Notts county sometime in the early eighties i think, went for a "P" it literally was a wall with a trough at the bottom, no roof on it and it was pissing down, no roof on terrace either got soaked and we lost 5-1 i think, shittiest day at the footy ever.
Think I too was at that game. Did not a certain Brian Kilkline not destroy us that day or did I dream that bit?

Driving a mini bus to Sunderland with 15 piss heads onboard, police escort out of some services after fights, thefts and goodness knows what else, Police escort out of Darlington after more fighting and antisocial behaviour in a chippy
Lads pissing out the van as we drove along, throwing cans of beer at passing cars and people.
Totally piss poor 0-0 game with Speedie getting sent off, also fuck in freezing open terrace, coldest i have ever been.
Walking back to the mini bus getting legged by around 60 Sunderlands lads, Christ knows how I didn't get the biggest kicking of my life.
Eventualy rounding up my completely wasted mates, narrowly avoiding another good hiding.
Getting lost on the way back, arriving back in Cov about 5am
Not getting my deposit back on the minibus after the lads had trashed it.
Never driven a minibus to a away game since LOL

Great post westend ,these memories are about so much more than the mere game we all go to watch.

League cup match around 1990 was famously sent off for fighting with Gary Bennett (Benno's brother)
but he never touch him,Bennett had him round the throat.

It was a nightmare from start to finish, we left the Mill Pool early with the lads already pissed, pluss we had enough booze to sink a battleship for the short journey North. In Darlington the mini buss was surrounded by Local plod, it was like a terrorist pincher hit, I was literally given 5 minutes to round them all up , or face arrest, it makes me laugh now, but at the time it was a fuck in disaster.

Listening to family members who assured me there was no reason to buy a season ticket to ensure a cup final ticket. No, you have the tickets stubs from the quarter final, the semi and stacks of home games, there will be tickets left and we will queue up when they go on sale as you work 30 miles away... Don't worry you'll be there.
Been watching city since 1970 but did not get to go to the cup final, like many others.

I am guessing all this info came from John Hewitt?

Living in Rugby now.

He's still banding! Can't remember the name though.

Yep, remember him working at Cov Climax. Think that's where he met Mick Galic.

Small world!! :D

Offered the chance to go to berlin to see England play Germany on my wedding anniversary. 5-1 to England. Went out for meal with mrs instead. Gutted!

Would have been an even worse decision, that game was played in Munich.
