LGBT fans were told not to be too ‘public’ about their sexuality in Qatar, we were all told it’s their ‘custom’ and to respect it. Well now it’s in the US, pro LGBT views are the ‘custom’ in this particular part of it so if teams don’t like it…they can always withdraw.

It's asymmetric multiculturalism. We rightly have to tolerate their cultural norms and practices in their countries but that same thing isn't afforded to us. It's pretty indicative of the West at present.

FIFA should double down and if the teams want to postpone the match, their loss.

No argument there, never wanted it in Qatar in the first place.

It’s not a FIFA initiative, and FIFA clearly won’t be promoting any diversity-related events out of political correctness with the US government, which also happens to be openly hostile towards some LGBT people.

Final is having a Superbowl style halftime show. Slight problem here is that to facilitate that the Superbowl has a 30 minute break.

Not sure players will be too happy with an extended halftime for this nonsense.

Optimistically, the prices will drop because fans won’t pay it. FIFA tried this stunt at the Club World Cup and prices hit a floor.

I’ve already scaled back my plans for the World Cup, at the most I’ll do the quarters to the final should we get there. If it’s going to

I stayed out in Germany for the whole month in 2024 and that cost me approximately £6k which includes all my tickets (£1.5k for the final ticket), accommodation, travel and of course, beer and food. It’ll probably cost double that to do the USA.

I looked at a couple of options and thought

I’ve got a flight booked to NY now just in case we get to the final. I’d consider the prices for a final ticket just to be there.

This will backfire on FIFA, the teams with the biggest followings in Europe and South America will be priced out. The costs were racking up significantly when just considering the logistics, accommodation and just being in the US… £5k in ticket prices is just too much and in my network of ETSC members, that’s a consensus view too.

@CJ_covblaze Will you be going out to this one?

What you're going to have is rich Americans taking all the tickets and sitting there singing 'fight and win'. That's genuinely how I see it.

BTW @Sick Boy is there any way to merge both world cup threads? Might be useful.

Anyone else going that time?

Those looking for accomodation, forget hotels. Silly prices.

Try Vrbo - we've got a 3 bed apartment not too far from Liberty State Park (where the Fan Festival will be) and the MetLife Stadium side of the Hudson River. 4 nights for £1000. Same property was on airBNB for £500 more.

In a World Cup first looks like they will be charging for the official fan zones. FIFA are selling early bird tickets for $12.50 per session which implies that price will rise. Interestingly for this blaming FIFA the fan zones at Canadian venues will be free.

I'm not sure what is worse, the high ticket prices & charging for fan zones or the US fans that can't grasp the idea that cheaper tickets should be an option. They seem to think that the higher the prices the better.

To be fair, this looks a little bit like sensationalism. It appears that only the "Fan Festival" venues will be ticketed. It has music acts and is on a much large scale than regular fan parks.

I think the regular "fan parks" will be free.

Don't let Doug see this. He'll start charging instead of putting the musicians on for free.

Sound. I’ll pm you.
I’ve only got a one way flight at the minute, obviously price was a factor and I had air miles to use. Also, I can see what the first 2 games results bring, so I can decide whether to
Head down to Atlanta for the last 32 if we win the group, or just do something else.

I tell you what, that Friday night before the England game in New York will be unreal ⚽️

Yep really can't wait now it's booked. We have an Airbnb in Bayonne, right on the light rail system. Should be easy enough to get about.

Entered the random ballot for England tickets. Probably spend a day in the Fan Festival for the Germany game days before.

2026 World Cup: Fifa yet to intervene on 'Pride Match' despite Egypt objection

An official involved with the World Cup Pride Match says there has been no contact from Fifa about their plans, despite the Egyptian FA's complaint.

A fan group says "alarm bells should be ringing at Fifa" over the fact England supporters have not taken up their full ticket allocation for next summer's World Cup final and semi-final.

So far the number of allocated tickets to members of the England Supporters Travel Club (ESTC) exceeds the number of applications received, meaning everyone who has applied for a ticket to the final and semi-final is guaranteed one.

Nervously waiting for the outcome of the Aer Lingus withdrawal from Manchester talks. Fucking typical they announce this week's after booking our flights. Surely they'll make a enough from the world cup fights to keep going until the autumn!

I saw that Aer Lingus have pulled a lot of flights - Hope you are sorted mate

It’s probably the first tournament in my life where I have zero jealousy towards anyone going partly because of the cost and partly because my days of following England are done (As much as I would love to see us win it)

So I tip my hat to anyone who is going

Unless a load of Brits decided to sail to Uruguay for the 1930 World Cup which we didn't take part in just to have a fight
