Not sure why some think it's an easy draw. Out of what was possible we got the highest ranked team in pot 2, the second highest ranked team in pot 3 (and the highest we could have got given the highest ranked teams in B and C were both European), and the 3rd highest ranked team (of those confirmed) in pot 4.

Sure, given the format etc we should get through comfortably but it was almost as hard as it could be.

So we're in the "Group of Death" Then?

Not sure it's quite that dramatic, but it's definitely a competitive group.

Also hope our first game isn't in Dallas. The heat and the design of the stadium meaning the sun gets straight in your eyes in one direction.

It is an easy draw. If England don’t get 9 points it will be disappointing. Due to the amount of teams in it the worst outcome would have been Italy. France have it much trickier

Croatia aren’t what they were, and still rely on aging players
We put 6 past Panama when we weren’t expected to be good
Ghana have our top scorer up top, Who as much as we love him isn’t above championship level

I’m pretty sure FIFA must have broken a few of their own rules with all the nonsense. Ronaldo visiting the WH and then shortly having his suspension overturned says it all.

Our projected run to the final apparently would be:

Second round - Norway
Round of 16 - Mexico
QF - Brazil
SF - Argentina
Final - Spain

Fair to say I do not fancy that at all

In fairness, the Aztecs were also conquerors barely a century before the conquistadors and they helped the Spanish maintain control of their empire in the New World.

I’m trying to plan what I want to do in the US. Leaning towards the Group games rather than the knock outs purely because if we don’t top the group, it’ll be v expensive to change plans!

I’ve got a refundable flight to New York for 17-20th should we get there…

My provisional plan looks like that atm. However, my mate and I have looked into hiring a camper van (about $4k) but to fit in 27 hours of driving from Dallas to Boston seems impractical.

The route would’ve been really cool actually. How would you fit approx 5 hrs of driving per day and tourism stuff too? It’s not realistic imo.

There’s some very cool long distance trains across the country which allow you to see a lot with your own cabin and bed. Not sure if they connect those two cities but Chicago-LA is a famous one.

It would be a great trip, right through Memphis and Nashville without even going out of your way - if there’s enough of you driving then would be easy to take turns

Couldn't find a thread so figured I'd start one. After the absolute shambles of a draw, highlights including Trump being given a made up peace prize, the people doing the draw having no clue how to pronounce the countries they'd drawn and for unknown reasons a performance by the Village People it just keeps getting better.

Prior to the draw a pride game was scheduled for Seattle, the teams drawn for that game Egypt and Iran. Of course they are both countries with fantastic track records when it come to LGBTQIA+ issues.

And now it seems all games, rather than those hitting a temperature threshold, will feature TV time outs for adverts hydration breaks. The fact this was announced after meetings with broadcasters clearly just a coincidence.

It really is a shambles and just sums up FIFA...all about the money.

That's why we, N.Ireland, are likely to boycott the WC next year .

We'll put the bins out for the rest of you immoral so and so's!

Final is having a Superbowl style halftime show. Slight problem here is that to facilitate that the Superbowl has a 30 minute break.

Not sure players will be too happy with an extended halftime for this nonsense.

Fact is no islamic country would be supportive of homosexuality , so nobody should be suprised .. gay people really should realise islam / muslims is /are not and probably never will be on their side

LGBT fans were told not to be too ‘public’ about their sexuality in Qatar, we were all told it’s their ‘custom’ and to respect it. Well now it’s in the US, pro LGBT views are the ‘custom’ in this particular part of it so if teams don’t like it…they can always withdraw.
