I agree with that. Id always ;like to think if i was the worlds best football player, I would still prefer to play for Coventry on as much as they could offer me compared to a premiership team. But...easy said when it will never happen.

If i was the worlds best I wouldn't even consider playing for us ;),

No, i'm saying if i was king, i would move for footballing reasons, King will move because he can earn an extra few quid, but it seems that I would be in football for the wrong reasons, it's all about earning as much in as little time for footballers now.

Think that's a bit harsh. Other reasons can factor in too: geographic ones (players wanting to stay in London), the motivation of winning trophies, personal growth (experiencing life/football abroad), the family not settling, etc.

Where I'd agree is that few players have any sense of loyalty to a given club. In King's case he was offered a 50% payrise, move to a bigger and more thriving city and, arguably, the chance to play for a promotion-contending team. I doubt any of us would turn down that package if we were in our early 30s and playing for Walsall.

Sorry my mistake. I'll just go and join a Leicester forum! I don't understand why your posting on a site that you couldn't care less about?? I thought this was for CCFC fans?? Why would you be bothering your arse with us?

Where did I say that I couldn't care less about you?
I have deep feelings for your side, I'm very passionate about them.

My point was in his career and on 10k p/w King could still afford all the luxuries in life and have loads of £££ left over, so any move motivated by money is purely greed.
i agree hes 31 he could have 5 years of 10k a week
thats 2.6million! he could easy live the rest of his life
he could possibly carry on playing till even late late 30s and earn a little more at a small er club!

I thought you're lot wanted him Hackney?

Same as on here, after the way he played against us some were happy to overlook his convictions and refusal to face up to his problems. Some of us didn't want him anywhere near our club.
I'm sure Birmingham fans are split as well.

Simplistic, his game will suffer as his pace drops, he's very unlikely to get 5 years at 10k a week, and he's guaranteed 3 years at 15k at Birmingham.
Are you married with kids and a mortgage, have you ever worried about being out of work?
Marlon will never earn a decent wage in his life after football, that is a long time to go when you've been used to earning and spending 200k or so a year.

Interesting, he's only been offered a 2 year contract and on not much more money than you offered.

Apparently it is the chance to nick cars and beat women in Europe that made him sign.

Yes, but this way he can have 50% more of the luxury. It's easy to dismiss it as greed, but I'm not sure how easily I'd be able to turn it down if I had no more than five years earning power left in my life.
