. Hamer isnt going to necessarily displace anyone, and nobody else will displace him if he warrants his position. But I think with Hamer, Torp, Grimes and The Tank rotating those 2 central midfield roles would be a decent midfield. Personally, Hamer and Onyeka to start with Torp and Grimes as squad players on 70 aims or cup games etc. The tenacity of Hamer and Onyeka together would be great. And Hamers range of passing FAR outreaches that of Grimes imo.

If we were to go up, and the price was right, its 110% a YES. Anyone saying otherwise because of the silly reasons explained above, are quite frankly clueless.

You just know all the people talking about kebabs and mocking his weight would do a 180 the second he signed. It’s more than fickleness, it’s almost immaturity to pretend a player is crap / fat just because they no longer play for us. Playground stuff.

did he leave? Just thought he'd been injured for 3 years. GIMOC said he signed a new contract?

Depends on the price really.

He'll be in the last year of his contract. If we could pull off a sneaky £5-6m deal I'd be all over it. Not going to get anyone better for that kind of price.

We need a set piece taker but I wouldn’t have him at DM and I think we can do better LW so as much as I love him probably not at this point. Louza is younger for the DM role, I’d want more athleticism on the wing.

This is a fair point. If he’s cheap then maybe as a squad player.

If we went up I would be opposed to having him back. I think we could source better but alas if we flunked it and he was willing to come back on reasonable wages for the Championship then he would still be good enough.
I think if we failed this time around we could easily have to sell the likes of Rudoni and maybe Grimes and Onyeka would go back too.

Correct, and this fact is backed up by the fact he got POTS the season he spent there!

It’s backed up by the fact he had a release clause when relegated and no one in the PL wanted to sign him
